it will blow people's minds when they find out EVERY genre is oversaturated. This is not the 80s, everybody has access to music and the tools to make music. And it does not matter at all, as long as you are satisfied with what you create, who cares?

Not in the way lofi is lmao. A lot of other "bad" music that floods other genres, is still made in studio. get a little money so they fund a music career become the dolly parton or Britney clone of their dreams. Like why did marky zuccs sister make that awful shit, no more then 100k views and 100k in debt. There is not a country scene that lives outside of labels at this degree and scale. There really isn't 24/7 youtube ecosystems around country radios with American art loops. nor is that baseline of quality or countryt frat pop geniunely that replicatable without the huge board with all the knobs like lofi hipohop beats are.The best comparison is indie. ANy human with a guitar pedal thinks they can be the next mac or clario

@@nyxx7813 "you can't really studio your work to play boy Cardi" That might be the reason that there arent any 24/7 radios streams for country + lo-fi is way more international since vocals really don't matter, there is every language and every alphabet written in those chats, so even if there are a lot of producers, they still balance it out with the viewers

Thanks for taking the time to talk about this L.Dre. lots of very good points mentioned throughout. I myself get really excited when something different comes in via submission, I hear the same samples over and over again far to often. Things are changing for sure, experimental Lofi/Chillhop...Prog-Fi? feels very real right now - it's expanding what I'm looking for as a label these days. I love it 💜

Dude I've been in this genre since 2017 with OG labels in genre Homeworkradio and Neotic Records. Yes, it's become oversaturated with the same sound and style. However, it presents an opportunity to explore new things within the genre and stand out. That's what I'm doing. On the downside, you won't receive support from playlists and Spotify's algorithm itself. Your growth will be steady, but in the end, it's all worth experimenting Everything have its good and badside Lets cherish the good side of it and continue progressing Great video brother.

I always play your songs when I am going to work or when i go out of the gym and its relaxing. but your songs never feel like just a lofi Beat i am listening to. I listen to someone who puts the work in his songs and shows how much passion you have for this genre and has a great Personality. Your songs are masterpieces to me and i enjoy every moment of it. thank you 😎

really insightful and wise take on this dude! Definitely seems like there is a big opportunity to make yourself stand out by figuring your own take/personality/brand and putting in the grind on social media to get that extra prescence. It can be a bit overwhelming seeing the insane amount of super high quality stuff that comes out in this genre week after week, but finding something a little unique to lean into seems like a great way to cut through. Thanks for sharing all this killer knowledge man!

great video! i do think it is very Saturated but the thing that keeps me going is when i look at these long playlist and see that they are 10 hours long it means that the market has to be kinda saturated because they are always looking for new beats to keep it fresh. so well in other generas too many people might be too much i think lofi works with it due to the amount of lofi playlist/radios putting together these long playlist and always needing beats.

Don’t be discouraged dude :) if it helps don’t be so focused on getting bigger be focused on getting better. Anyone who listens to a good track will come back to it or share and spread the song. It takes a lot of grinding but the work can pay off but you just need to give it time and always focus on improving your craft. whenever you get the chance there’s a few songs out there that opened my eyes on how I should approach music and maybe it’ll help you :) it’s called Let’s Begin, and The Internet both by Jon Bellion. Listen to the lyrics especially during the internet. To me those two track and most of the album the two songs are from basically gave me the blueprints on how to approach music. I would also recommend looking up Kennybeats advice videos on KZread everything he says is solid. L. Dre even put out a video last week I think of him doing an interview on another artist on his L. Dre TV channel and it had some of the most insightful advice on how to approach music and lofi. I hope this helps both you and anyone who stumbles upon this!

Hi Ldre, thanks for this videos! Maybe for a next video you can talk about this new issue with Distrokid & Spotify. There is al lot of producers that get strikes or get there music taken off Spotify. This all about fake streams and botted playlist. Without ever submitting to playlists. There is a lot that is not clear for us. And both parties not give any comments or whatever.

