I’m honestly not shocked there closer you’ve gotten to getting the house done the more I’ve subsided what would be next. This sounds like a win win win for everyone involved especially Joel and your grandparents. Congratulations to you all I can’t wait to see the new house. I hope y’all will keep the old house for a vacation place for the whole family maybe everyone could spend the holidays up there. Or maybe you could make it am air B&B for your KZread family. Whatever you do congratulations

I think yall have it backwards. Go back and watch your faces, hugs, laughter, and pure joy of love of family showing on those faces. YOUR NEW home should be your home. Mountain home should be your getaway home. Besides time will fly, and Leo will be starting school. He needs playmates and family close by. It's called evolving and change is good for what's best the family.

It's sad they call something that look more practical and better then the one at the house their are building old... Yeah the oven is old but it can be changed... People would kill to have a kitchen made with what look real wood instead of the junk used today.
The oak wood is really lovely! The following generation will question why all of the oak was painted over or removed in 20 years. I'm very glad Allie will have a secure home near her family.

I personally think, in the long run, the new house will be so much better for the mental, physical, and financial health of your whole family. I know you love your mountain house, but it belongs to a different era of your life. Friends and family, having your own community is SO important. Especially these days. And having a safe space to foster those relationships is the most important thing in this life. You have an amazing opportunity to grow, to stretch, and feel how to make this new house your own as you live in it. I hope you seize that opportunity. Well said.
To preface: I am a tree hugger - and all my life have been a proponent of enjoying natural woods, so all my comments will be along that vein. In your "new house" - you have one of the most beautiful kitchens I have ever seen. Wood and natural wood grains are so special - I pray that you will hold on to them. The built-in bookcases - the natural woods everywhere - you truly have a treasure there. Too many people rip them out or paint them over - and later wonder whatever possessed them to destroy such beauty. I know my opinion is of no matter - but I truly thank you for letting us see it as it is now. All the best to you (no matter what you decide - it'll be right for you).

I lived in Oregon, where my friend still lives in a house built by her grandparents. I suggested to her to paint the wood work and I am so glad she did not listen to me. Don't rip up anything. I don't like the countertops so much, but otherwise I love the house and you have made the right decision. Just flow with it. Yes, the squares in the ceiling could feel stifling, but give it time. Breathe. You went through so much with your mom passing away. With a new child and Leo in his terrible twos, take a break. For you, Allie, you're already not in your home environment from the East Coast. I think you made an excellent decision.
My 2 cents? I'm really relieved you bought a house. This almost 70 year old grandma was worried about how you were going to make living in a construction zone with a newborn work for you. Super, super smart decision on your part, and it looks like a lovely house! So relieved.
The oak wood is beautiful! In 20 years, the next generations will wonder why people painted or ripped out all of the oak. Thank goodness Allie will have a safe place close to family.

@@catherinehicks8771there definitely is too much! It’s like someone got a really good deal on oak! Oak is a challenge to paint because of the open grain, lots of prep work.
My humble opinion: If the new house is basically fit to move in, the cosmetic stuff can wait until after you finish the house, and possibly the casita and garage projects at the mountain home. That way, for the new house, focus is on making it comfy and functional to live in for the present and postpartum months ahead. And then, after you go back to the finished home on the mountain, you can make renovation messes at the new house. Also, the oak in the new house is beautiful. It could use a new color of wood stain, but the warm golden oak is not hideous and it can keep while you finish up existing projects and just enjoy family life and more visits with friends.

Congrats on the 2nd house. I'm a multiple property owner myself. Best decision to make for your family. Love the all the wood throughout the house. Actually the natural look in kitchen cabinets and coffered ceiling is the new trend for 2024. Maybe just restore the wood with newer stain color and protection. The kitchen is fine just needs updated appliances and hardware on the cabinets. I think you should start a family tradition of Sunday brunch at least once a month. Then when your kids are grown with their own family you guys will be sitting at the end of table like Trent's grandparents asking for a strong drink.

