Good spot on the eyes at the beginning - the novel has Georgie seeing _blue_ eyes because both Bill's and his mother's eyes were blue. And yes, Beverly's fear was menstruation-related - she didn't want her father to see her as a woman.

@Cliffster420 that word has lost what little dumb meaning it ever had.
The wink from Bev to Ben was a joke about his love of The New Kids on the Block. “The Right Stuff” was one of their biggest hits, and it was an inside joke that they shared. “Are you sure they got ‘the right stuff’ to fix you up?”
You both were a bit right on the influence of IT. In the book he would influence people to do evil things, including Bev's dad. She said it was like he had two personalities. But he infected the whole town to turn away from the strange things that would happen and what deaths came about.

Same goes for the racism Bowers’ dad had towards Mike’s family. One of the things I didn’t like about the movie was how the made Mike’s character very insignificant when he was the archetypal Lovecraftian librarian who picks up on all the creepy happenings around town everyone else is too afraid to acknowledge
Bill Skarsgard who plays Pennywise was incredible. All the movements Pennywise makes is really Bill Skarsgard (except shape shifting obviously) . But even when his pupils go different ways , his crazy cartoon look smile is all him. Also his whole family are famous actors
Love how Hannah always has a problem with any Bully Behaviour 🙌🏾 you say it straight away. You can tell what kind of person you are, you definitely stand up for people ❤
I don't know if you guys missed it, or just edited it out. But the absolute scariest part of this movie for me was the old lady behind the boy in the library while he is reading the book (around the 12 minute mark). She stands back there looking normal at first, then the next few times it shows her she is staring at his with a very creepy look on her face. Stuff like that creeps me out big time lol

@@helios1336 It's sort of mediocre - I ccan see the kernel of a greater movie in there but they neglected to add some set pieces like the giant crow attack or the werewolf that would have made it far scarier. The actors were decent, still up in the air about Pennywise though - I wasn't even remotely 100% sold on Skarsgard's performance, the malevolence felt very forced at times vs Tim Curry's natural ability there.
One scene I wished they kept from the book was a kid seeing a giant shark swimming up the canal, after he’d just seen Jaws for the first time. Pennywise using the fear in innocent minds was really creepy.

The actor who played IT did that offset eye face with the lowered lip in the acting audition and he got the part. Apparently he would do it to his little brother to scare him when he was younger lol
I think what makes these two films so effective, is the attention to what real fear is. Trauma, loss, abuse, addiction….these are all things these kids are dealing with, and pennywise clearly is channeling trauma in finding fear to hurt them. Nothing is worse than reality, and what adults often do to children and how that follows us in life. The second half is just as good, and a great closure to the stories of all the kids!
Someone probably already pointed this out but Beverly’s, “Right stuff” comment was an inside joke to Ben because it is the title of a New Kids on the Block song, which is a callback to an earlier scene. She wasn’t flirting with him in that instance.

If you go back and watch the film again carefully, you will see Pennywise is appearing in many scenes in the background watching the children. Sometimes he will appear as a picture on a brick wall, or he is dancing around in the background at the fair. He is always watching them. Cool fact also, the scene with the projector was the first time the children ever saw what Pennywise looked like. Those are genuine screams :D

When they were treating Ben's wounds and Beverly asked him, "Are you sure they 'got the right stuff?'" She wasn't exactly flirting. Nice pick up on the eye color changing early on Ash, that theme is used in several Stephen King novels (i.e the dark tower series). I think there was something in the book (it’s been a minute since I read it) where the reason IT chose Derry was because the adults tended to look the other way. Thereby making it easier for IT to terrorize the children.
i don’t know if you realized but most of the victims are children because their fears are “easy to create” (dark places, clowns, monsters, etc). Unlike adults, who fear “superficial” things, like loneliness, the loss of a loved one, so it’s harder to recreate it.