Appreciate your perspective L Dre. You can either have a “glass half full or glass half empty” mentality when it comes to the question of over saturation of this genre. Here's the recipe for anyone who is interested in making music their full time career: release *good music* + *consistently* + over a *long* period of time 💪 The last ingredient is really important cause luck does play a roll. For L.Dre, he WAS ready when the pandemic brought an audience. L.Dre, you may THINK you weren't ready but bro, when the luck came your way you had a large, bingeable catalog for all the fans to flock to and stream. You've done incredible so far, and you're barely in the 2nd Act. I myself am approaching the end of the 1st Act, and Boi you better clench those cheeks CAUSE IM COMING FOR YOU!!! 😂

The good thing about lofi is that it's really just an aesthetic which can be applied to any genre (jazz, classical, hip hop etc.) and I think there is still room to explore new genres at this time. Maybe in the future everything will have been 'lofi'd' but I don't think we're at that point.

  • @mcnels0n

The issue is everyone is trying to walk the same path, everyones going for the same big editorial playlists so they have to make the same sound, producers need to market themselves even if that means making and growing your own lofi playlist.

Great points. I wish Distro Kid had a "beats" section when uploading music. And then more specific styles. That way it could possibly shape your algorithm to your style of beats; and it could grow interest and playlists in other styles. The one genre people see you can simply make beats and have a chance to get some good streams is lofi. I've been on several lofi playlists and have a few tracks to get 20k streams. But several playlist curators have told me they love the tracks but it was to upbeat or didn't have this type of sound etc. I'm thinking if you love it why not give it a shot to see how it does. lol. But many seem to want to stick with the go to sound. So the saturation comes from producers trying to mimic the formula that the curators seem to be very specific to.

I've been releasing lofi music for around 2 years now. It's definitely saturated but it's also speaking and growing into so many sub genres (chillhop, sleepy, ambient etc) and that's making it feel so much less saturated. As an artist you can find your own niche within the genre and make a name for yourself inside that ☺️ I've had some minor success in doing this and building my brand on KZread too

I think lo-fi is saturated because it's kinda easy to make. I think a lot of people struggle with mixing and stuff and Lo-Fi is a way to express their art and the mixing doesn't need to be top notch... if anything the low quality stuff is the art haha. It is definitely difficult to balance lo-fi and good mixing which is what puts producers like yourself ahead of the others!

Interesting take! I personally am just SO sick of lo-fi beats because it's all I hear anywhere as someone who likes to produce music as a hobby. Oh, there's a cool new groove box? "Check out my KO 2 lo-fi beat", or "new to OP-1, check out my lo-fi beat". I don't doubt there is a huge demand for this type of music in a broad sense, but I feel like this is the modern equivalent of elevator music or "hold music" and that is just not appealing to me to create or "actively" listen to at all.

4:00 I see you are quite ironic there but yeah that's pretty much what they are doin and for years. is easy to check just go in 'lofi sleep' editorial and check first 200 artists, 90% are artists with from 1 to 6 tracks, in 7 or even more editorial playlists, released track as indiependent, no collab no bio, not even profile pic, even if recently I saw some fake artists with a bio and a propic, and also collab o.o but no instagram linked and if you search the artist name on google you pretty much find anything, and this is suspicios. the same seems to happen on piano music, on ambient and music for sleep that is a big chunk of streams in the platform. A you told at the very start of the video, 90% of listeners us this music as backgroudn they don't even care who made the beat, if isn't that good or even check the profile to see more or listen more of that particular artist, legit or fake:(

In my opinion- The over saturation of lofi isn't the actual issue. Its low quality record producers who see lofi as a way to make a quick buck with little to no effort on their part thats the problem. It doesn't oversaturate the game necessarily as there is a high demand for lofi, it commodifies the end product. That's the problem.