I have a St. Christopher medal that she blessed, my sister traveled to India in 1995 and stayed 6 weeks, she went to nursing school with a girl who's family was from there and she went with them to visit, they were able to get an appointment to meet Mother Teresa, they also made a donation to the orphanage, my sister got her picture taken with her and she blessed a medal for me, I was raised Catholic and my middle name is Teresa, not after her but my aunt who's first name I also bear, she and another aunt were nuns.
I think you have found your winter home. The home up the mountain can be your summer home. 😃
Trent looks like 10 years younger with his fresh face, haircut, and colorful shirt. Y'all are so cute together! Community is something important to build, too. Go for it. Oh, I spied the arched bookshelves that Allie wants!
Love it. I think you should make this your primary residence and keep the old house as a airbnb.
So happy for you all! Thx for continuing to let us be a part of your lives.
Please don't change the oak, I grew up in the land of Frank Loyd Wright and his homes are all over the Chicagoland area and people over the years would come into those mission/craftsman homes and "update" them and rip the soul out of them. Please, as a 50+ year old I really do appreciate a home that has its character left untouched or if added to done so with the same architecture design in mind.
Oak is my very favorite wood and I would love to have that kitchen. Don't get rid of all the oak or paint it out. That was a beautiful custom made kitchen and very expensive one. I know oak is not the wood a lot of people want today, but it is a beautiful wood to use. The old appliances will last longer than the new electronic ones do and are easily repaired at a lower price. This is a nice addition to your channel for us to follow and it will be a good gathering place for all of you. Maybe Joel would be able to move in as a caretaker and have some one on site to watch over the property. He seems responsible enough to do that. Keep working on the new place and finishing that out. We all are looking forward to seeing what happens at both places now.

I agree 100%. It's no longer 'Trent and Allie' battling the elements on the remote mountainside. There are two little ones who also need to be near family and amenities such as parks and libraries. Even going for an ice cream cone on a summer night. And I also love the oak house as it is. Maybe a change or two, but it is beautiful now.

I do hope they keep the cabin until they finish renovating both places. That way they can live in a construction free zone in either place.

It would make a good Airbnb and family vacation rental type place if they want to hold on to it. But I agree - the house in town is a real home and a great place made to raise a family in. Not everything needs to be a project.
Best idea ever to live in a house for at least a year before you renovate because you’ll know exactly what you need to change and have no regrets because you rushed in.
This house has good vibes which is so inviting to share for family times together. It's style & history is what makes it so, regardless of the decor. So moving for me to see the warmth of family interactions, thank you for taking us along on these occasions. Looks like a great move for where you're at right now. I still love the snowy environment though & all the interesting challenges it provides... Looking forward to what unfolds for the future.
Good evening, I was watching this Saturday evening! I am excited about the new house. It allows Leo to play in the yard and be close to family members, especially Trent’s grandparents. The new home is an excellent place, and it will give Joel a place to live and all the family to visit💜! 💜🙏🏽🦋
I miss big family gatherings, so watching Trent's family together laughing, cooking and hugging ALWAYS brings me to tears, ESPECIALLY Grandma and Grandpa. You can see the love Trent has for his family in his eyes. This is such a great move and I think we can already see the relief in Trent and Allie's demeanor.
I grew up in a house with a 1980 oak kitchen at home and this house doesn't look the same. First, the oak isn't orange enough and the cupboard doors/ drawers back then didn't have pulls/knobs. This kitchen has a much cleaner, modern design. This house is very tastefully done. The ceiling is gorgeous. Everyone has different taste, but personally, I like it as is. Very inviting and cozy.

Yes, this house is beautiful as is! And huge! I wouldn't change much except maybe to paint.. I predict that this house will get lived in more than expected, and that the Mountain home will become an air BnB.. or vice versa. It doesn't make sense to have two places just for one to sit empty..
I am excited for you All. Dear sweet Ali you have been through so much since conceiving Leo and I admire your strength through it all. I am glad you are not giving up your dream. Trent you are a good man. I am 66 and watching you two and the excitement of your endeavors is so rewarding to me. Thank you for sharing.
I think it's awesome that you are doing what you feel you need to do for your family . As a mom of 2 grown children I suffered from major post pardon depression and I'm sure I had bad thyroid problems. My youngest is 34 years old now. Back then post pardom depression was not known and you didn't talk about it. So I commend you for your openness about that is amazing. You both rock and your love for each other shows so much and the support you give to each other is amazing. So proud of you both doing this together caring for your family and friends so amazing!!
Going to be honest I think this house is the best thing for you, being near family when you’re having a baby and when your children are young is so important and that house has such a homely feel. 😊
I'm Old. I love the house the way it is. Ovens were made analog for a reason, i bet it is newer than you think. They work and don't break, better than digital. Just because it's new doesn't equal better.

