I actually did enjoy it as a kid 😅 Though a while back I heard a video criticizing it and I can definitely understand and agree with the points they had for it (I also remember hearing an interesting fan theory some people have that Fred is actually a mad god, which sounds interesting to me and definitely seems possible)

@@monkeystuff661 Kids' WB was from 1995-2008. So it wasn't just a 90s thing. In fact, it was on more years in the 2000s (7-8) than the 90s (4 and change-ish). Almost double.

This cartoon was written by same guy that did Bubsy and later seasons of Fairly Odd Parents

The voice actor of Fred, Rob Paulson, said this was the only voice role he's ever regretted. This is a man who voiced roles in the godawful *_Balto_* and *_A Land Before Time_* straight to DVD sequels, and the lead role in "A Gnome Named Gnorm". He even voiced Bubsy. BUBSY. And THIS is the one he's personally ashamed of.

Coconut Fred is like one of the multiversal variants of Spongebob Squarepants that nobody talked about, but has a personality of a sugar cereal, which explains his extreme hyperactive nature.

Many of the animators including Matt Danner originally intended to have Go Go Moba Boy be a full series on Kids WB but was rejected in favor of this.

I unfortunately did watch this show back in the day. Looking back at it nearly 20 years later later it was a weird fever dream of a show.

I mostly remember this show for its theme song and how Kids’ WB kinda pushed Fred to be their mascot. They wanted their own SpongeBob so bad.

I actually do remember it! It was one of the Saturday morning cartoons on WB Kids that was in the same time slot as Animaniacs. It was one of the more experimental cartoons and honestly I still remember it fondly. 😅❤

I was officially introduced to Coconut Fred when watching a video from KZreadr, Vailskibum, back in 2017, where he talked about it being considered a SpongeBob rip-off.

Man it felt like yesterday I watched that show and gave it a bad review at the time as a kid. Looking at it now, the production history is so fascinating.

It is one of those animated Warner Bros. shows that are nowhere to be available legally, not on iTunes, Amazon Prime, or even Max.

Spongebob: *Sees coconut fred* Who put you on the planet? EUGH!

This is one of the two roles Rob Paulson thoroughly regrets doing. The other being Bubsy from that dropped Bubsy series pilot from the 90's.

if you do anymore obscure tv shows I would love to see you talk about the show "space goofs" because the show's history alone is really interesting (and don't forget the fugu fish meme from a year back)

This takes place in the same universe as Oggy and the Cockroaches. (There is an episode where Oggy is playing with his dollhouse that resembles the hideout of the aliens in Space Goofs).

I'd be in complete shock if you remember This Just In (Spike TV series from 2004), Shuriken School, Will and DeWitt, Sidekick, Scaredy Squirrel, Boyster and/or Cloudy W/ A Chance of Meatballs 2017 existed.

This is one of the few SpongeBob clones that doesn't have a main female friend who acts as Sandy Cheeks's stand in (Also, the fact that the female friend also acts the love interest in those shows, unlike the original show they based on). It would be interesting to see what Coconut Fred's hypothetical female friend would be like.

I want to see more of this show so bad. I remember growing up with KidsWB mornings, watching this show, and being sad there weren't more than 13 episodes.

I like to believe that Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls has a deathly fear of Coconut Fred. Like if Fred showed up during Weirdmageddon, either Bill Cipher would go out on his own terms or flee the dimension, telling everyone that the crazy coconut guy is their problem now.

Both shows SpongeBob and coconut feed were probably inspired by Giligans Islands so that’s probably the reason why their compared so often to each other

say what you will about Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island, but child me loved the episode where the cast were all dressed up like videogame characters, it had Fred as Cloud, the Green Apple Bully as Sephiroth, the banana brothers as Mario and Luigi, the Cherry was Navi (from Zelda). sure there's lot's of videogame references these days but at the time this was mind-blowing.

Another show with few episodes, but is missed a lot by its fans is The Oblongs. Not sure if you've done a video on it before, but it'd be nice to see one on it.

All I remember about this show is it having a full on FF7 reference.

I remember the network marketing the heck out of this show. I saw a couple of episodes and thought it was decent. When I remember most about this is Rob Paulsen hated working on this show.

The best 'Happy Go-Lucky Idiot main character' cartoons is Jimmy Two-Shoes. The difference is that the person Jimmy constantly bothers is a terrible being (basically the friggin' devil) and a jerk so he deserves it, so you never feel annoyed by Jimmy like you would if you empathize with Squidward.

Coconut fred is litterly a god who got bored of being alone so he decided to create himself an island and everyone on it was just his creations and all of this is shown in the intro

my memory of this show were on their way out until ibsaw your thumbnail. I remember not much caring for the show when it was airing. but I also forget when that would have been. ig 05 or so? it got over shadowed by other shows for me. I never truly gave it a shot.

I remember the PT-BR dub of it was pretty great, they gave a lot of energy to Fred and didn't make him too annoying

As someone trying to make a show with anthropomorphic food, this is a great example of what NOT to do.

I have watched this show when it first aired. But the only reason I watched Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island was because it was part of the Saturday morning lineup on Kids WB. Every Saturday, I would get up and turn the TV to WB, because that's when they'd play the latest episodes of both Poke'mon and Yu-Gi-Oh. But while waiting for those shows to air, there were several others in the mix like Jackie Chan Adventures, Mucha Lucha, Max Steel, Static Shock, and Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island. That's the only reason I watched it or know this show even existed.

I'll always remember this and Johnny Test as being the beginning of the end for KidsWB, at least for me.

I liked this show a lot as a kid, it and viva piñata occupy a similar part of my childhood memories. I have a distinct memory of watching the episode that parodied video games and then playing yoshis story immediately after the episode ended. I loved spongebob but I never thought the show was a rip off, it never crossed my mind

Since I didn't have cable or satellite, it was impossible for me to watch SpongeBob on TV. So as a kid, I greatly appreciated having a Spongebob-like show to watch on Kids WB. Haters, think about viewers like me!

I don't think this show ever made it to the UK, as I've recently found out most shows shown on the kids WB block where 99% of the time on cartoon network here in UK. Unless it did but I just kept on missing it due to it being so short.
