    It said at the bottom of the screen "WL' meaning 'world lead' (as opposed to 'world record') because it is not an IAAF-sanctioned event. The commentators are implying we've seen the incredible things this man can do and there is almost no surprise in this. There is just no explanation even needed.

  • @callumscott953

    You are more or less correct but the graphics are wrong. It should say, "WB" not "WL". World Lead is the fastest time in a given season. World Best "WB" is the correct abbreviation for the world record in a non-IAAF recognized event such as the 300m race. The idea is still there though, its still the fastest time ever run in the 300m race

    Absolutely incredible - and it looked like he eased up on the throttle the last 10 meters....Consider that the qualifying time in the 300m for an FBI field agent is 54, and for most police academies it's 71. For anyone who thinks those times are slow, head out to your local track and give it a go. And, just for fun, run it at 7,000 feet like we do in Santa Fe, New Mexico 🌪️😵

    Why does IAAF not recognise 300 metres? And are IAAF the only people authorised to declare WRs? We all know what a WR is. It's not like it's a 247 metres record or 299 record. 300 is a nice round number.

  • @bensullivan5562

    @bensullivan5562

    300m is not run frequently enough. Also, you don't need it as an event because each distance at the moment serves a different physical challenge and tests a different energy system. 100m is all about the ATP-PC energy system, 200m tests max speed for roughly the furthest possible distance and borderline lactic acid, 400m is a tactical endurance sprint which tests the lactate threshold. 800m is the furthest distance that could be considered anaerobic. Etc. etc. There is no real need for a 300m to be put inbetween them.

    No honestly he'd be in last place. 8th ran 32.50 (results are at 6:07). The top 4 all ran under 32 seconds all with PBs and one national record. Did you not see the results?

    I agree bigtime, the swimmers do 50m, 100m,200m, 4x50m 4x100 and 4x200m then you've got the medley relays of different distances too. I'd say Usain wud have nearly as many medals as Michael Phelps if they had as many events in track as they do in the pool 🏅🇨🇮🏅