Just a question you know The Shinning, The Green Mile and IT are written by the same author Stephen King and all take place within the King Multiverse. Also, can we just appreciate how Hannah says "It's art darling" perfect accent. Also Ash you are 100% right IT is an entity from a universe beyond our own, a higher dimension. IT is a being of pure ravenous consumption. Fear is ITs ultimate weapon. According to IT, fear makes the meat taste better because ITs true form is beyond our comprehension, IT cannot be seen by us. IT was wounded in a great battle with another being from the Macroverse ITs home dimension and IT landed or crashed, in Derry Maine, forever damaged but far from beaten. While it seems IT cannot regain ITs full power or return wholly to the Macroverse IT is far more powerful and complex a being compared to human beings. Thus impossible for us to destroy IT even if we were aware of IT and its presence. Also when IT landed IT's very essence IT's evil began immediately corrupting the entire area of the land on which Derry would one day be built. As a result, every single slab of concrete, wooden pole or blade of grass is a part of IT. IT even affected the people who can't see or listen to that voice that tells them to stand up, look out or be counted. They ignore it because IT is affecting them. IT targets children mostly because children's fears are more corporeal than that of adults whose fears are infinitely more complex. But if you got an adult who was really afraid of spiders, cats or dogs etc. IT could easily take them. In the book a black club called The Black Spot was burned down by members of a racist group, Dick Holleran from The Shinning was there. IT was there too and in the form of a giant crow, IT swept down and carried off people in the crowd in the confusion. IT is definitely one of the most terrifying ideas in any medium. King has come up with so many freighting evil beings like IT, Leland Gaunt, Kurt Barlow, The Overlook Ghosts, The True Knot worst of all of them Randall Flagg. But they all reflect very human fears and evils, IT is that fear people have of children becoming victims of evil grown-ups. As King himself said, "Pennywise/IT is a great stand-in for someone like Ted Bundy. He didn't look like a monster but he killed god knows how many women and girls, some were just children really". That is Stephen King's genius. Please watch The Shinning's better sequel Doctor Sleep.

"He needs so many toothbrushes... :) You guys slay me.
Pennywise: We all float down here. Yes, we do. We all float. Ash: Oh my gosh, symbolisms! Pennywise: ... What? Ash: The large forehead, and the dancing, and the balloons! How many are there? 97, 98, 99... 99 red balloons! It's symbolisms! Pennywise: (confused as f*ck) Ash: *SYMBOLISMS!*
ASH I LOVE YOUR HUMOUR, YOU ARE ONE FUNNY PERSON, I SO ENJOY YOUR REACTIONS TO VIDEOS, U AN HANNAH ARE GREAT TOGETHER
pennywise does in fact influence the adults to ignore what's going on so he can prey on the kids in the town with ease. also i believe all of kings books are in the same universe.
The clown was played by Bill Skarsgard him and his whole family are gifted actors amazing talents! His dad played in "Good will Hunting". A Swedish family pretty much if you see Skarsgard in the list of actors it's worth seeing. His older brother played Floki in "Vikings". Steven King is a great writer it's either a homerun or a wtf? With King. I love his work and have paperbacks of Kings all over my place. Some are Amazing some were so bad I couldn't even finish them.

Love that film. It's highly underrated.
Subscribed yesterday. Great channel. You need to watch the second IT as it is bonkers and hella fun.
Very on point in picking out the main clues 🕵️♀️ it’s nice to see a lighthearted couple with a good sense of humour. You both “mesh well” together 😉
Tim Curry was iconic as Pennywise in the television version in the 80s, and Bill Skarsgard had to pull it off with his turn. Both Pennywises were the best thing in both versions, including the weaker sequels or adult versions. The adult storyline wasn’t as engaging as when they were kids; however, the film version is better than its TV counterpart. Ash was shocked that Georgie was killed off as a kid in a horror movie, but this was in the book by Stephen King. IT (2017) is much more gruesome than the two-parts TV version. Ash might be interested in The Blob remake (1988), where there is no mercy just because you’re a child. Also, another Stephen King adaptation where a toddler was killed off is the classic Pet Semetery (1989), and Miko Hughes did a fantastic job.
Can't wait for y'all to watch chapter 2
Nice. Glad you guys got to this. Btw they filmed this in a town in my province in Ontario Canada. Hamilton amongst other places I believe. Cheers
Hannah slow mo screams and gags are the best hahahah
Please do part 2, and maybe the original miniseries from 1990, with Tim Curry as Pennywise
Bill Skarsgård was Pennywise. He did an amazing job, and the eye thing was his real eyes.
You guys are great.....love the channel ..... All the best from New York.... 👍
and now you HAVE to see part 2 of IT :D
When Hannah is shitting herself she doesn’t seem to be able to work out what’s happening. Ash you nailed it this time. Need to keep a score. 🤣 Trainspotting is worth a watch.

The bit in the beginning with the Sombre, spooky piano music only to reveal it's the mum playing is really cute/funny, and does a fantastic job of hinting at how messed up the adults are
Again, love you guys! hugsies
The death well wish theory made me laugh- I LOVE YOUR SYMBOLISM ASHHH
You are both right. It has the power to see within the fears and uses that to build up more fear. I would like to see you cosplaying this film, Hannah like Pennywise and Ash like Georgie (with an arm less) 😸 would be awesome! You could do it when you see chapter 2 🤡
Love the part when Ash said "Hannah so, emotionally attached". It's too funny 🤣🤣.

The fist time that I watched this movie I was just like Ash “kids are not save in this, I’m in” I thought it was going to be toned down because they were kids.
