Apparently not many people like this movie but it's one of my favorites. I love coming back to it from time to time.

It's less that people didn't like it. It's more that the movie had an insanely high budget which the boxoffice couldn't match at the time, even if people loved it, hence it was called a flop, then people steered away from it and VHS sales couldn't save it either. The movie was fine for sure. Not perfect, but good fun.
I lived on the Big Island when they were filming that off of Kawaihai. When I was transferred to the Mainland, my going away party was on a Red Sail catamaran and we circled the atoll while they filmed the atoll battle scene. I could tell stories for days about the talent and the crap that happened during the filming.

Do tell my bro, do tell.
When you listen to the model makers talking they are so modest in their achievements but it takes great imagination and skill together with experience to produce these models so realistically.

They are way too modest! That underwater city of Denver was incredible!
It is sad that the submerged cities had so little screen time. They did a good job. Like always. This is an underrated film. Despite the scientific inaccuracy of the excess water coming from the melting of the poles. Other films have worse scientific inaccuracy and no one complains.

@@Pdalow Its much more symbolic than RW. Its the ocean coming up. The earth is speaking. I love the movie. The horses at the end were from a barn on my land, in the same valley (Waipio). I think it is a movie only mariners understand....

Best of all: done with off-the-shelf tools and plugins(by Arete), not some proprietary stuff like it was so common with VFX houses at the time.

I am absolutely loving this seemingly never ending series of interviews - I'm sure I am re-watching some without realising, but it didn't matter, they bear repeating! It would be great to see some snippets of the actual film scenes alongside the stories, but I guess there are copyright considerations...

There should have been more underwater shots, they were incredible
The future ,the polar ice caps have melted covering the Earth with water , those who survived , have adapted to a new world

Is there a specific reason why this film got such bad reviews / rep - Why all the hate ? 🤔 I think it was a good watch anyways ✌️
old movies looks tons better than the 3d stuff.
now THERES a Movie that just SCREAMS OUT for a REMAKE !!! kevin costner was so wrong for that movie, Jason Momoa would be so much better but he's already Aquaman. John Boyega Michael B Jordan David Oyelowo somebody NEW !!!
Sad they didn't make it a 3D movie.
So much great creativity and artistry...wasted on such a garbage movie.
There's a ridiculously funny review of this stupid movie on the FART PARTY youtube channel!
