Washing My Dreadlocks
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Washing dreadlocks always seems to be a hot topic for conversation.
It's often thought that you can't wash them or that you have to wash them in a super complicated and contrived way. I've had dreadlocks for over 11 years and in this video I show how I was them, in the shower, with shampoo, like pretty much any other type of hair.
The shampoo is from Dollylocks: amzn.to/2vQeJUV

Can't lie... I absolutely enjoyed that.
I never thought I’d spend 5 minutes watching some guy take a shower yet, here I am. Hahaha! Thanks, bruh. I have this shampoo and I’ve apparently,y been using way too much of it. I have a fraction of the hair you do and I use...way more than that. Not anymore!! 👍🏻

Soaps that don't contain SLS additives don't foam up and since people are often used to foaming soaps they can easily use too much just to try and get it to foam more. Then when you use too much... takes much longer to wash out fully. Not a lot of shampoo is required to cover the scalp since this shampoo is quite thin and oily in consistency.

Lazy Dreads this is true. It does take me forever to rinse all the suds out. I’ll cut way back from now on! What about their bar soaps? Ever tried those? I have a bunch of those and I’m not sure if I should be sudsing up as much or not.

None of our Shampoos contain sulfates, which help create lather in conventional shampoos and soaps, so the Bar Shampoos also do not make as many bubbles as you might be used to :)
My dad walked in on me watching this video and then slowly backed out of my room without a word. I regret nothing.

The title should be “watch me take a shower” to be honest idk why but i like watching people washing themselves.
Ahahaha I'm watching this at my desk thinking I'm slick and forgot there's a mirror behind me 😱
Why did I just watch Lazydreads take shower lol
Naked? Yes. K, subscribed.
I just remembered what it felt like to lather in between sections and I am re sold. Re dreading my hair today 😂
I enjoyed this way more than I think I should have. Thanks. About a month in to my loc journey I've been watching you over a year or maybe two now...

CoxDesigns i have 4c hair but parts of my hair is more of a 4a maybe 3c so I've started using the instant lock method on a few.. that are struggling to stay together...it helps.
Love the shirt man. Have a really similar shirt and absolutely love the band.
ALWAYS a pleasure, Christian!!! I don't use Dollylocks .. I have in the past but money meh ... now I am using Mane & Tail, which is great, or my youngests organic, vegan wonderful smelling shampoo .. or both LOL Good to see you home again ... I recognize that shower .... does that mean I've been a fan a little TOO long???
Hey yay thank u so much for making this/these videos. I've been on my dread journey for about 15 months now and am loving it! You've inspired me and enlightened me so much to be confident enough to do them because I actually feel like I KNOW what I'm doing :)! Soooo I'm at the point now where I want to start putting in extensions in my dreads since I took your advice and waited until they were strong enough to build a foundation for the extensions to be put in on. I'm making my own out of synthetic hair since my dreads are naturally formed and have never been "touched" or molded in any way... None of the dread extensions I saw on Amazon or any of the other links seemed to match the look of my own unique locks :) I was wondering if you had any tips on how to take care of them or if u could make a "human hair vs synthetic hair dread extensions tutorial / Q&A" ? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!!! 💚 Please keep making these videos and live happy ✌️

Oh and btw I started washing my hair like this in sections and I feel like my scalp is a lot cleaner than before when I struggled to get in there. I also incorporated a plastic bottle (like for hair dying) to dilute my shampoo and apply it even easier that way! Genius !!! Thanks again for sharing
I don't think I'm straight anymore. No homo though.

