Yep, this worked. Ordered the door lock from LG, got it the next day, and fixed it myself within 10 minutes. Got a hug from the wife and a promise for nookie later. Today was a good day.

Just made this repair on my own washer after watching this video. The only thing I did differently was purchase the tool to open the spring. Made it so easy to get in off/on. The whole repair took me maybe 10-15 minutes and cost around $30 for the part and tool. So much better than calling an appliance repair person. Thank you!

Thank you for the video - I just replaced the door lock assembly and it's now working properly (as best I can tell). I would never have even attempted it without your video. Two comments: When taking out the door lock assembly itself, I found it easier to FIRST unscrew the assembly and THEN detach the electrical harness. The harness is in there very snug and I wasn't able to detach it when I proceeded in the reverse order. Second, I really had trouble re-installing the door booth clamp. You've got to stretch that spring with all your might in order to get it seated. On my first several tries I'd get it almost complete and then the rubber gasket would start to pull out from the inner fringe.

Had an issue with my (expired warranty) LG washer a few years ago; charged $350 service call/repair and took about 3 weeks for the process of initial coming out, ordering of part and return to replace part… So when my door lock mechanism started acting up on Friday 7/5/19 I found this video, looked up and ordered part ($81.19 GRP) and Spring Expansion Tool ($27.99 Amazon), received the part and tool on Monday 7/8/19 and took about 15 minutes to repaired my washer at a total cost of $109.18.Funny how replacing a single part make your washer seem to run like a new machine… THANK YOU!

@@partselect Hi, the repair that cost me $350 was for replacing the LG WM3875HVCA PBC Assembly (Brain). Is that something you think I could handle like I did with the door lock mechanism or should I seek a professional if that problem reoccurs in the future? Please let me know if you have a video for that repair.

Before you replace the switch, use a flat screwdriver to pry your closed door slightly to the right toward the latch. This advice is based on detailed understanding of the switch. The switch has 4 wires - two for the solenoid and two to sense door shut. Shutting the door presses a white thing back and a black.piece to the right. Sliding the black piece to the right lets little black button in the switch extend out, both locking the latch and allowing a relay to close. The solenoid in the switch drives a 3 state mechanical mechanism, in one state the black button can extend out if the door is closed and the relay bus no longer blocked. The issue with the switch in general is getting your latch to push the black slide far enough to allow that other black square button to extend out of its hole to latch the door and get out of the relays way. The switched mostly are not bad, it is a mechanical issue. Pry your door a bit toward the latch to fix the mechanical issue.

And of course changing the switch itself is very easy - two screws and the rubber ring wire with spring to get at the switch with 4 wire connector. But keep your old switch. Probably nothing wrong with it even if it fixed the problem. The more likely issue is mechanical - pry door slightly toward latch with flat screwdriver wedged in hinge side before buying switch. Especially if you have played voodoo of pushing door various ways and found voodoo worked now and then. Then - try my may

Hey there - my washer started leaking, and it looks like there is a chunk that's been torn out of the edge of the gasket/door boot. I'm assuming that has to be the leak in the door? Ordered a new one and this video is going to help me install the new one. Thank you.

Hi Steve, I found your video and we ordered the part, my husband changed it. However, I keep getting the de2 error code. We tried another part and changed it, and it's still displaying de2 error. I slam the door and call it some bad words for about 20 minutes and it finally locks. After that cycle runs, I can consistently run the washer. The next day, it's back to doing the exact thing. What else can it be?

The bottom piece thats in the door where the screws go in for the door strike is stripped. Any idea on how to fix that? Any clue on why that happened? On my LG (DLGX3571W) the door strike doesn't line up exactly with the latch...its down a bit and goes in kind a up into the latch. Is that the way it suppose to be?

I have an odd problem not addressed in any video for LG washer is making noise. The front Tabatha Emily seems to have about eight ball bearings rolling around between the front lip of the steel basket in the plastic rim. It might make salacious noises but no word on any parts diagram do I see these ball bearings in that part of the unit and definitely not when you took it apart.WM2701HV It seems as ball bearing should not be there because I don’t see them on any parts diagram. I did check the back of the unit and the bearings in the back are very tight and the basket does not wobble at all. Do you have any ideas?

Maybe someone had some metal bearings in their pocket and washed them? There shouldn't be any bearings there, only on the back middle like you described. I was an appliance tech back in 2005, but I never worked on these machines so I can't say for sure.
