5 different watercolor texture techniques to make your painting stand out
Фильм және анимация
Welcome to a Part 1 of different watercolor texture techniques you must know to make your painting stand out.
These simple techniques will enhance your painting and give it a little bit of character. You will see how adding a little bit of texture can really make your painting come to life.
These are especially good watercolor textures for beginners as they will get you off to a pretty good start in your watercolor journey!
I will explain how to easily navigate through adding these textures and make them work for you. Some textures are simple while others require a little bit more trial and error to really find a way that works. However I have done my part of trialing so you don’t have to. All you gotta do is watch this video!
If you are ever after some more tutorials with watercolor I do also have SkillShare classes over at www.skillshare.com/profile/Gi...

So basically you can use literally anything around the household to create beautiful art. Genius. But, the thing is you're still gonna need that imagination 😅

MOST EXCELLENT TEACHING VIDEO, ALL ACTION, FAST UNDERSTANDING OF TECHNIQUES! THANKS
I love how you demonstrated with complete little sketchy pieces. LOVE that. Everyone else does the technique on separate scrap paper but never shows how to elevate/incorporate the technique into actual art. Well done!
I’ve watched so many watercolor tips videos and get nothing. Ten seconds into this, I was in awe. Thank you! 🤗💙🦋

i really appreciate your tips, as i used to like art journaling but i'm trying to avoid using acrylics since they are basically plastic, now thanks to you i feel like i can have tons of fun recreating the same feel with my favourite art supplies - watercolours and coloured pencils, and inks. huge thumbs up, and thank you ! i gotta add : i LOVE your channel name, it's both cute and funny

Great video. Have you ever tried using salt. Large and small grains of salt, place it on the wet paint leaves great rocks looking texture. Let the painting dry before removing the salt.

Cheers, and yes I have second part to this video where I use salt :)
Wonderful. Could you please tell me which gold were you using there?

this is probably a dumb question but with the masking tape/cello tape... do you use the sticky side or the back side???
Love this video, very helpful! Does it matter the concentration of alcohol that you use? It’s hard to find any over 70% where I live.
@OneToothMoose
2 жыл бұрын
hey! thank you. I have not used alcohol that is bellow 90% so I couldn't tell you if it will make a big difference. I bought mine off ebay, it came in a small bottle and it lasts for a very long time.
THis is so great, thank you so much for sharing these videos. I do have a question. I am trying to apply your techniques, but, for example, when I make dots in yellow, over a background color, they aren't as dark as yours. Is that because of my actual paints? I have tried many different levels of water. What is the brand of paint you use? I love your work!!!
@OneToothMoose
3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for your comment! Can you let me know which part of the video you are talking so i can be more precice with my answer? The darkness can also depend on how wet the background is - normally if i want any texture that doesn't just blend into the background I will wait for the certain areas to go semi dry. I don't use professional grade watercolours so most likely it isn't your paint. Sometimes certain colors have more pigment than others. If you want the paint to spread better you can try mixing your color with a little bit of ox gall. But yes let me know which part you are talking about :)
what kind of watercolors do you use? Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed that!
@OneToothMoose

thank you ! and i use kuretake watercolors. Very affordable and very lovely to paint with
Great video. Exactly what tape do you use to make your borders. I can’t find a tape that doesn’t pull off the surface of the paper.
@OneToothMoose

I just use cheap masking tape. If it gets too stuck try using a hair drier to loosen up the glue and it should peel off with ease!

Thank you for the video! Please tell me what kind of paper do you use?
@OneToothMoose
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Natalia, I tend to go for either Bockingford cold press if I want more affordable yet good option or arches cold press if I can afford a higher end watercolour paper
Hi! Can I use something else than alcohol to make that same effect?
Great tips did you just use water and watercolour paint from the second method or all alcohol.....and Sorry beginner are you using watercolour paper. Thankyou
@OneToothMoose
Жыл бұрын
No need to apologise! I used alcohol there. I've got a second part video where I show how to use water to create different effect. And yes I use watercolor paper, otherwise it won't work as well, and other papers don't hold water very well. Hope that answers your questions! Let me know if i can help you with anything else :)
Thank you for all tips😊 Can you please tell me what is the brand of the paper you used?

Hey guys! Thank you for watching! If you have any questions just leave a comment!
Is alcohol nail paint remover?
i really love the first texture... i tried it ... unfortunately i can't make it work. its either the kind of paper I'm using /pait or maybe the alcohol solution cos I'm only using 70% .

Alcohol must be at least 90%. Here in USA it comes in 70/91/99%. I use 91%. Good luck.
Where is your accent from? Nice video! I especially like the tape, when there are no lined edges. Thank you.
