    The only EVs worth considering are the higher end models $50k+. The tax credit is pretty absurd when you can consider who can afford these cars in the first place, especially when current interest rates are around 7%. Out of the 13 vehicles currently eligible for the tax credit there’s really only 1 “affordable”car for the average American, the Chevy Bolt. The average middle/low income family isn’t going to want a tiny car with a 250mile range and slow charging speeds. I will take advantage of the tax credit because I want to get a Tesla Performance model, but does it make sense to offer me tax dollars to buy a cool fast car? No 😂

  • @daneast

    @daneast

    5 ай бұрын

    Oil and brake changes don't cost $1000 a year. Maybe $150 a year on average since brakes are not even replaced yearly. All the rest - tires, windshield wipers, etc, are consumed just the same as an EV. Brakes on an EV do last longer (about twice as long) because of generative braking, but they still need to be changed during the lifetime of the battery. So I have no idea where they're coming up with that kind of savings. EV batteries slowly degrade from day 1, just like cell phone batteries, and have to replaced at 100k to 200k miles, and that costs $16,000 (Tesla Model 3) which is far more than buying a totally rebuilt ICE engine and having it installed.
