Watercolor Pouring Backgrounds
Watercolor Pouring Backgrounds Tutorial. Using three colors I will share how to use the watercolor pouring method to create a soft atmospheric background. Resulting in beautiful color mixes of golden yellow, lilac, and a cinnamon peach! By learning how to pour a soft background you can begin to add watercolor pouring to your artwork and take some frustration out of creating soft back drops. I will also share how to correct back runs/blossoms/blooms that are a common issue in watercolor pouring.

I love this Buffy! Thank you for sharing. Love that you added the tip for softening blooms. I do something similar, but hadn’t tried the rewetting after softening. Your video just popped up on my KZread feed this morning and so happy I found you. Now heading over to Instagram to tag you on some recent Florida sunsets I’ve been doing using a similar concept and a few more brush strokes. 🙏Blessings to you!

Really enjoying learning all these new techniques. Do you stretch your paper before working or just tape it down?
@watercolorpour
11 ай бұрын
16" x 20" and down I do not stretch/ just tape. For larger paintings I stretch, staple, and tape.
I loved this video! What brand of stencil did you use? It’s one that is very versatile and could be used for a lot of botanical paintings.

What's the difference between hot and cold press? Best uses for?
@watercolorpour
Жыл бұрын
with my style of painting it seems the cold press does better with wet painting, (wet on wet, watercolor pouring) and the hot press works better with direct painting, wet on dry paper, sketching and painting , where less water is used.
How do you use the stenciling? Are you putting down or removing paint?
@watercolorpour

I am removing paint, I call this technique stencil lifting

Hi, thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I use scotch tape for paintings 11" x 14" or smaller, saves me a lot of money as it is less expensive than artists tape. As far as tearing or pulling up, to me it seems about the same as any other tape I have tried. TIPS: try not to let paint/water pool along the tape line (wipe with tissue along tape line) and try not to apply heat directly to tape line if using a dryer (this applies to all tape used) lastly make sure the painting is 100% dry before removing the tape -this seems to work for me. Hope this helps
