this screen will be perfect for terminal in portrait mode. Ill keep like that
awesome ! thank you
This display would look really nice on a laptop or like a taskbar on a Windows machine under the monitor.

agree... to display specific app... that's good idea.
Thank you for this video! I know have a working screen, the only problem I have is if I rotate the screen to display horizontal it cuts of the whole screen except for the left corner. Any ideas?
I'm trying to use it on a Raspberry pi 4, with the Retropie system and the PieMarquee2 program. I've already tested this configuration on Raspberry pi OS and it worked, but on Retropie it doesn't work at all. Have you ever tested it on a gaming system?
Might be stupid question but it doesn't need any configuration if I just wanna use it with windows as plug and play yes? Well besides orienting the display in windows/nvidia control panel ofc, but Pie isn't needed...
Have you ever try other SBC like radxa maybe? I'm trying to config other waveshare display under dietpi on radxa zero SBC
Hey man. I've got the same setup now, but my display runs at 30hz instead of 60... Refresh rate is stuck at auto. Can you help?
Thanks for sharing

Have been looking at getting one but i need to know: How big is it? Is it sharp? Is the touch good enough?

It has standard HDMI. Check 1:08
Does the touch work fine? What was the thing that had to be configured? Can't you use it out of the box?

Yes you can. As main or secondary display for pc. Configuration is just for Raspberry pi

You need to add a few lines to /boot/config.txt on a Raspberry Pi. There is a very brief "documentation" delivered with those boards, but you'll find tons of additional info in the net. When choosing your specific display from the variants the manufactorer WaveShare provides, and you're intending using the touchscreen functionality, keep in mind that the WaveShare device driver not always converts touch coordinates to pixels. This may be an issue for some software off the mainstream. For example, those approx. 8" displays as shown in the video deliver data in the range 0..4096 for touch input coordinates, where the 7" displays (1024x600) deliver converted coordinates for touch operations. Programmers who want to implement a touch screen driver for some individual software should be aware of this.
What's the power situation on this thing? It seems like it doesn't need its own source?

It does have its own source. Wouldn't recommend to power it of RPi, even if there is an option of a sort.
Do I need a raspberry Pi for this or can I just use it as an external monitor?

It works as an external monitor too.

well, if it's RPi I don't think setup should be any different... SSH into it and do the same thing with config file.