Totally agree.
I'm so very impressed with Joel's warmth, kindness and respect for the women in his family. The fact he brought flowers for Allie and his grandmas was heart touching to say the least. Happy belated Birthday to Trent's lovely mother. 💐🎊 Congratulations guys on the beautiful new home. May many wonderful memories be made there for years to come.💓🙏
Congratulations on the new house! Perfect planning for for the path that Life has taken you! Just loved seeing the family hugs through, laughter and love shown throughout the video! You are truly blessed to be surrounded by your loving supportive village.
That gathering of Family was the epitome of what love and support looks like! It brought tears of joy to my eyes, and I thank you for sharing this special time with us.
I love your willingness to jump and change when life throws you a curveball.
I understand and think it's a great idea to be closer and more accessible to your family especially with small children, they need that family too, I actually love the warmth of the oak wood trim, remember things come back in fashion, so I would do a minimal update/refresh, it is a very nice home and looks like a wonderful place for the children and family to gather.
I love your new home. The wood looks warm and inviting and the fact that you are in closer proximity to family is priceless. On another note I am very sorry for the loss of your mother. People we love never die, they live in our hearts forever.
Let me start by saying, I’m so glad Allie wasn’t hurt in her car accident. 🙏🏾 Your new house makes total sense! Congratulations! That’ll make your lives so much richer and convenient. Also, the fact that you can be closer to your families is priceless. The older your children become the more time you’ll want to spend in your city home.
Trent’s tenderness with his grandparents never fails to make me teary. I’m so happy for you to make more memories with family. ❤
Long time watcher rarely talk. Leo is growing so fast! I love the new house and I am glad you you have more resources to support Ally in her final trimester and newborn stage. Trent your relationship with your family is magic, Joel has grown into a fine young man and his friendship with Ally is heartwarming. So good to see your grand parents and siblings
What a grandma! She is a Queen and a Rockstar at the same time. Such a sweet witty old lady full of love and wisdom. Trent & Allie, you guys are so blessed to have such wonderful families. Many would die to have what you have. Much love!
I am a grandmother and a great grandmother, I love family and think you will be so much happier in the new old house! Sell that project house and never look back. I LOVE the new house and the old appliances that will outlast any of the new crap they make today, I even love the solid oak cabinets made better than anything new. Congratulations!

That “old” oven….I said the exact same thing…probably way better than ANYTHING made today. Just better quality products, back then. But then again, I’m 70 and I don’t think like these youngun’s today. 🫢

Wow! I wouldn’t change a thing! I just love the oak! I hate that nowadays everything is white and non descriptive. I love the charm and warmth of the woodwork ❤

Same here. The oak gives such a warm feel.
Wow! I love all the oak! It is so woodsy and warm and the wood ceiling is gorgeous! The kitchen is beautiful! This house is perfect for you! It is so important when you have kids to be in a neighborhood where they can play with other kids and establish bonds that will last through school and beyond. Congratulations on your new purchase!
Wow….exciting times for your family! Having a place to “nest” and recoup close to family is priceless♥️ I think you are going to love this house more than you ever thought because you will be spending more time with family & Friends and making memories.
I love how the siblings hug each other, it's with feeling and great love for each other.

I wish everyone in that family had a video channel, with or without perfection. I love them❤
100% the right decision. The huge kitchen and dining area are great for family and friends gatherings where everyone mingles and the children are free to have fun.
Love that you are diversifying and getting options in your life. Congratulations on being in a position to have a foot in the city, and a foot in the hills. Very excited to see the home design plans you have in mind to open-plan the new place, have the living/cooking/entertaining areas be exactly what the climate there and landscape needs, and you can fix this one and do it all over again, all while having the hills to retreat to!
You two are definitely two kind souls. So happy to see you grow and shine, sharing love and memories with your families. You're amazing, guys.
Go for it!! It makes so much sense for Allie, let alone Trent and Leo! To have close family on both sides to reach out helping is a massive blessing!! Congratulations!!🩵🩷💐🎉🎊
Who else teared up at 25:50 when granny said she's so proud of them? ❤🥺🥰

