One of the most relaxing yet interesting videos I've watched. Having only just started in recurve archery, where does one learn how to create their / others own bow strings and what equipment please?

Hi Garry. Glad you enjoyed the video. String making can look complex but it's really not that difficult. Just requires a bit of patience and practice. I learned by making cheap Dacron strings for our club beginner bows where, so long as it was safe, it didn't matter too much if it didn't look perfect. It has the advantage of the materials being relatively cheap so you don't feel bad if you end up having to scrap a string. Jig:- Mine is an A&F jig. Built like a tank and reasonably priced too String material:- start with something like BCY B55 (Dacron) Serving:- Again, start with something cheap (but good) like BCY 3D Serving tool:- The Beiter one is awesome... but quite expensive the Cartel one is inexpensive and a good place to start (but you'll want to upgrade to the Beiter one if you get the bug! :-) ). Sounds like I should create a couple of videos specifically on string making... but in the meantime I can recommend this one. It's a bit old now (and I use a slightly different way of starting the laying up), but it's a good general overview. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qY533I-wd6XcgrA.html