Justin Murray So it’s a choice?
Hello, would you mind telling where you got the soap, not sure where to find good dread soap because you’ve said in the past not to use normal soap, thank you
what would you recommend I do for short baby hairs at the back of my neck? should I just make them into little dreads or just leave them loose and wait for them to dread into the bigger ones naturally?
how often do you wash your mature dreads? My dreads are 8 months old and I wash mine roughly 1-2 times a week max.
I was going to ask on Instagram but this seemed more related. Nice photography though. I've watched a few videos after considering dreads. Your locs look thicker in this video than earlier ones. Do they get larger over time? I've heard they shrink
I just watched another dude take a shower. what did I learn? its hair. and you wash it as such. I subbed.. going for my own lazy lox after shaving my head clean.
Please help! I have a question! I have 1 year and 11 months old freeform dreadlocks, they are medium sized, and since the 1 year ~ 1 year and 2 months mark I've noticed a strange smell whenever they were damp. I only started deep cleaning (Baking Soda + ACV + Lemon) 4 months ago, when I learned about dread rot through your videos. 4 months ago I deep cleaned it twice, once a week, and the unpleasant smell went away, but it creeped back some weeks later due to me not drying properly, not washing, etc. After this, I deep cleaned them four times, once a week, and the unpleasant smell was still there, with little change to its intensity. When they're dry, they don't have any smell. I've heard in one of your videos that you have had dread rot. How long did it take to get rid of it? Do you have any tips on how frequently should I deep clean it? Should I use white vinegar? Also, everytime I take a bath, my dreads get a little damp. Could this be hindering the process? Should I wear a shower cap? Sorry for the big amount of questions, my dreadlocks are finally looking like I always wanted them to look and I'm terrified of the possibility of not managing to handle this dread rot!
Please tell me what shampoo you are useing & how do I get some? I am in Ireland & the level of availability of dreadlock shampoo is like 5000... I currently live in a level 50 town so please help a girl out man!! I know I can buy it online but What am I even looking for? It all gets very confusing & I just end up playing stupid games on facebook! Am currently using a vegan, teatree shampoo from my local health food store but it was funny when I asked the lady working there, if this was good for my dreads, she just said 'I actually have no idea' That was her professional advice :) Seriously!! Love your channel man xx
PS: How hard and gentle should you be in washing your dreads? I have a feeling from this video I'm being too gentle but I've barely hit a year with my dreads and they're still kind of struggling to mature. Should I wash more thoroughly and roughly? Is there a healthy middle ground?
Think his shower routine has changed a little since he removed his dreadlocks
Hey, I brushed half of my locks out to loose the weight and am loving my partial head. I’m dealing with static loose hair after washing and it feels dry. Then I’ll add oils like Argan oil and it literally looks so oily and my hair still sticks out as if a balloon was rubbed on my head .... never had this issue and really is uncomfortable. Thinking about buying dolly locks . I’m open for advice ! I need it ! Thank you
I have a question my dreads were started off by the person doing braid at the root then like back coming the rest some how all ik is am I able to wash them because they were made with back comb I'm so scared they are itchy after but not all the time and I need to know if a shower would make them come out please help @LazyDreads +Lazy Dreads
Now for the after shower routine??
Hi, I'm sure you have gone over this a million times but my dreads are a couple of months old. I want to wash them as I have an itchy scalp but I'm scared. Dreadrot sounds like things nightmare are made of and I wouldn't want to lose my beautiful hair. Please can you put my mind at rest..also loving the video of you in the shower. ;) X
I’ve watched many of your videos and I know you give great advice for dreadlocks and the videos are very comprehensive. I do need some help though. I started my dreads at about 4-5 inches with the back comb method, and have had them for a month. I understand the looseness and the loose hair, but should a few inches be coming out at the tips of some? I have about 1 inch sections some smaller and 6 larger ones in the front and those don’t have the same loose tips. I had dreads about a year ago and they were much longer and stronger but I’ve never had this problem. I wash them every 3-6 days and use sea salt spray quite a bit. I don’t crochet I don’t palm roll like I used to but just washing them is making the ends come loose. I’ve tried tip rubbing and I think they’re too young. I have the sides and back cut so it’s just the top but I have 43 dreads and quite thick decently curly hair like us quarter dollar sized curls. The ends keep locking just a little between washes and then wash out but some get shorter and shorter

I mean, drying is drying. I updated the washing video because the previous one is full of me awkwardly trying to talk over the running water and then people complaining that I'm wasting water while talking over it. That video also has me show a shampoo that I don't think you can buy anymore which isn't super helpful.

What do you think about using Dr. Bronner's soap for dreadlocks?
@mindycat1972

Depends on your water. Dr. Bronners doesn't work in hard water, it leaves behind a white curd. In soft water my understanding is to dilute it.
Do you know how to cure stinky scalp because I’ve always thought my dreads were the one that smelt like mildew but it was actually my scalp

I wash mine every 2 weeks unless i get a lot of dirt or dust from work, then I am soaking my head in a basin of baking soda for half hour or so & then washing & man, it feels sooo clean after that soak! I do that once a month so far, or three times in 4 months so what ever that adds up to! I just go with the flow of life & love my dreads so much
Why am I so into this? Lol.
i'll hold the camera for you next time ;)
aesthetic dreads ....... I don't know what's stopping me from getting em .......
That's a job isn't it lol,great video thanks..✌💙
That was hott
I can't use the shampoo like that.. If I don't get all of my scalp I have places on my head where its oily, dry, and normal.. So I use half pumps and make sure my whole scalp is soapy and then I just let the soap go over the rest of my dreads..

Suman Bbxr Lazy Dreads answered that in an earlier video and he said no, because as he likens the dreads on his head, they’re too tedious to add *new* dreads to his beard, also? He said other’s look good but because of high maintenance he’ll stick to his 11 year old easy care dreads (I paraphrased)?
