Very nice. We've got an old 71 Plymouth roadrunner thats been sitting in a barn on our property since the 80s. Inheritance from grandfather. I'll eventually get around to doing the same thing. We honestly have no idea why it would put away, though.

This video stressed me out! I've been there: nothing works, stores are closed, holiday weekend, running out of time. I don't have half Derek's skill, so so much respect to him for showing it like it really is!
If a movie is 2.5 hours long there's a good chance I won't bother with it yet I'll clear my schedule and/or postpone the night's plans as soon as I see there's a 2.5 hour rescue with Derek. Thanks for dragging a guy out for another awesome rescue.

Derek! Please take these words of wisdom to heart from a 40 + year mechanic. PLEASE don't hammer on old battery posts. They out-gas and the acid fumes are extremely combustible. When I was about 19 I had a '70 Nova SS 427 4 Speed and one morning I was late for work. (I was framing houses at the time ) I turned the key to start the engine and all I got was Click, Click, Click, so I reached in the trunk of the Nova and grabbed my 22 oz framing hammer to tap on the battery terminals to tighten them up. First whack and the old battery exploded in my face. I slowly tried to find my way to the sink in my moms laundry room with my eyes closed and proceed to fill the sink and stick my head in the water to flush my eyes out. I had pieces of plastic shrapnel from the exploded battery stuck in my face, forehead, neck, chest etc. I'm fortunate to still have both eyes. Needless to say I've never used a metal object to try and tighten the battery posts on an older (or new battery). I do hope some readers learn something from my incident with battery fumes and a steel hammer. Cheers

What a small world, my wife is 75 and she and I are watching this as she reminds me of her 1965 Barracuda she had in high school. You are right memories that we have keep us young.
My late grandpa had this same body style of Barracuda, but white with the blue interior, and he had swapped the motor out for a v type, can't remember if it was a 6 or 8 cylinder. It got parked up somewhere in the mid-late 2000s, and it breaks my heart to know it's still sitting there uncared for. I'm only about an hour in but this has been nice to watch, even if it's a different car, it feels like the same spirit is living on. Thank you Derek!

My dad has been gone since '89 and I think about him almost daily. I wish I had told him "Thank you!" for everything he taught me. I don't think he was ever prouder than when I won a bet that I could pull the engine and tranny out of my '70 Challenger in less than 45 minutes by myself. He instilled in me the two things that have kept me sane and relatively happy in my 61 years: motorcycles and Frisbee. I still do both almost daily. Dad would have loved VGG.
Derek, I turned 50 last wednesday. Things are breaking down man. We're old. Take care. When you mentioned the connection between this thing and a valiant of a similar vintage, I remembered when my father told me that he drove a 63 or 64 valiant in the early 70s. It was a very good car in his opinion. You see, he's gone now, and this video brought that back. I owe you one dude.
This was a tough watch, I can definitely see you're exhausted. It sucks even more when things don't want to work in your favor. Thank you Derek for stick-to-it attitude!. Your work ethic is strong and admirable , but brother..Get some rest soon. It helps prevent burnout and frustration. Take care of yourself please!. Blessings my brother
My first car was a '65 cuda with the 225 slant six, but with the 4 speed & a Hurst shifter. My 3 brothers and I all learned to drive on it. I kept the car for 35 years. It is now in a collectors museum in CA. Wish I could post a picture....

I severely damaged my left knee and ACL about 10 years ago and it happened at some turbulent times so I didn't acknowledge it and kept working and pushing it and had a bad, bad limp for almost 6 months and now I have to be really careful not to kneel and get the knee cold and wet. It also lead to me overloading the other good knee to make it also bad and prone to act up...

Something you can do for situations like this, the poop infestation, is clean up what you can with a vacuum then soak all the carpet and interior with Listerine mouthwash, let it marinate for a while and vacuum the rugs again. Long story short a fellers parents had a similar problem with cat poop in a farmhouse they bought, trash bags full of the stuff. Soaked it in listerine and you couldnt even tell off smell alone! Best of luck, long time watcher first time commenter! -Parker

If you go back for that old Ford truck. It would bring joy to my heart to watch you bring an old Y-Block Ford back to life. Thank you for these videos.
We all get older.. sometimes we gotta shift into another gear. You are one of the earliest, "Will it run and drive?" Sites, you and Mustie1 start a whole genre. Thanks for that.

