Fighting Foodons is the kind of anime that looks like it would be playing in the background of a better anime.

No sir. The 4Kids opening was perfection and the reason I recalled this anime long after I watched it. Though I will admit I had my doubts of it being a fever dream for a few years...

"Turtle fighting a dragon"... I think that was the one episode I saw, too. I remember wanting to watch more and just never seeing it on the schedule ever again. Also, Fried Ricer was voiced by Andrew Rannells, who later went on to play Elder Price in The Book of Mormon. Just something I thought was interesting.

I was not aware Andrew Rannells helped work for 4KIDS past "Pokemon Live", that's really neat--so why exactly do we give 4KIDS a bad time, again? Just because of their crummy business practices? They helped bring a lot of talented people into the industry despite their problems. If anything, there should be more gratitude towards them for that alone.

“You know how the story goes: you saw one episode when you were a kid, never saw anymore episodes and forgot about it until you saw my video” I mean...yeah

One of my earliest memories is being at my grandparents' house and watching an episode of Fighting Foodons dubbed in Cantonese and one dude comes in dressed as a tree and says "I am one tree" really weirdly in Cantonese

"Forgotten-" I NEVER FORGOT THIS MADNESS!! I also remember that Clawdia was my favorite character as a kid, if simply because she was a pink cat and that was unique-ish. I thought it was lame when she turned into a normal person toward the end of the series. I also loathed Pie-Tin. Because he was the dumb kid character. In hindsight they all are, but my younger brain singled him out. While I do remember this show and the Fox Box... I moreso remember Ultimate Muscle and Kirby Right Back At Ya'!... But yeah, a silly series without a lot of substance? I guess you could call this- "DON'T SAY IT!" ... the "fast food" of anime.

The funny thing is I made up my own foodons….. and there sooo….goood!!! There apple slices: a samurai apple Grape minder: a prospector grape Ham-ank: a ham tank…. There look aid man:….don’t ask. Lolly poppy: a Harley Quinn that also has a lollipop hammer. And pizza knight: a pizza knight….. These are good…. Kind of.

I remember that one episode where the gang were trying to get rid of Chase's and Fried Ricers fear of octopus and squid. The most *hilarious* episode of Fighting Foodon I have seen to date, the trauma on Fried Ricers face is gold, and makes you want to question why are they tormenting that poor rice man.

You need to take a look at Devil Children/DemiKids, a Pokémon clone from the Shin Megami Tensei series, which is said to be the origin of the genre, The changes they made to the demons makes it all worth it.

I loved this show as a kid, and it really sparked creativity in me. I remember they had a "Design Your Own Foodon" contest when I was in like third grade. And I drew dozens of them in my notebook during class. The show made it really easy because the designs were pretty simple and it was all related to stuff I knew really well. I'm neither an artist or a chef, but that kind of push to embrace creativity for me came from this show, to some degree.

Been forever since I've watched one of these. I vaguely remember this series, I do remember watching stuff like "Digimon", bits and some episodes of "Ultimate Muscle", but really else. Looking at this series here, it definitely looks like a parody only "Mad" magazine would've come up with. Also any time I saw the main character in this series, his appearance makes me think of Yugi from "Yu-Gi-Oh!", and hey, that was another anime series that was hacked by "4-Kids". Great video man.

I'd love to see you tackle shaman king and/or sonic x. I remember both of them from the fox box and grew up with them

@@sorcerersapprentice Me too. I was sad when they stopped dubbing the rest of the series right after Zoey's friends were turned into Lovebirds by Dren. I had gotten tired on watching Sonic X reruns also. Luckily, Chaotic came out the next year and 4Kids started showing reruns of Yu-Gi-Oh from the beginning especially the Season 1 episodes that haven't seen since their first run Kids WB and Cartoon Network. Man, y'all got a dude on Nostalgia trip. I was 5 years old when I first saw Fox Box ending although I was mad that Fox Kids had ended. At least I got to watch Digimon every day though.

My only memory of this was when they held a art contest where you would draw your own foodon and the winner of the contest would have their foodon starred on the show. My kid creativity was off the charts back then

This must have been a fever dream when someone saw food war and pokemon at the same time.

So this show wasn't a hey fever dream that I had as a child.

I had great memories of this show as a kid. Then I rewatched it when I was older and was like, man.... this is super little kiddish... probably why I liked it back then. it certainly didnt age well. I'd still watch it over alot of the new kids shows on today though.

