Walter Matthau is a legend. could do serious roles but his comedy is legendary.

Yep! Hasn't been like that in many years. I enjoyed watching Johnny, Merv Griffin, Dick Cavett............even David Letterman in his early years. These days Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Colbert just put me in a bad mood....way too political. Can you imagine if Johnny Carson came on and all he did was rant about Richard Nixon for an hour?

@@noneyabizz8337 Same here. Like Johnny, he was a quick thinker. Different interview styles but just as funny as Johnny. His personality was also different from Carson. Ferguson's interviews with Robin Williams were extraordinary. Both riffed off each other at lightening speed. I miss them both. Wish Craig would come back to annoy the censors again lol.

@@howardford6991 how is Jimmy Fallon “too political” when he was criticized for not taking jabs at politicians like Carson, Letterman, and Leno. revisionist history at its finest. you’re just cherry picking to like some out of touch old head. laughably sad.

@howardford6991 Johhny sound go after everyone regardless of politely affiliation. He was fearless and a true generational talent. I really liked Jay Leno as well.

Always was. He's dead now
Walter looked like he was 50, but walked like he was 90.
The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three is the best movie of all time.

Ahhh...." Gesundheit,Fella"..... For sure,it was a good one!😂😂😂😂
I've been told that Matthau was extra kind to folks outside of Show Business.
Walter Matthau and his son Charles were both clients of mine, both lived in Pacific Palisades. Walter was a very gregarious and nice person; his son, not so much. I told Walter that one of his lines in Charley Varrick made my Dad laugh so hard he almost broke a rib. He asked what it was, so I told him it was in the scene where he was in a Vegas hi-rise with a woman who had a round bed. The line was "I've never slept in a round bed, do you lay east, west, north or south?" When she replies, "Well, what did you have in mind?" he says "What I had in mind was boxing the compass," Walter admitted he didn't remember saying that but smiled and acknowledged that it was a funny line. RIP.
Love Walter
My uncle a Boston cop named John looked just like him. We always called him Waltah.
these guys were stars !! what a simpler time .. thanks for the memories 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for the info on these actors I hear Johnny Carson Show was a legend of all things
What a great joke! RIP Walter.
This show is still untouchable after 30 years and running.
The fortune cookie…. One of his best comedy……..😂😂😂

I though my retina was detaching.
It's All About Delivery.
I saw this episode recently on reruns. He's a great raconteur.
Jack lemmon vondt ik ook altijd erg goed, en vooral samen met matau. Dan was het echt lachen om die 2❤😊
What a great buildup to his breakfast joke.
Hopefully soon they will start uploading monologues with intros
Detached retna, same thing happened to me. So weird! Out of nowhere. Big emergency, you can go blind.
Ironic that an eye recovering, sun glass wearing Mr. Matthau talks of his poolside encounter with the Reverend Schuller. My one time speaking with him was at the Braille Institute of LA luncheon where he was wearing his “Coke bottle” glasses…
Detached retina easy to fix if attended to emergently. Had one myself. Hemorrhaging dealt with as he said.
How could Matthau have been with a roommate with his money? It was a joke just as his being with someone.
Shame we couldn't see the movie clip
I thought Walter Mathau was the strange roomate? His name was Jack Lemmon.
Every time I saw him at Santa Anita ---he was an asshole. He owned a stable an never had time to talk, even though I had a booth 3 rows from his and he would sit a drink half the time. Great sport
I enjoy many of your videos from marvelous Johnny and his guests. But, how is it possible you guys do not show the movie clips? It is important part of the show. How can you guys do not see this? Video is not the same if we don't see the movie clip. Reactions from guests and Johnny are not appreciated, nor the video. Thanks.
Did he really have eye surgery, or did he make up a story.
Too old.

@tryone You’re obviously too young and don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. 🙄
Fine comic actor. And often a good guest. But this movie plug put me to sleep. Whoever did the pre interview must have told Johnny he was going to have to turn on the charm and smile a lot to cover up this waste of 9 minutes. Oy!
