    20 years of making your own samples, with no end in sight, builds you quite a library of sounds and tones you can mix and match. So even when Trent releases something new it sounds familiar.

    @@MrKlove01 Yep back when TDS had just came out. You basically had the fans who listened to PHM, and Broken, then the new fans who just heard Closer on MTV and hopped on the bandwagon, lol. Lot's of metal fans wearing Metallica tees or ACDC. So I tried to find the people with the Ministry shirts or Skinny Puppy to find the people actually in the know. To me the term "Industrial" just meant detailed, meticulous, and thoughtful. Not just about sick guitar solos and a nice groove. The music is a little more sublime. Not that traditional metal is bad or anything. They were obviously great musicians and song writers but people like Trent, Jack Dangers, and Al were great artists. They created their own instruments by using samples of sounds and manipulate them with synths and computers. Today it's how a lot of music is made, especially hip hop.

  • @MrKlove01

    @MrKlove01

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@thisisisabella3634 NIN was my introduction to industrial. I was in my last semester of college when PHM came out and HLaH had been on pretty heavy rotation on MTV. I couldn't hear it enough at that time. Even having a decent college radio station, which we did, hadn't made as much of an impact on me as that spng. I grabbed PHM as soon as I could and it didn't leave my CD player for months. I happened to be in the record store the day Broken hit the shelves (I haunted those places almost daily back then, so it's probably not as much of a coincidence as all that) and grabbed it without having heard anything at all, popped it in the car and was in awe. It was so much more raging and primal than PHM, but I loved it. Gave Up has been one of my favorite tracks since that first listen. It was Broken that got me started seeking out the NIN bootlegs and, from there, that led to 1000 Homo DJs, which led directly to Ministry, and then to SP, MBM, Throbbing Gristle, etc. I give complete credit to Trent for blowing the doors off my previously relatively tame musical tastes. I still enjoy most of the music that I had listened to prior to that, but NIN was what led me to realize that there was something truly artistic at work there where I had previously only heard noise.

    @NessyMultimedia When you say, "coming from someone who likes the original and also loves NIN", you're presenting your love for the band as a factor, so yes, you did. And that's coming from someone who teaches the meaning of sentence structures and likes potato chips.
