Was It A Mistake Trading For This Vice Grip Camaro?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Derek Bieri of @vicegripgarage traded me this 74 Camaro for some other stuff ( that actually ran! :) ) You know I have a huge weakness for 2nd Gen Camaros like ZedSled, and Mr Freeze and the abandoned crappy ones always seem to find me... www.paintucation.com/ has all kinds of tutorials on restoration, but I don't know if i can bring this one back. This car is special, its a 74 with the good back glass, just like the 70-73's so the potential is there if the structure is sound.... Watch and see if it's worth saving. ( spoiler alert... they're ALL worth saving and this one is gonna get saved again! the 4th time by my account...) maybe It’ll end up a restored 74 ( not) maybe it’ll be another split-bumper LS powered clone…. Maybe a turbo 6 cylinder… you’ll have to watch and see. Please subscribe!

My friend had a 74. That was read the shifter in that is cool if you pull it down to low one or a first gear in the automatic when you're ready to shift instead of tapping it forward. Bump it to the right, just go ahead and slap it to the right. You'll kick up in the second slap it till the right again and it'll Camaro. Did that and I'm pretty sure it was his 74. They could have been the seventy six but i'm pretty sure it was a seventy four and maybe all of them do it so check that out

There are many more but these ppl helped me evolve and push further and further, always learning and bitting off more than I could chew and succeeding anyway.
Makes me happy that Derek has been with both Stacey and Kevin this week. This is awesome that my whole motor vehicle media consumption is coming together.

Missed you for a while glad I found this channel. That is awesome you are making that a split bumper camero. 74 is a ugly year looking forward to your next video. I always learn a lot from you.
I remember when that car was new. I was 14 at the time. A neighbor bought a new gold color Type LT. I've had two second gen Camaros. a '79 Berlinetta and an '80 Z28. That was back in the mid-late '80s. They were in near new condition. AZ cars, zero rust. I remember being upset over a few scratches in the paint. I can only imagine what those cars would be worth today in that condition.
I always wondered what happen to this Camaro. I've been a huge F-Body guy my whole life. I'm happy to see someone gave the Camaro love and attention. Especially the roof lol
You, are a machine man quite impressed that you pushed that in
"Shut up!" I was feeling for you, man. I was always the guy called on to push around someone else's vehicle...Ha!
When you looked at the camera after struggling to push the car and said "shut up", I laughed out loud and had to hit the subscribe button. I've been there myself many times. I usually end up having to use either my lawn mower or my pick up to help move something around the yard.
“Shut up”. I actually laughed out loud at that. I was feeling your pain. Glad you are here Kevin, it’s a great platform fit for you! Been a fan since your first day on another network
I'm glad Kevin is trying to save this one👍💯
Totally the right move to transform this '74 donor into a '70 RS!
Glad to hear you’re doing a 70’ front end and taillights that’s the best Camaro ever in my opinion
Have to admit when you started cutting that roof skin off, I expected the worst. So happy this car will be living a new life now restyled in your competent hands, Kevin 🙂Will be looking forward to future episodes.

That might have been the end of the project..... I'm glad it was so clean underneath. Not what I expected.
The 1970-1/2 split bumper Camaro is my favorite of all time. I was reliving the struggle and pain as I watched you push that car into the garage. Been there, done that! Feel the muscles burn! If your cardio is like mine, I bet those lungs hurt too! I absolutely love your floor jack. Super low profile and a real retro look. So cool! You have a very relatable personality Kevin. Good sense of timing when to be funny. I did notice the "Here's looking at you Derek" grille damage humor! I discovered you through Derek's channel, but now I'm here for the long haul. Your videos are entertaining, but more important to me, educational. I appreciate that. You keep making them Kevin, and I'll keep watching them !! All the best from Massachusetts! ☮️ on 🌎

This is such a cool project. I had a 76 back in high school. Put way too much money and time into it. Love the idea of converting this to a 70-73 style. Will be watching for sure. Kevin is a top notch educator
The split bumper RS front end is the Sexiest front end ever. Fantastic choice.
Dam, you read my mind about creating a split bumper car!!! I would paint it like the Baldwin Motion cars were, but that’s just me. I always loved that paint scheme with the L88 hood.
I’m gonna love this build, that’s exactly what that car needs! A new set of front teeth!!!!! The Split bumper 70 Camaro is a way more attractive car.

You took the thought right out of my mind. I'd make a 70 split bumper Camero as well cause it's a good idea and a good start for building the car that you would rather have...
What really love about watching this channel is that he does work like the average guy with the tools most of us have in our garages

Man this was by far my favorite episode. It was funny, it showed educational information for people that may be thinking of buying a project or wondering how deep a project may go, it showed how to disassemble a 2nd gen Camaro, and most importantly it's another Old Car Saved. Great Job!
I grew up around a 73 z28. Love those cars. My dad bought it new in 73 and still has it to this day. It's mint. I'm 40 and still can't wait to drive it lol.
I had a 74 as a teen, never got to drive it on the road because of my own poor decisions, one of my favorite cars.
Kevin I’ve seen you for the first time teaching your tricks to Derek, I’m very happy to have found your channel on your channel
I would love to see this entire project
LOVE those Camaros. Had a 1976 back in the day. Would love to have another one. Will be watching. Thanks Kevin.
One thing is for sure, Kevin does not get the credit that He deserves. I've been watching him since Power block TV days as a young teen. I learned how to rebuild motors do body work and " everything" else !!!! Super stoked about this build, looking forward for the next videos on this build. HOOTS
I love that you’re changing it to a 70 RS! Can’t wait to see more!
It actually brings me a bit of peace knowing that the 74 is gonna live on! Keep it up Kevin... Got a subscriber for sure!

