As someone whose father works in one of the top zoos in America, I can say this is 100% true. I can’t say which one because I want him to keep his job lol but I can say that almost every major zoo has looked into pandas at some point or another. A LOT of people want to see a panda so the attendance would go up SIGNIFICANTLY (which is very important because most zoos are suffering a lot right now so if you live near a zoo go support it). Because of this spike in attendance, there is a lot of costs that you wouldn’t normally think about. You have to increase staff, possibly build a separate building, up security (cause there are some people who REALLY like pandas), and build a separate parking garage that on its own could be another million dollars (or more). There would be even more additional costs regarding janitors and that kind of thing because more people means more messes. That being said, if the zoo can afford it it’s 100% worth the investment. China has an iron grip on pandas, but you also have to remember that the overwhelming demand has an even stronger one.

Yeah I forgot which zoo it was, but after adding just 2 pandas their revenue doubled. Pandas are a great investment

As animals belong to their respective habitats; zoos belong, like human slavery, to where they come from: the past history, written in books, so we don't forget how cruel humanity can be.

@@az8557 Pandas being in Zoos is a way for them to be kept alive and out of extinction. It is not entirely a zoo just for people to watch--it is a protected habitat made just for Pandas where they are coaxed into reproducing and becoming independent back into the wild, be protected fr natural predators, from lack of food (bamboos), etc. Humanity has done them right w those institutions.

Didn't know the US only had 4 zoos with pandas. Looked up the info on Japan: Only 1 zoo with Pandas in Japan, Tokyo's Ueno Zoo. Crazy.

Wow. In 2009 I saw Bao Bao during his last years at the Berlin Zoo. The panda enclosure and most of the entire zoo was sad as heck but at least nowadays zoos are pressured into providing a bit nicer living conditions for animals.

All I gotta say is...the professionals approved them being there.

@@RiceSquad Yet 2 me the kpop girls part in ur video will mislead ur subscribers to think that it's not a big deal 4 them to wear makeups and not to follow proper procedures while interacting with baby pandas.Actually canine distemper virus is extremely lethal to baby pandas, and the girls did keep dogs as pets. I assume a net influencer should be responsible 4 whatever he or she presented in their videos, no matter it is the main point or not.