Who Didn't?
Family....all that TRULY matters in the end. I promise you, this home is a gift beyond words to you all. 🙏💛💛🙏
I am so happy for you! I love that you will have so much support by family after little brother arrives. Ali, you deserve it. Congratulations!
Seeing Leo in the fenced backyard made me so happy. I can just see Leo, Frank, Lika, & baby brother running & playing. They'll have so much fun.
I think it’s clear how much you enjoy being closer to family, just in this one video. This was absolutely the best choice for all of you at this stage in your lives. And thinking about Allie’s struggle being without a supportive community after Leo was born and contrasting that to this simple family get-together, got me teary-eyed. Having a comfortable home in the valley, close to family, friends, medical care and shopping, will make a huge difference with this second baby. I love what I’ve seen of this house so far. My theory is that the quickest way to make your house look dated is to follow trends. Classic style and coordination of the fixed features, like the wooden cabinets and the countertops, will stand the test of time. This house is already cozy and charming, without anything added. It’s also perfect for family gatherings, as we saw in this video!

I agree! Trends come and go. Stick with the classics.
As always another Great video. Happy for your whole family that you can spend time together in the new house and spend time with Trent's grandparents and mother. It's important to be ever changing and flexible. Been watching you all from your van trips, the engagement, the surprise wedding and continuing to follow. I think one of my favorites was when you surprised your grandma on the wedding changes and her little gasp of delight when she realized you were getting married in the next few minutes after you all got out of the car. She is just delightful to watch, I never got to meet any of my grandparents so I get sure joy out of watching how Trent reacts with his and how much they Love Allie. Leo is growing so fast and can't wait to see the next one. You could tell how much Jordan was enjoying the time spent with you in the new home. Sending vibes of Blessings and Love to you all!
It truly is special, what you two have in a family. It just blew my mind, how blessed you are!!!
Wow congratulations it looks very nice right now! Love your show.,.just something to think about the older appliances are made to last!👍.
Since you asked, I will share that I think you guys make great values based decisions and I have loads of respect for your entire journey. I have lots of excitement for this new project. Stoked! ❤

It is a very lovely house,I love it !! It will definitely be the answer for you For alot of reasons. Being close to family will definitely help you Allie & more convenient for for everything. Your grandparents will definitely be happy not having to worry when your leave in snowy weather. A great idea but don't rush in to the renovations for Allie😮s sake.
Such a great idea! I just had my first baby and live away from family and truly know the importance of your village during such an overwhelming time. So happy for y’all!
We love your new home, so lovely to see you enjoying your family gathering. Live in your new spacious home, finish the mountain home and rent it for Winter Holidays. We love your watching your building progress and how quickly Leo is growing up.
I never knew any of my grandparent. I got so teary eyed when Trent hugged his grandma so tight and she said how proud she was of him and Allie. That melted my heart. You are doing the right thing by being closer to family. Family is so precious, make all the memories you can and cherish those memories for a lifetime.
I absolutely agree that Allie should have more support of a local community in the valley, especially while she copes with the loss of her mother. Good luck with the new house. Bless you both!

Absolutely!!!
So excited for this opportunity for your family. I love how you’ve sought to meet the needs of the family in this season of life. Big changes for sure yet definitely a good and wonderful need being met. Congratulations ❤
Van business, House project, Garage apartment project, Trent's garage projects, now another house project......wonder how many more will be added in? Adding a lot more travel in. So far even though you've had many projects going you have been together through it all. If you finish the back it will be separated from the construction on the front. I can see the newness of being in town will be exciting. Easier access to people and places. It'll all work out either way. Have fun. P.S. really have enjoyed you letting us tag along with the videos.
I lost my mother 8 years ago. She was mid 50’s she died suddenly. I don’t have any contact with my brother. I have a little contact with my father and don’t really have any other family from my side. My wife’s side is big and I’m close with them. Been such a blessing to have them around. I live in Finland but I’m from England and moved here 10 years ago. It’s definitely good to have family around spend time together and also great for the kids.
The ability to have 'summer home' and a 'winter home' is a blessing and a blast! Good Luck in all your future endeavors!!
So exciting!! I am so happy for you guys!! Having another place to stay is a game changer. It was so awesome to see the family and everyone together laughing and having a good time. Thank you for sharing your lives and being so open and honest. Ignore those jealous comments from others that cannot comprehend how much work that you have done to create this and how much you deserve this!
