Watch This Before Buying Killerglass Clear Radiator Hose
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Before buying a Killerglass clear radiator hose, in this video I make a DIY clear radiator hose from 1-5/8” clear vinyl hose from the local hardware store. The glass ones do look killer also! Yes I know this isn’t a perfect solution for everyone but it was a fun lab test on my turbo honda prelude. This would work great on a civic or accord or any four cylinder engine with an upper radiator hose up front.
And yes I know for all the hose clamp warriors out there these style aren’t ideal and OEM or Gates Power Grip hose clamps would be superior. Maybe in the future…

We replaced the hose from the radiator to the reservoir with clear tubing in the 90s to see if we had rust in the system. Cast iron blocks rust. We did this to the reservoir hose because it's not under pressure. If your engine mount goes that short tubing won't have enough room to move, and might break lose.
Makes total sense!
Have a question unrelated to this particular video but related to the build lol. The f20b has iron lining and not the frm right? So i can just do forge pistons or do i still need to sleeve the block?
This tubing will expand with heat and pressure, over time it will dry out from the heat and become brittle.

How many years will it take? It’s been on for a year now…
Hey man found an old comment of yours on Boosted H/F series group, you said you had a bad experience with -10AN in the balance shaft tunnel? what happened? cause I was planning to use that as an extra breather along with stock breather on the corner of the valve cover

Yup that was me! I had a lot of problems with that balancing shaft tunnel dumping oil into my catch can. I did not put a baffle on the inside of the block as I was told this was the benefit of using the balancing shaft tunnel. Turns out that was bad info. My recommendation is definitely use your valve cover as there is far less oil mist and no oil sloshing up at the head. I believe I have a video on how I added bungs and baffles to my valve cover and this cured my issue.
Have you used a pressure tester to see if it will handle the pressure at the radiator caps maximum? I think that would be a good idea. I'd hate to see you in heavy traffic and running 220 or 230 degrees and pop that hose.

I’m In Philadelphia right now. Just did a hot lap and driving through stop and go traffic for an hour and a half and not a drop on the ground so it’s been proven to work. 👌🏻

The hose I seen at the hardware store was atleast 120psi, the larger stuff like hos being 220psi. Now thay doesn't account for heat, but thats substantially higher than the 20psi of my system(i assume this is about average for a coolant system idk 🤷♂️) Surely the heat can't change the psi ratings that drastically right, hopefully lol 😅 ima give this a try soon I think. Looks pretty cool imo

look how much that shit is expanding. no way i'd trust that.
Im going to try this on the 2j screw it

A way to dress this up is using gates radiator hose clamps.
I thought it was acryllic
The vinyl would probably be ok if not mixed with propylene glycol. Even Silicone hoses have issues with coolant. HPS makes silicone hoses and even their website Carrie’s a warning. You shouldn’t put that metal spring inside there either. Now your system is really begging for some electrolysis through your cooling system! Pretty clever though.

I knew the metal spring would be okay as a lot old V8 engines have a metal spring in the front upper radars hose. It’s all cathode no anode!

@@thestateofreal2533 Hey man, saw your distributor swap video. I'm gonna be running hondata s300 v3 p28 ecu (obd1) on my 98 prelude (obd2). I'll be using a conversion harness (obd2a to obd1) so the ecu can work with the obd2 parts, will this be an issue if i then do an obd1 distributor swap like you did?

@@Kaizennx nope it works just the same just the same. I later switched over to an obd1 dizzy as well because my obd2 dizzy was going bad and with obd1 I wouldn’t need the crank position sensor or the external coil. I used the rywire conversion harness for that. I have a video on the conversion for the obd1 dizzy to obd2 prelude harness.

how well does it hold up under long use and heat?

If holds up well under heat over time. Mine is just starting to get hazy again but this is due to the coolant and iron interaction.
