    im so excited for the new mt09sp, i have already started saving months ago. they changed everything i wanted brakes looks and ergo to be more of a sporty bike as well as rake angle and other things i think the new mt is gonna be sick!

    I love how they flattened the slope of the seat . I couldnt stand the slope of the 3rd gen seat it made me feel like i was lunging forward more and felt less room to move fore and aft cause of rhe concave shape. I liked rhe mt07 seat area much more and rhe new mt09 redesign fixed that for me

    Honestly the 22' SP has the riding position I really prefer. I also really like the cyclops look... minus the exposed horn. The new model definitely looks cool... but it looks like everything else at the same time(miniature sport bike face).

    I will be buying the 2026 model year SP - by then, my current 2020 SP will have more than 80'000 kms on the clock. So my current bike is a 2018 launch design but hit the street as 2020 production model - has been a gem with currently 52'000 fuss-free kms on the odo 😅💯🏁

    Great video. Honestly upgrading doesn’t interest me this time round I got rid of my sports bike in favour of the comfort of my MY09 so for me it would be a step backwards. I also agree that missing out anything that’s 1st gen is a key play.

    i'll be happy to upgrade my 23 mt09sp brakes to newer gen brembo stylemas. For 4th gen, I do like the redesigned look, brembos, and ability to switch off rear abs but i'll prolly keep mine til 5th gen with redesigned engine.

    Hey I was wondering if you ever solved the issue with your bike eating oil. What did Yamaha discover? Was there a fix? And what dealer did you take your bike to?

  • @TylerCharest

    @TylerCharest

    7 ай бұрын

    Hey, the issue seems to be solved, but still putting miles on the bike to verify. The shop did a leak down test and discovered that two of the three cylinders were outside proper range (ie. leaking/loosing more than 10% compression). They ran ring cleaner through the oil and retested the compression, and everything was back in range. If it still burns oil, I’ll bring it back and they’ll replace the rings and head gasket. For now, it seems alright… Been working with Del Amo Motorsports.

    @@TylerCharest So I had a similar experience with my bike as I changed the oil last. I lost 1 quart of oil at the 8000 mile mark. Was told to keep an eye on it at every 2000 miles. When I changed the oil at the time, I remember having a lot left over in the 4th quart bottle. Am hoping it was my fault… Also my warranty ended and if it was a motor problem, I wouldn’t be able to have Yamaha cover it anyways.

Squeaking brakes are hardly issue of manufacturing. Waiting with bike because of third party manufacturers is kind of eyebrow rising moment for me ;-)

    The new MT09 changes look great all around. Didn't think they could improve so much but yeah, it sure looks good. However, the price to play has gotten real expensive!. Do you get the new MT09 or the reintroduced 2024 790 Duke at $9199. I don't know how much freight costs to add for the KTM. They list no prices on their website anymore for 2024 (interesting). Now before everyone pukes on me for comparing the 790 Duke to the MT09, it is a close alternative whether you like it or not. You also have to add $575 to the MT09 list price of $10,599 plus all the taxes and other fees, so you better have some good amount of free monthly cash flow or a good pile of extra cash you can afford to part with for the new MT09.

  • @TylerCharest

    @TylerCharest

    8 ай бұрын

    Fair point. For the price of the MT-09 SP, you might also consider getting onto the new KTM 990. It's a bit more money than the SP but it comes with an additional 100cc. I suppose its good to have options!

  • @SonriseSunset

    @SonriseSunset

    8 ай бұрын

    @@TylerCharest Yes, interesting point on the new 990 KTM model ( tho I don't care for the "new" look , especially the ehaust, looks like every other exhaust set up now). It's always good to have choices, no? Another thought, the MT09 has adjustable suspension. None of the "base" KTM models (790s and 890s) have that, though you can order adjustable WP suspension components that fit inside existing forks and adjustable WP rear shock. You have to contact and order thru a KTM dealer so there are no prices to easily compare unless you contact a dealer. I imagine tho, you are probably looking at a couple of grand (USD). A good aftermarket rear shock can set you back $1000. Then add in installed at another grand at least for the dual set up? So then the MT09 price doesn't look so bad? Many ways to slice and dice today's motorcycle values. Maybe just boils down to what you like best, you're not going to go wrong with any choice. And the new MT09 sure looks good and the updates are convincing. Everything I thought was missing in the last generation std MT09....now if they only did something different with that exhaust can?

  • @TylerCharest

    @TylerCharest

    8 ай бұрын

    @@SonriseSunset I didn't know that you could buy upgraded suspension parts and have them installed at a KTM dealership. Super interesting and definitely an additional cost that is worth considering when your comparing it to the MT09 SP which has the adjustable suspension built into the pricing. Certainly not going to go wrong with any of these bikes. I am curious to see how the overall performance of the 990 compares to the MT09! I agree, the exhaust design is generally a bit underwhelming across these bikes at the moment.

    Exhaust, not different (aside from muffler hanger position), Akrapovic probably already got a test mule in for development. Everything else doesn't matter. ECU flash won't be a problem, Woolich should have that data in no time (same hardware as before, only difference is airbox tuning). As compared to my stock 2018, it's all night and day different.
