Warcraft's Lore Is Impressively Shallow And I Am Begging You To Do Better Than One Hat Fits All

Ойындар

Not that I'm mad or anything when people constantly dig their heels in and praise bafflingly shallow worldbuilding as something sacred to uphold against any development that threatens to make the lore just a tiny bit more nuanced than it currently is.
World of Warcraft desperately needs narrative depth.
Also yes, this is a clip from a future video about gnome and goblin druids.

Elder Scrolls really does kick Warcraft’s teeth in on lore tbh. Just in terms of fleshing out the cultures of Azeroth even, i hate that they constantly introduce some new gimmick race and never characterise them in any other way again. At least the comics tried their hands at politics

God I hate how they made greediness the one goblin characteristics, not only because they very much weren't that before wow but also because somehow it has to influence every single aspect of their culture, from bedtime stories (their boogyman is a ghost that makes them not greedy) to religion (their shamans negotiate with the elements like used cars sellers and their priests are those evangelists who tell people they'll go to heaven if they help them but a new private jet)

Thankfully that seems to be being pulled back a bit, seeing as Gazlowe makes sure his workers are well compensated and puts their needs first.

Travels Through Azeroth & Outland is a fanfic I am obsessed with for many reasons, but one thing I love is that the main trait of goblins isn’t greed, but actually optimism- it’s why they’re always starting crazy ventures, why they’re always building new contraptions, and why places like Booty Bay are so welcoming. Sure, their optimism in their ability to make profit out of anything can be seen as greed, but it’s admirable how even when they fail at one scheme they’re always ready to give a new idea a go when they’re back on their feet!

I can't wait for this episode, as a goblin main myself it was starting to feel like you didn't like us seeing how you got rid of Area 52 and your dislike of modern Azshara.

I can't really enjoy them for the same reason I didn't enjoy The Outer Worlds as much as I wanted to, the dystopian capitalism of it all is extremely depressing and grating, I just can't find it funny even when its "exaggerated for satire."

@@khanlusa That's fair, it's a valid reason as any other. I just hope you won't forget about us- I mean, them entirely and think of some sort of alternatives to their culture.

I look forward to the upcoming video. Despite despising gnomes I have argued in their favor for druids as a possibility regardless of their current one note trope of existence.

Gotta love WoW's world building when it comes to races like Dracthyr and their visage something that's supposed to be a very personal and important choice but not for Dracthyr they're forced to have a visage of an Elf a race that didn't exist till like 5000 years after they were put into stasis cause unknown reasons that'll never be answered.

I do agree that the story is very wierd and sometimes does not make any meaning at all. But then again they have to tell a story and have 2 years to do it and 3 or 4 segments to devide it into with a start - mid - ending - continuation/ next threat.

On one hand you're absolutely right. On the other hand I don't want Orc paladins to be a thing.

Not even if they work like Zandalari prelates or Tauren sunwalkers, both groups they have close access to and could learn from, channelling the powers Goldrinn or Anshe?
