Lovely piece. Can I ask, do you heat the carvers as you work or is that not needed? Thanks 🌻

Thank you so much 🙏 the carving tools are sharp enough to remove the wax without them being heated, but I do use an electronic carver to remove and add wax quickly when needed.

@@GraceNoteForge thank you! Would you have a recommendation for wax that I can use like clay to mold with my hands? That's soft but also will hold up detail, and sturdy for casting? Thank you 🙏

Did you make a mold for this and then cast it?

No mold for this one. It went straight to casting 😊

@@GraceNoteForgeOk I’m trying to understand the next step in the process, so you used this one as a cast for the pendant?
@GraceNoteForge

@@SugarMapleFarmhouse Yep! Instead of making a mold for this wax carving, I just attached it directly to a sprue and then invested it in a casting flask.

So talented! If you don’t mind me asking, are you self taught or did you study to be a jeweler? Really inspired to become better with my lost wax casting

Thank you so much! 🙏 I'm self taught when it comes to jewelry and metal smithing but I did go to school for advanced manufacturing where I studied things like material science and practical metallurgy. And thankfully, some of that translated really well into what I work on now! 😁

As a dentistry student wax is not that interested work as it seems .in fact it's rather irritating.
