Geneva convention states it is against the rules of war to shoot paratroopers with flak guns or aircraft weapons. Thats when you say "Oh... I wasn't shooting them i was shooting the planes behind them; they shouldn't have body blocked them."

@@starlightdragon2665 To my understanding though the initial paradrops on Market Garden went smoothly with little to no resistance. The Germans just had such a solid defense on the cities and that's where it mattered in the end.

Fun fact: Pilots in a parachute is a war crime. Paratroopers however are fair game, they are still considered active combatants while falling from the sky.

I remember that in an older game "IL-2 Sturmovik", that Gaijin even made a console spin-off of, it was actually possible to shoot down escaping pilots. While my dad tried to teach me more about planes, WWII and generally how to play the game, I instead always created a custom mission, spawned some German bombers, shot them down and just eliminated parachuting crews.

I didn't get how killing enemy troops during war is a crime. It's not iike they can do anything about it when we are during a world war. Now I'm 21 and understand the Geneva Convention, but well, cruel life shows that I kinda had a point back then :/

@@laeggroll777 it's a warcrime to shoot upon a pilot who left his airplane and has therefore surrendered the air battle. It is totally legitimate to shoot at a paratrooper who has the visible intention of landing on the ground and joining the ground battle there. One of both has surrendered, the other is an active combatant.

Rules of war: Do not kill non conbatants. That means those who, for whatever reason are not capablo to fight or choose not to do it. Do not cause unnecesary damage (either psicologically or fisically), kill "as clean and fast as posible". That one is why NBQ weapons, most anti personel landmines and torture are forbidden. I find them pretty clear, maybe not easy to completely follow during combat, but clear enough

But you get hit with an RPG, it's not exactly any better than a land mine. Enemy may torture us regardless of the rules. And in war, collateral damage is inevitable no matter the precautions we take. It's not something we can choose. Suffering is inevitable because not every hit troop receives a fatal wound. Then there's the psychological aspect. Everyone comes home a little screwed up after war even if they weren't wounded. And the aftermath of depression and PTSD is almost worse than the war.

@@fireantfury2539 sure you can not avoid collateral damage, but you can choose to drop a nuke, a 5000kg or a 50kg bombs to reduce it, and landmines are not forbidden because they explode, but because they doesen't care who steps on it (combatant or not) but you choose who you fire te rpg at. Do not mistake the act with the intention, killing by accident is not a war crime or does brake the rules of war, but a civilian genocide wit clorine or mutilation of part of the population it is a war crime

according to the law. you can shoot paratrooper while airborne. but you cannot shoot someone who parachuted in distress (jumped from fail plane and defenseless).

I'm sure I read an account of a bailed out pilot get a kill on a German trying to shoot them. most pilot's on both side well British/USA an Germany. read many accounts from both side of pilot's get a plane kill an pulling level an salute each other as if to say good fight brother good fight, hope we meet again

How would that help? Any machine gun on a plane is usually heavy or only able to be fired with the plane triggers. Besides, pilots in the military are given training like anyone else, they are given pistols, and are also trained to use other weapons/guns aswell.

It depend on which one you're referring to Shooting a parachutist like in this video were considered to be one as they're usually cannot do harm anymore Paratroopers on the other hand is a different story, since they use parachute to descent to their target and kill their enemies

If you attack allies constantly you will be sent back to the menu in WT World of Warships gives you pink for deserting a battle too early, World tanks gives you light blue for Team Killing and thats about it...

It's a war crime because you're shooting at a retreating enemy. That's why shooting down airborne paratroopers is not a war crime. They're considered active combatants.

The B18 is such a bad plane. It should be a war crime shooting that thing down. 1 defensive gunner, super slow, and doesn't even carry a big payload. I tell you, flying that thing is the most excruciating thing I've done so far.
