Netflix is getting ready to drop one of its biggest and most highly anticipated shows of the year. Starring Henry Cavil, The Witcher follows a monster-fighting mutant named Geralt as he traverses the harsh landscape of a fantasy world that despises him.
Adapted from a series of widely beloved novels and short stories by famed Polish author Andrej Sapkowski, which have also previously been adapted into a popular series of video games.
Cavill’s Geralt belongs to a race of human mutants known as Witchers, who were born out of magic and endowed with the superhuman ability to fight terrifying monsters. Working as a bounty hunter, Geralt travels from place to place and takes out whatever monster of the week is terrorizing any particular village. And while you might think that would make him popular, Witchers are notoriously reviled and hated by every other species, because of all sorts of rumours about them and their kind.
The series will see Geralt become linked to a young woman known as Princess Cirilla, who has spent her life in the sheltered comforts of a royal family. When she loses everything and everyone she loves in one night, she sets out to find Geralt, as her mother tells her he is the only one who can protect her. Along with them, we will also meet a powerful sorceress named Yennifer, whose terrible childhood left her full of rage and resentment, but also incredible power.

I have just started the show and I like it even tough I am not familiar with the books at all and have only watched a bit of the 3rd games lets play by someone due to its hype the places sound and look so unfamiliar to me but I already start to love geralt he is a really interesting protagonist and I am interested to learn more about him and this new world to me.

my main gripe is that by releasing all the episodes at once the series won't be able to build up the monstrous momentum GoT did. The hype will last maybe for a month then everybody will forget the show because something new will show on the horizon.

Yeah I agree. I am on the fence about this. I love binge watching. So much in fact that I have not even started the Mandalorian lol. It kills me. But at the same time I did love waiting for GOT to hit the tv. I'd make sure nothing could interfere. With The Mandalorian it's going to be binge everything in the day before the last episode and catch that right when it drops!

Guys his name is Geralt. Geralt of Rivia was The title that he earned. Also he chose it. But his name is Geralt. I understand it he would tell that his real name was Ravik of Fourhorn or Gwynbleidd. But już name is Geralt. I read the books i Player The games and i watch Polish witcher series. Sory for grammar but i am from Poland.

So im new to The Witcher & wasn't sure if I should play, watch or read something 1st I decided to look up some stuff on KZread & found this 😁 now I feel like im gonna start to watch the show and some more lore stuff before I play the Witcher 3

Anyone else hate the idea of Henry as Geralt until you heard he'd loved the game. Than read the books. I am actually really happy he is doing it now and I think visually he fits the role better than I could have expected from the trailers. I remember hearing he was doing it and saying no no No NONO!

Witcher's actually have a dull sense of emotions which was caused due to the mutation however, Geralt was put through a special program as he showed a heightened immunity to them which altered him differently from a typical Witcher so emotion's are usually perceived slightly differently from him because he is a little different.

Weeeeell, im in the 2nd novel and cant talk much about that, but as long as I know, other witcher have their emotions just as geralt or normal humans, everione (eskel, lambert, coën, lambert, vesemir and geralt) cares for ciri, they can feel embrassment, fear, empathy and regret, being so, i think the whole thing about no emotions is just a rumour that was born from the witchers' well known greed (not exclusively true as well)
To best creation to come from the land of Poland but they swear a lot haha
I'm looking forward to seeing this. I couldn't care less about skin colour, as long as it's a good story and well acted. Judging by the trailer, It looks good and the cast look the part - regardless of race.

I have mixed feelings for Henry Cavil playing Geralt in the show, but I am going to go into the show with an open mind.
I can't wait to see the Witcher I think it will be cool
No doubt that Henry Cavill is pumped enough and handsome enough to be the Witcher he just isn't rough/rugged looking enough to be.

Henry is gonna kill it as Geralt. He is huge fan of Witcher universe and he understand this character perfectly. He said that he read all the books and he also played Witcher 3 few times... He is perfect Geralt and we as the Witcher fans couldnt ask for better actor to play him.
Please learn how to pronounce Gerarlt.

Try to say the Polish title Wiedźmin Btw Andrzej Sapkowski wanted to call his book name that wasn't even similar to Witcher but i don't remember it.

Unless the producer is removed, this will be yet another show that is going down the drain. Bad press! Stick to the books or game, lest you want to heartbroken over cancelled show or dulled out storyline with no essence of the witcher grandeur.

I hate this narrator. You basically spit on witcher
Ugh, every time you mispronounced Geralt's name I cringed. lmao A review's credibility instantly starts to decline when the Main protagonist's name of all things is mispronounced. There were so many inaccurate things in this. It helps to do some research on what you're reviewing sometimes, but you do get views either way though when you're reviewing something popular and that's all that matters I suppose. lol It looks like Geralt only has one sword in the show from this trailer too so that really lowers my expectations on how much it's based off the gaming trilogy.
So basically, President Trump is a Witcher!
For once we need this normal serie like the old school what we don't need all LGBTQ bullshit. Wait and see if this serie is coming out without all that bullshit rotten tomatoe and all the other site is going give shit score while all user score is going to be at highest score.