After watching your very relatable struggle to move the Camaro into the shop I was hooked for the rest of the video. I think I remember Derik opened that car on a warm sunny TN day and spent several minutes trying to relate the odiferous qualities to us who were not there to partake.
It was great seeing Kevin and Derrick working on that old Ford truck together!
This episode took me right back to those Saturday mornings or Sunday mornings when you were on Network TV!! Love it!

70 rs is cool but the 74 Z/28 was an amazing car with the bold Z/28 graphics!
Good to see Kevin doing What he's good at, been watching him forever and a day probably 20 plus years love is work and explanations
My first car was a 74 Type LT painted flat black. Loved that thing. It too had a vinyl top that had been removed. Roof was good trunk pan/quarter panels/rear frame rails were not.
I was really, really hoping you go the split bumper direction with this. Love love love it...
Great job Kevin . You captured the essence of many a guy working on his non running projects without help to push it uphill. Been there done that . Between You and Vicegrip garage as well as a few others I can still live out my dreams
Honestly Kevin, I've always loved your work on the various shows you worked on professionally, but I prefer this more raw, down to earth content. Thanks for your efforts, this was a great show!

Loved the split bumper Camaros when they came out and I still do 50+ years later. Great plan!
BAM, There we have it!
I really like seeing how you assess the vehicle as you remove the parts. That is helpful to the home hobbyist vs typical KZread will it run vids.
Definitely going to be a killer project! The 2nd gen #Camaro is a staple now in the restoration world and for great reason. They absolutely are a perfect platform for either restoration or modifications. Cant wait to see this one unfold.

LOVE Camaros!! Second gen my favorite. My only Camaro, '76 base model with a 305/auto upgrade and nothing else. Radio delete, the engine was the only music I needed! Lol. Oh yeah, orange with black interior made it look sportier than it actually was. All for $1,700 Canadian in the early '90s. Really enjoyed driving the car for almost 6 years as is(was)! ✌🇨🇦
I'm excited to see this build i love second gen Camaros , my first car was a red 1971 SS 350 Camaro that i bought in 1976 .
I did learn something… I never knew that about unibody cars and rust. I had, for a minute, a 65 Thunderbird. The floors were gone so my dad, being helpful, put two Do Not Enter signs in place! Great video
That’s awesome to see it saved,I have my late fathers 72. When Derek moved close to me I begged him to help just get it going, use it for a video, but no luck yet
I’m so glad you’re gonna put a different front clip on there
If you can make something cool out of that, you are a master restorer.
Oh man I really want to see a full series rebuild of this, nice work got my hands itching!! 💪
I love it! That's the beauty of being a fabricator and painter. You build it just the way YOU want it. Kudos !! Your video's are good for the enthusiast and the guys learning how to do this kind of stuff the right way !!
I feel the same way about 2nd gen Firebirds that you do about 2nd gen Camaros, so I can relate to a lot of this. I can almost smell the mouse pee as you cleaned those nests out lol. There were a ton of nests in the last Firebird I owned. I miss those cars! I'm glad to see you saving this one.
Glad that VGG showed your work on the give away truck! This is a project to follow I like your style I am subbed looking forward to more Hi from Australia 😊
Im going through classic industries for my parts. Doing all the work myself and I never did any of it before should be fun
I like the mix and match Centerline wheels ! It seems like in the 70's and 80's people were competing to see who could put the cheesiest wheels on their car. The guy who owned this car may have won first place in that contest.
No matter what it's being saved is how I look at it. In the future if someone wants to take it back to stock they can. But this will keep it living for many more years to come. Better than letting it continue to rust away or go into a crusher.
Love this project and the conversion from 74 to 70 is awesome. The 74 isn't a Z/28 so you're not ruining a classic Z 👍🏻 saw Stacy David doing a similar project but his Camaro didn't have the correct rear glass like yours so I'm looking forward following this project. Side note I really missed watching all the power block stuff and I was really excited when I found your channel 👍🏻
I really like how the headlight panel kept reinstalling it's self and he removed it 3 times LOLOL
Moving the car into the shop was painful to watch. Looking forward to seeing what it going to look like.

Thank you Kevin for pushing that car with your legs! I was taught that way back in the early 90’s when I was driving a tow truck. It’s the most direct route from the ground to the car, doesn’t involve your joints for your hands to your feet, and is way better for your back😂👍🏻💪🏻

Here we go again Kevin, I love the second Gen Camaro’s I’ve had 3 of them my last one being an 81 4 speed car that sat for 30 years in a garage until I got it and got it in show quality condition before selling it for a new ZL1.
My cousin had a yellow '74 with a black vinyl top. Her neighbor had a nice red '72 Firebird Esprit. I love the front ends on the '70-'73 Firebirds / Trans Ams.
