    I’m so glad I watched this i literally just washed for the first time after 6 days and they got super frizzy and kinda loose so I got scared and started crocheting them too be tight again than stumbled upon this video and now I’m so much more understanding the frizz is normal as for the little loose hairs

    Thank you so much. My dreads are just over a 1 month old. You answer every question I needed answered. I wash my hair every 7-10 days. I never really washed my hair a lot in the first place. I have naturally coarse, curly, frizzy hair. So it's about what I washed it to begin with. The Frizz is horrible at this point. I thought man it seems after I wash my hair my dreads are a lot loser and falling out, but this video was point on and helped me so much. Thanks for taking the time do help people like me with their questions.

    I've just started putting small dreads in my hair after dying and washing it last night and I was very curious about how often to wash them. Luckily, I wash my hair maybe once or twice a week, sometimes longer because I have no motivation whatsoever so I should be okay. This video was really helpful so thank you :)

    I just did my first wash 4 days after starting my new short hair (3 inches) backcombed dreads. I used a hair net while getting my hair wet, then remove it to apply/massage a teaspoon of dreads shampoo on my scalp and then, placed back during rinsing. So far soo good, baby dreads still on and the best of all, is that is was able to stay under the water and relax for a while, without worrying too much about my young dreads falling apart. Best feeling ever after the first wash!

I am a little wary but from what I am finding online i should be good. Going to have a cap on while i rinse and shampoo them out as I read that that should help keep them in place. I've been prepping my hair for the last 2 months - I'm able to go 7-8 days between washes (super fine and thin hair) - I also haven't used shampoo or conditioner for over three months. I've been researching and waiting for the best time to do my dreads for over a decade, and it's finally going to happen next weekend! *happy dance* Just wanted to say thanks for all these vids, as they have been entertaining and reinforcing the positive information I have found (ie. not using wax, using baking soda and acv for deep cleans, etc.) online and through other friends that have had dreads. I doubt there is anyone more prepared for this new hair life! Have a great day! :D

    i washed my twist n rip dreads 3 days after putting them in. i used 3 tbs of bicarbonate of soda and rubbed it through, then used normal shampoo (instead of normal washing i kinda scrunched my hands through with shampoo and rinsed well) . i towel dried and used a hairdried to just dry my roots a little. i then used a homemade spritz of essential oils (peppermint, teatree, jasmine and lavender) and spritz it through. the dreads fluffed up a TINY bit. but once fully dryed i used a vegan hair wax to palm roll them and they looked completly fine. i now smell like a hospital but at least my dreads are clean af. xD

    I already only wash my hair once a week bc it is so dry. I feel like my hair is practically begging to be dreadlocks. I have resorted to wearing a really ugly bun partially bc I can't get the knots out fast enough. So I'm gonna try dreads I'm really scared bc so much of my identity is wrapped up in my long hair. Also, I live in an extremely hot climate but i just can't keep on being completely short on style when it comes to my hair.

    I have straight hair and did twist n rip method. My dreads are very loose and flat (2 days old) should they be tight when I start them? I tried fixing them with a crochet hook but it doesn't really work because they're basically just messy/frizzy looking braids. Should I start over and do them tighter? Or will they knot up eventually? I'm so confused as to what they should be like to start with..

  • @ciaracollingbourne6369
    @ciaracollingbourne63697 жыл бұрын

    I made my dreadlocks 4 months ago (twist n rip) and became a little obsessed with crocheting... to the point where most of the hairs have been broken. Nonetheless, they still seem to be holding well. I have been struggling to find the balance between oiliness and dryness, as they tend to sound like straw when I would manually bend them. I have been putting drops of oil on my scalp for a month and a half, previously I was simply spraying them with a distilled water and essential oil mixture. My dreads now have a more natural "swing" to them, although I still find them a bit stiff and potentially dry... I'm scared to wash them and dry them up to the point of their disintegration. The only "wash" I have done was an ACV rinse at the 1 month mark. I don't feel like they are dirty, but I am starting to consider seeing what happens after a wash. Is there a particular concoction that would be gentle to the brittleness of my dreads? Thanks!

  • @LazyDreads

    @LazyDreads

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Ciara Collingbourne I would recommend washing them more regularly than only once in four months - they may stop feeling oily after that time, but they will benefit from being washed and a good quality dreadlock shampoo should contain the right balance of ingredients to keep your hair healthy and strong.

    Damn wish I seen this before I got my done. I washed my hair everyday before. It's true. Causes alot more irritation. My brother didn't wash his everyday and he got less of a tension rash. Mine was showing up as we did it

    +Lazy Dreads what shampoo do you use? I used some castile soap with natural oils the first day after back combing and front dreads are loose. Thanks
