Thank you for pointing that out!! As a teacher at home coming here has been a bit challenging simply because you don’t teach. You can’t deliver the lesson as you would like because of communication barriers. So yes you are right. I wish more people spoke about that. Not all but some qualified teachers may struggle a bit simply because you love teaching but you can’t teach as you would like.This experience has been amazing but that ‘rush man if this were my class, I could do so much more.’ But yha hey😂 my first semester that ct gave me depression. Was so toxic. I love your honesty.

It’s a pleasure Babe! I had to make this video because I figured people don’t speak much about what we actually do here, especially about CT’s too. I wish I could also do more in my classes, but I can’t, I feel that these kids need more but…I guess I use camp time to do what I want because I’m usually in charge of it and my CT allows me to be as creative as I want, problem is that not enough kids pitch 😅 I hope you have a new CT 👀 I wouldn’t be able to work with someone that made me feel uncomfy in any way

I love that advice: involving people in your decision-making can really break you. Just use their input to mitigate the risk, but this must be after you have concluded your decision

Yep! I learnt the hard way. I don’t take ppl on decision making journeys anymore. I decide then let you know, probably even before whatever happens 😅 like my journey here, I kept it hush till a few weeks I needed to fly.

Well done, well said!! From all the English teachers I saw in KZread you are the best realistic one. Age is no the limit is only different time to start adventures and new life style. I realized at 50 all my life in the end I always do society or family standards. No any more😊 One way ticket tu South Korea is only a notification no a consultation or opinion wise. Never is late for nothing. I read many years ago " you don't know how many things your lost in live only from the scared to try " Well done B🎉

Eyyy Babe, this is how we get into hot water lol imagine criticising your work place , only for a student or CT to see it 😖

I hate that textbook. I wasn't given the Teacher's Guides for my grades, and the internet at the school blocks the online resources so I have to make it all from just looking at the pictures in the kids textbooks. Open classes are not mandatory in my province. I've done a few but usually the CoT for that class asks me if it's ok first. I had one CoT plan an open class for me without checking and the VP put him on blast for it. As far as CoTs.... thats a mixed bag. I currently have 8 who are fantastic. My first CoT was fine for the first couple of years and then went into full STALKER mode. He harrassed me to the point the OE told the school he is not allowed to be in a room alone with me. Tjat didn't stop either the in-class.or online bullying. The kids reported him constantly for his behaviour toward me in the classroom. Think toxic male bully in k-dramas. He actually put his hand in my face to tell me to "stop!" While I taught. I could literally stick my tongue out and lick his hand it was so close. Then he'd waggle it in my face and say 'start' when HE was ready for me to teach my class, like I was q disobedient dog - which he often called me. He had no problem shouting at me in front of the class or throwing stuff at me. Demanding I create lesson plans for him to teach, stealing my snack supplies (that I pay for), entering my apartment whenever he wanted (he had a key and the school wouldn't let me change it), he would let himself in, eat the food in my fridge or if he saw something he liked he would just take it. I put a camera in the apartment to report him to the police. He'd wait in my building parking lot after work and scream at me until the old lady who lived across from me threatened him if he came again. He tried to sue me for defamation when I reported his behavior to the school AND my Embassy got involved. I reported him to the OE, they gave my report to the school. The school said I needed to be quiet and do my job, so it just got worse. I was ready to run, but the OE asked me to wait for my contract to end and transfer instead because I always score very high with the students. If the Embassy hadn't got involved I think they'd have still expected me to suck it up and keep working with him. There were no consequences on his end. My new schools (I also have travel schools) and CoTs are amazing.

OMG BABE!!!! This is me right now Redding your text 😳😳😳😳 WTF!!! I’m so sorry you endured such with your previous CT! You had to figure it all out by yourself? Goodness me! I’m so glad you reached out to the embassy too! Gee, I would’ve been scared for life! How did you last that long without quitting 😣 you’re certainly way more brave than I am. I also can’t believe you work with X8 CT’s (I wouldn’t cope 🥹) geez, I’m guessing you probably teach at 3-4 schools?? I’m happy you have moved to another school, and by the look of things, things seems to be going well there. I hope you never ever have to go through what you did, and as much as your start here may have not been great, it’s good to see that you haven’t allowed it to ruin your stay in Korea! I love this country, there are a few baddies just like everywhere really, but I’ve vowed never to cancel any country because of a few individuals! I hope the remainder of your contract and time here is super fab! Thank you for sharing your story with me, sending lots of love your way ❤️❤️❤️
