Hey Shane. I get goosebumps every time by this song. The instrument Einar plays here are a "Moraharpa" one of the oldest versions of harps in scandinavia. For me Wardruna (Ward-runa) is much like Heilung is a kind of music that speaks to my spirit for lack of better words. Call it magic or such but i think you either feel it or you dont. Some people dont have that connection. I get both focused and relaxed by this kind of music. Folk metal aint heavy metal so its not always an easy step for some people to like both genres. I do however. I often mix Manowar for example with folkmetal on my lists :). The lyrics of this song is basically about finding and following a spirit animal in this case White raven and sore on the winds. Its a Sami inspired song. Samis are indigenous people of Scandinavia who existed there before the germanic tribes settled there and became the dominant power. Samis had a shamanistic religion and although its probably not practised as much today they still have it inbedded in their culture. There still exist "wise women" :).

Late to the party, but I was lucky enough to see these chaps on their last tour and wow.. just wow. One word to describe the show was 'mesmerizing'. A must see if ever given the chance. Great reaction by the way, new to the channel. Gotta say, dig the energy. Fun fun fun, in the sun sun sun.

Wardruna is so great. Raido is my favorite video Lyfjaberg Voluspa Don’t forget the epic song Helvegen by Wardruna + Aurora. Look for the live indoors version. Have a look at Heilung. Look for songs from the LIFA live at Castlefest concert: In Maidjan Krigsgaldir Alfadhirhaiti Othan Hamrer hippyer

Wardruna has usually subs in english in most of their official videos - just turn them on the second time. The first time seeing/listening should always be reserved to just FEEL this band.

Totally agree. You either feel and know the music in you or its not for you basically. Its like way back in school were u either excelled in history and laguage or math :). Too hard to explain

Wardruna is animalistic, it’s just brings me to tears sometimes. It’s our roots, in music. Tribal. Guttural. And what a voice…🖤

Primal, certainly, but I don’t know if I’d quite describe Wardruna as animalistic. Definitely check out Tanya Tagaq, especially the song Uja, if you want animalistic😍

Kvitravn is not Einars middle name but his alias when he was the drummer for Gorgoroth. a Norwegian Black Metal Band, Black Metal musicians usually go by nicknames and aliases, rarely their real names.

I didn't know he was in Gorgoroth! One of the singers (can't remember which) is damn near insane. He captured a man trespassing on his land. Kept the guy tied up for a week or so. He would drain some of the guys blood and drink it in front of him. Not 100% sure the story is real, I heard it from a documentary about him. His land is beautiful

Thanks to Peo for expanding our horizons with something different. Not something I'd listen to all the time, maybe in the right introspective mood... but interesting to have learned about it. I know I sound like I'm on loop (or for us old timers who remember vinyl, a broken record), but one reason why I love following this community- the diversity and things we learn from each other. Tell you what it brought to mind..."Cry Little Sister...though shall not fall...." anyone? anyone?

One of my yoga instructors would play stuff like this during practice sometimes....maybe some of it was by this group, I don't know. I just felt like I should have been going into tree pose or half moon pose while watching this. The imagery I thought was cool but it kinda sorta creeped me out at the same time....I kept thinking of clips on Paranormal: Caught On Camera of Bigfoot and Slender Man sightings....
