This is an EXCELLENT, very helpful video. I bought the door lock/switch part on Amazon Prime...AND I also bought the "special tool" to release the spring retainer on Amazon Prime too...about $20.00 for the tool and worth every penny of it! Life's too short to do it the hard way. The tool makes it SO much easier! Thank you for posting this video!

Thanks, great video. I recommend everybody get the "special tool" for removing the spring retainer. The one I used has part number 383EER4001A.

Is there any way to test the door switch on this model with a multimeter or is this more complicated than a continuity switch?

Replaced the switch but still getting the de error. Anything else it could be?

great video but having a heck of a time putting on the spring clamp. Mine is a bit old with a little rust and is a B to stretch. Any suggestions?

I can’t put the metal ring around it back on, will it be ok? It’s too hard, I’ve tried putting on it for the past 4 hours.

I need to change the strike on outside door I my washer is a kenmore and you have to take the inner ring out ( the glass comes out) but the strike is plastic on the outside but inside it has a spring . very hard to take off I talked parts pros they are sending a part but it doesn't loo like mine what's wrong with kenmore ? others are a lot easier just 2screws outside!! could not find videos anywhere HELP

It is possible that the manufacturer has done a design change to the part and it isn't going to look like the one you are going to currently have in your machine. What is the model number of your machine and we can look and see if we can find a video for you.

hello iam facing some prob , i have LG FR4655NC1Z 16 KG washing machine , i ordered same part as you mentioned , and it is exactly matching but cant close the door bcz the hole is a bit smaller kindly help me out

This was a very informative video, however, how can you replace the lock if the lock will not allow the door to open in the first place? Thanks for a reply.

First unplug the washer, then take the top off the washer and look at the switch. In the middle of the switch by the spring there is a tab that you can push towards the center of the washer. You may have to use a small screwdriver. This should release it so the door will open.

It can be opened from the service menu....by pushing two buttons on the washer, plus push the power botton, togather(all the menu lights will turn on once your in).....Once your in, you will hear the door click, pull on the door while your hear it clicking, it will open up easily....I did it many times.

I have LE code. Door switch has been malfunctioning for some time, extra push to get it to lock. Would this stop the drum from turning. Water is filling, just won't turn.

If the door switch is known to be faulty, then replacing that part is probably your best bet.

Replaced the switch as per video still getting de error message. Any suggestions?

+mrartistbill Did you check the door strike on the door to make sure it is not damaged and is engaging in the door switch? Please post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.

I have replaced 5 of these, checked all wiring and even secured it and wrapped it in electrical tape. What do I check for on the actual door if it causing this switch to fail 5 times? What else could it be?
