To add onto the gear point: One thing newcomers to the music game miss is that limit breeds creativity. Cutting down my sample packs, plugins, etc. to the essentials that I have used and know I will use in the future helped immensely. Because I no longer enter choice paralysis as I don't really have that many choices. So now I need to get the sound in my head using the tools that I have available. Sometimes it results in trash, sometimes I'm on point, sometimes it comes out better than expected. That's all part of the fun.

Having a release schedule helps with overthinking. If you're like, I need to release "2 beats and 3 pieces of short form this week", that obligation is usually enough to get me to pull my head out of my ass and just do something. Even if it's not my favorite beat, or maybe I'm not the most stoked on how the short form turned out, that obligation to consistency pulls me out of my overthinking.

The thing I do to not overthink is figure what needs to get done at that moment and break it down to bite size steps. Also i write down what i did for the day to track weekly my habits, because its easy to forget what you've done throughout th week.

Great video bro! Droppin gems! I'm just now finally starting to see a tiny bit of traction on some of my original music here on KZread. The first track I ever dropped on streaming services back in 2020 has about 250ish plays on KZread and a track I put out on Friday got over 100 plays in one day, another 100 the next day, and another song released the same day performed similarly. I'm learning some things from experimenting with waterfall releases already and it's exciting! It turns out KZread was suggesting my videos to a lot of people and some folks are commenting on them, liking them, adding them to playlists. Getting a subscriber or two every day and a follower or two on Spotify here and there, and now people are finding my original music via browse features. People are actually trying to find my music which is awesome! I'm gonna be putting out content to pair with my consistent music releases in hopes of pushing the numbers up and turning the trickle of water into a huge wave.

"Just do it" pops into my head so often and I hate that it's some corporate slogan, but fk it, it's the most important lesson for everything and they just happened to trademark the simplest way to say it Also, incredible video, so simple and so true. Every artist and really just everyone in general needs to hear this. Overthinking, doubting, perfectionism, all that shit has cost me over a year of time now and this video perfectly sums everything up. No more wasting time, just going to enjoy the ups and downs and keep getting a little closer to my dream each day

If you're scared to make content, just remember how YOU watch youtube video's. You don't care about how it's edited, the person in it. You just watch it. It's the same thing with releasing music. It can only help you grow. Just do it yeah, nobody caresss. I think we all know this but it's the 'being a human' that makes us overthink. We want to be accepted by the growd. We want to be a part of something. Great video @L.Dre !

honestly I think I have the opposite problem, of sometimes making a beat in one day, sending it to a label the same evening and then being dissatisfied with the mix when it comes out a few months later, but also listening to it again months after the release appreciating it for its authenticity , and it was a piece of what led me today to have the numbers I have, not insane but not disappointing enough to have to radically change my approach while the second point: that nothing really has too much importance, this too has always been a mantra of mine, I have always been someone who doesn't give much weight to certain things, especially material or aesthetic ones in people, but I believe that they are two focal and important points and the video is and will be very useful for many people!

I think the larger problem here is that this overthinking doesn't even come from us. We're only influenced to overthink when we don't stand for anything, don't trust in ourselves, and place too much emphasis on our passions, rather than our own personal growth. Because of this, we look to people on social media to solve these issues for us, when the problem that's being ignored is our relationship with ourselves; our strength and determination. We end up looking for someone else's guidance, when we really need to develop our own strength and principles that will keep us looking/moving forward. And the thing is, a lot of these unanswered questions in our mind will only be solved by REAL life experiences and action. The question to ask yourself is, what are you ignoring in your own life that will take you to the next level. Thanks for this video, helps a lot.

I get “analysis paralysis” writing lyrics. Eventually I just start jotting down whatever gibberish comes out my head, maybe track some of it, and turn out HALF of what I thought was a crap chorus was actually really good. The context may just be missing from the other half. Maybe change a couple words or rewrite the bridge into it so it makes sense. You don’t succeed until you just DO.

Similar to the Nike one but I think you will guess what the F stand for 😝. As for the mentor part of the video, I totally agree with that. I contacted Mondo Loops and told him I'd unofficially adopted him as my mentor as I watched loads of his videos and learned a lot from them. The good news now is that we have worked on a collaboration together under his new alias which will hopefully be out soon. Keep the videos coming please as they are a great source of inspiration. The best is to only 'overthink' your future goals while very disciplined producing stuff like a maniac. In that way you can adjust your future goals while your trail of material is already rolling out and it will mostly tell you where to go, what to stop, what not and what to add or change.

I just put like 90% of the music I make out there even though I'm still growing and I know it's not the best yet.... 2 years later I've uploaded over 350 songs and I just started two more Spotify accounts because I was putting out too many different generes on just one account. It's funny @L.Dre. This has been the exact same topic of discussion on Navie D's - Discord server. So many people tend to overthink the process, including me. And the problem is that it often restricts us from even starting. Once you analyze some the largest music producers out there, you'll realize how simple most of their songs are. When in doubt, stick to the KISS method and just create man. Don't let what-if's hold you back. Go out there, bust your ass, and in due time you'll surely be rewarded.

  • @-adc
    @-adc6 ай бұрын

Bro, overthinking is it. I have a ton of music projects started, and like, nothing stalls me out more than over-complicating where to go from there. If I just kept it simple, I would at least have something over the finish line (as the spirit moves, remix later, amiright?). But yeah, I get super stalled out with like: I need to consider ALL THE THINGS. Often burns me out, and I bail and go do something else for a while.

I'm more of an illustrator on the creative front, and the best advice I have put into practice, and always advise others is to just draw. And keep drawing. Don't let 'all the things you want to master ever' slow you down, or prevent you from simply just: drawing. All those things will come in time, and with just a constant mindset of drawing (creating).

The number 1 reason is the odds. Even if you're amazing the odds are way against the majority of artists trying to make it.

  • @Legato6669

    @Legato6669

    6 ай бұрын

That’s because majority of these artists trying to make it fail to act on what “making it” looks like to them. If you’re trying to make a living off being an artist, what are the 3 most lucrative ways musicians make money? 1) Events 2) Music Retail and 3) Music Placement for Film, TV, and Ads. If you’re not pursuing these sources on your own … why bother being in the business? This side of the coin takes a lot of WORK. Stay a hobbyist if you’re not ready for all that✌️

69th comment. posting this for myself as much as i am others. the only thing in your way from getting where you want to be is yourself. shut up and release your music. don't "hold on" to great songs because you want to perfect them. the perfect song doesn't exist. progress is what you should be after. it is January 17th, 2024 right now. release as much as you can in the next three years and then see what happens. i love you. you got this. get off KZread and get to work. yours, now and forever, the blu adonna

Disagree with posting whatever. That puts little pressure on just making something and it can kill the vibe. We are not the slaves of the algorithm...we do this to taste a little bit of freedom, not get stuck in this like a 9 to 5....

I agree with that but the message is more so for people who put too much pressure on deciding what to post while they could just start by posting anything they want