There are will it run sites that are 15 years old. VGG was not the first. Cold War Motors was doing will it run videos 14 years ago.
I love the story of this car. Appreciate the work put into sharing this.
I know nothing about cars but I could watch this man revive a piece of piece of history all day. He’s a true master mechanic and detective all in one!
I'm so happy. Last weekend l spent 3 hours with a guy while he revived that 81 lmperial. Now, over 2 hours of this Barracuda! I love this guy!!
I'm sure none of us have any doubt that you work 7 days a week. I wish I had that kind of energy! But I'm an old feller. That being said, you owe yourself a nice vacation, Derek. Take a couple weeks, take the fam to Hawaii or something and enjoy the fruits of your labors. It would probably do some good for your injured knee, too. We will all still be here.
This episode was literally the hardest, most stomach turning one I've ever watched. But like any train wreck, I just couldn't look away. I'm glad you were able to get it back on the highway, and I can't wait to see what comes next. Keep it up, we love ya!
Derek, since I first watched your video's and saw a very shy , quiet and unassuming guy trying to establish himself, I've never missed a show end love the comedic genius you have become, coupled with the mechanical nous you provide. I love yr programmes and wish you all the success you wish for you and your family.. Thankyou. Mr Brit...UK.
I was running around doing stuff at the house ...I stop...to have a drink and I check my videos and yesssssssssss you show up with this one...and I just got done watching Tony work on his 55 Chevy...so let's see whatcha got here......first off ya can't go wrong with an old Barracuda.....an old Mopar like this is just the thing I needed to cheer up my day!

The drive home is the best part but you can't expect it every time. Fun to watch getting it back to life.
Love this episode. I bought a 1965 "CUDA" brand new. Mine was red with black interior, 273 , auto transmission. Still wish still had it. Lots of memories .😢
Amazing work, letting someone relive a memory of a loved one is priceless. You are a good man. I love the videos. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
You know I just realized why I like your videos so much. You struggle and do you best and you got ISSUE after ISSUE but you persevere and keep positive and just JOKE about it and keep the brainicle working and IMPROVE and SOLVE stuff and get VICTORY here and VICTORY there and it really lifts my spirit!!!!
Life has blessed me with 3 mopar episodes in the row. Thanks VGG!!!!

I sure am proud to hear it idle so nicely. good Job as always.
The energy in this one, i like how u keep it together! 🎉
I've been watching since the Minnesota days, and you still have one of my favorite channels. I moved to Tennessee too, late last year. I tell people I'm an "escaped Yankee." It's amazing to me that you make longer videos than Hollywood does, and it's far better content. You're the only other guy I've heard say "the right side of the grass." It made me grin. I wish you continued success, you're a good feller, and a great family man. All the best to you and your family.

I don't think MN is "yankee" though--it's the midwest! Yankees are northeast.

A: I didn't call Derek a "Yankee." Although Merriam-Webster's second definition of "Yankee" is: "a native or inhabitant of the northern U.S." 2: I'm not from Minnesota, although it's not unreasonable for you to infer such.

I have a 68' barracuda, and I have been waiting on you to make a video on one of these beauties! Thanks for inspiring me to continue working on it!
I always like watch you Derek revive these vehicles, I even stopped by that truck stop in New mexico that had those classic cars, you stopped there before, but now the cars are gone, new owners at store. Great videos.
One of the thing I love about VGG is that he works on anything. I've owned a little of everything myself, and like seeing that VGG does Interesting vehicles. Thank you Derek
Hey Derek, it's okay to take a break... we'll still be here when you return... Wishing you the best.

Yup a fella can take some time to sit in a hot tub and put his feet 👣 up.
It is crazy to say but I like to see the struggle. It makes me feel better about my struggles. I have been trying to get a 65 Mustang started for the last month since it last ran in 87 and man ol' man has it been a struggle. All my confidence to get this mustang running has come from Derek trying to get these old cars going. I love the videos.
Hope you get to fix this Barrapoopa up when you finish with the 35 Ford and power tour and RWR and retrievals, etc., etc......love the content and how blessed we are to ride along with you and your wonderful family and car wrenching friends. Please find some time to rest and relax a little - it's a marathon, not a sprint, and we need you around for many years to come 😊
It´s 12:40 AM right here in Germany, pretty late for a two and a half Hour Episode. Perfect!
I'm really hoping we'll see a part 2 on this "Barapoopa" some day.
Typically don’t comment on videos but you 100% deserve the recognition! Me and my dad rebuilt/restored a 66 barracuda my favorite feature is that back glass! You got my subscription and support!!

I bought a '66 Barracuda in 1975 for $500 to drive on my job. It was a base model with the 225 slant six and three on the tree. Instead of a tach, it had a thrift gauge that measured miles per gallon. It was economical and fun to drive, but that glassback fastback really cooked on hot summer days. After two years, I sold it for $500, and financed a new Datsun King Cab pickup with a 5 speed and great cold AC. The job's mileage reimbursement paid for the Barracuda, and all the Datsun payments. BTW, I noticed the speedometer needle jumping around. That means it needs to be oiled at the head before the mechanism seizes or the cable snaps.
Great video Derek! Enjoyed seeing the old Mopar come to life. A classic car such as this deserves a second life and you proved it!
Always check the glove box for a new ballast resistor. It's an unwritten Mopar rule...Yeah that's a tough job on a holiday weekend in Florida of all places.
