I remember growing up in the 90s. The Cranberry's music was so therapeutic for me, a teenger at the time. The album Ode to My Family is perfection imo. Dolore's passing hit me really hard. I hope she knew how many people appreciated and was helped by her music. 🙏 ❤🖤❤

Same here. I remember that their songs were healing and helped me through my first failed relationship. I had been listening to The Cranberries for a while, but the album "Bury the Hatchet" came out around this time (I listened to "Promises" and "Saving Grace" most often). I still love Dolores.

I was in Warrington, my home town, the day before Johnathan and Tim were killed. (Tim actually died in hospital 5 days later.) I had my children with me, buying Mother’s Day gifts. My kids were the same age as the two who died. Cranberries were touring England and this affected Dolores hugely. RIP Johnathan, Tim and the wonderful Dolores.

@@tdogg1157 I get what you’re saying. Perhaps my comment was a little ambiguous. Dolores was prompted to write the song by the Warrington bombings. I believe her sentiments, from the anger and grief I’ve seen in other interviews, was for the children in not only Ireland, but for all children caught up in adult’s conflicts. The war in Northern Ireland was between the Protestant unionists, or loyalists and the Roman Catholic republicans. The British army weren’t invaders, although there was long standing animosity due to the actions of the Black and Tans, they were part of a peacekeeping force along with the Royal Ulster Constabulary RUC and the Ulster Defence Regiment UDR. It was a nasty time and I lost close friends. There were unforgivable actions on all sides by all parties. No one is free of blame.

I’m 18 years old and have listened to this band since I was a baby. It was my parents favorite band when they were still together and every single one of their songs gives a wave of nostalgia and makes me tear up when I listen. The death of the main singer, Dolores left me a feeling of emptiness and despair and I couldn’t listen to their music for a while. Now I own most of their physical albums and their music is my escape from the world. It hurts knowing I’ll never get to see and hear my heros in person.

Zombie is, of course a criticism of the savagery of the conflict between the extremists of both the Protestant and Catholic communities in Northern Ireland, refusing at the time to attempt reconciliation and stuck in an endless cycle of retaliation upon retaliation for every murder. There are still those who seem to want to get back to this rather than nurture the peace. You should look into 'Mass Destruction' by Faithless for an equally powerful critique of hatred. In fact look into all of their stuff (such as 'Insomnia'), they're brilliant.

Searching for answers about everything we want to happen in our lives. Ode to my family: was wrote for Dolores about children and people that were tear apart in the war. Families destroyed 💔 When you're gone: wrote after her dad died. Also, it refers to her depression and how she was searching for support in her family 👪 Zombie: wrote because of two children killed by bombs of IRA (Irish republican army) terrorists and all the crimes of war that Ireland suffered.

“A new entity was named the New IRA (NIRA) by the media but members continue to identify themselves as simply "the Irish Republican Army". Small pockets of the Real IRA that did not merge with the New IRA continue to have a presence in the Republic of Ireland, particularly in Cork and to a lesser extent in Dublin.”

Great reaction, dear. Ohh Dolores, you are so missed! She was unique. One of those voices that appears once in a while. I still remember the first time I Heard ¨Ode to my family¨. I was fourteen, and stay speechless. Who are they!?!? I must say that I wasn’t one of those die hard fan, but I did enjoy their music a LOT. When she left us here, it really was a shock (I guess in many corners of the planet she was much appreciated). Now, everytime I listen any song by them, me eyes get a little watery… Some songs you might like: Animal Instinct Linger Copycat Promises Just my imagination Salvation ps: did you Heard something by Travis (scottish band)? They are around here for quite long, but were on the worldwide spotlight with ¨Sing¨ back in 2001. They have great songs, and really cool funny videos! Much love from Buenos Aires!

The Cranberries... kinda reminds me of the sad periods of my life. When voice of Dolores tried to heal the pain, the broken heart. If you will ever do another Cranbrrries reaction video, suggestions would be: Animal Instinct, Fee Fi Fo, Got It, Go Your Own Way (live) and also solo project song When We Were Young.

Wonderful reaction. I do get behind looking up the lyrics and meanings as it can be tricky to get it all, between accents, different culture and Dolores's singing style, which is so moving and emotional as you said, but sometimes hard to get every word if you're not Irish. The lyrics are so deep always.

God rest Dolores, what a beautiful soul, she never got over the sexual abuse she suffered by a bloody family member, the world got a bit darker when she left it so young, she was only in her mid 40's or something, she will forever be remembered by her countrymen and women, of which i am one, Erin go bragh and rest in peace sister 🇮🇪
