Wangs 2204HW - The Affordable Handwired JCM800 You Need To Try!

Музыка

The 2204HW is basically a handwired Marshall JCM800 clone from Wangs amps. At roughly half the cost of the Marshall Studio Classic SC20H and Marshall Studio Vintage SV20H while promising twice the tube power. In this half demo, half review video I'll lay it all out for you.
As this is the first video of the relaunch of my KZread channel there is a lot more content coming soon.

It certainly nails the hot-rod JCM800 tone. Your playing is just icing on the cake. Double harmonies for that added 80s vibe.

I have one. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it very well. No frills but that is what you want with this style amp. Just raw tone and power.

The lead on that tele is just plain amazing still retains that tele twang and the 80s feel then the Egyptian sounding harmony part 👌 As a proud Wangs owner. This makes me need this amp. The hd15 and the mini 5 and seriously they sound amazing and I personally love these amps and great demos like this are what sold me, not Jeff but it's been great getting to know him as not just a salesman but a friend. Great job

I have a Wangs 2204, OD30 and Mini 5. I bought them all between 3 and 5 years ago and they are all still running strong. They are amazing amps. Of the 3, the 2204 is the only hand wired, but I would put these up against any other Amp the respective circuits are based on.

I was friends with a guy, Jeff Kalish, on Facebook - he is or at least was their US distributor. I haven't seen him on there lately though so I dunno what's going on.

Hi Steve, when using modulation, reverb and delay do they sound best in an effect loop or through front end input? Love your playing. Thank you

  • @TheGuitarNerdShow

Hi! I definitely prefer reverb and delay in an effects loop. Running through the front of an amp they tend to muddy things up. Modulation is a different story. I always like phase/flange type stuff before the amp. Chorus, it depends what I’m going for. I tend to use it in the loop but sometimes I’ll put it up front, depending on what I’m going for. If I want the chorus effect to be in your face, it goes before the amp. If I want it more subtle or lush, I’ll put it after the amp. Thanks for watching!

Awesome Steve, glad you're back making videos and I'm looking forward to the next ones! The jcm800 has been my dream amp as a kid listening to 80s metal band and the tones you get are amazing 😁 how you've been doing with the bugera 1960 so far? Mine is still rocking and since I've got a Torpedo Captor I've even used it to record all the electric guitars I played for my band's new EP.

Hey Fabio! My 1960 is still rocking. I plan to do a new, better video on that one really soon so stay tuned. Wangs makes a clone of the 50 Watt Plexi - I’d love to get my hands on one of those to demo.