That's what happened when I tried rewatching digimon. They're constantly talking but it's all meaningless. Like you get everyone just saying the same thing that you can see on screen, people making puns, people failing to make puns, weird references that don't have anything to do with what's on screen... It's a mess.

Fighting Foodons is a show that haunts me every day of my life how dare you claim that I forgot about it

I talk about this show all the time and I'm so happy to see you talking about it now. This show was a trip and a half and I almost didn't trust my memory the first time I remembered it existed again. I was like "No that couldn't have been a real show it haaaaaaaad to be a dream!" but boy was I wrong XD k but you reversing your slight exhale after "grain in the neck" literally made me pause and lmao

HOLY. SHIT. Billiam has done it again. He has dredged up a memory that I forgot existed because I haven't thought about this show since I was a kid. Your content is a trip!!

The only reason I think this one has stuck in my brain ever since I was a kid (despite being a die-hard Kids WB fan, thanks in no small part to the triple threat of Jackie Chan Adventures, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!) is just because the series was so bizarre and became my gold standard for outrageously stupid anime. I can’t even remember stuff that I LIKED as much as I remember Fighting Foodons for none of the right reasons.

I never understood the fandom for that show. Mind you, it may just be that I prefer gintama's absurdity over bobobo being a total acid trip

I KNEW IT WAS REAL! Every 8 or 9 months, I'll remember this show... I want them to bring it back purely cause the era of current animes we are in would totally make this acceptable

I miss watching Fighting Foodon, but I can fully say this show kinda always felt like a fever dream even after the show just ended. Had anyone seriously question themselves about “Did I just watched a show about characters cooking food that gain sentience just to fight one another, to prove which one is better taste? Nah, but seriously.”

I literally never forgot Fighting Foodons. I was one of the kids who wasn't allowed to watch Pokemon, so I had to make due with this Burnt Meatballs of an anime.

Thanks a lot Billiam. You made me remember the damn theme song, and now it's in my head. But for real, I did watch Fighting Foodons back then, and I thought it was okay....wierd, but okay.

I vaguely remember a promotion on KidsWB where they asked viewers to draw food related monsters and list the ingredients used to make it. I am going to half assume it was for this show. I was thinking about it last year, so thank you for jogging my memory!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers this. Whenever I try to tell my friends about it they think I'm tripping.

I forgot about fighting foodons for the longest time, remembered it a few years ago, and i adore how cheesey it is... pun intended. Clawdia might have also been my furry awakening. Back when i was like five. For once you werent the re-awakening of these memories. Imo its so bad its good.

This was a fun Saturday morning show I greatly enjoyed. Fun food puns, with some creative creatures, and a fairly nice concept.

Finally, high quality footage! This was mentioned in Drawfee but only low quality images were shown.

The ony thing i remember watching this as a kid is the Fried Ricer character, since then everytime i have ever heard the word "Fried Rice" my mind just goes to that one clip of Fried Ricer saying his name..... "Fried Ricer"

The memories are all flooding back to me about this Saturday morning nightmare I always watched

I had deep memories of Fox Kids. I thought Fighting Foodons was part of that memory until the commercial reminded me it was broadcasted during the Fox Box era. I no longer have the urge to scour for old episodes, thanks for your video :)

Yes, this show was an obsession of mine when I was younger and I always thought it was a fever dream. It was two kids going to the "Mon World" to save monsters from being controlled by the bad guy. But my memories of it mash with Flint: Time Detective, so I can't really remember if this was the show with the creepy masked man that turned out to be a psychopathic child... I think MonKoli had the obvious James from Team Rocket clone and he'd always be defeated and fly off leaving a smoke cloud that looked like a rose.

@@ashensage6034 I think Prince Ecentro had a mask for, like, half a minute in the first episode. I more remember his sidekicks, espeshily the one who sounded like a complete air head and said the stupidest things, but was the only one who bothered to read anything about the monsters and always escaped whatever punishment the other two got. Also the rediculosly long take off segments for both the good guys and bad guys that they always talked over.

Oh yes!! As a kid a i tried to makes some of the dishes from the show this actually made realize I loved cooking, went to culinary school been in the business for 10 years and now planning on getting a food truck next year.

i clicked this thinking i hadn't heard of them, but something deep within me remembers that song.

I don't know what the heck you're trying to say, but the Ninja Turtles anime came out in 96, which was before Powerpuffs even existed, & Powerpuff Girls Z didn't come out til 2006.

I remember watching this on the 4kids website as a brat.

You mentioning the website reminded me of the hours I wasted as a kid coloring those awful stock images of 4Kids characters with the MS Paint style bucket tool. That's how my first re-colored Sonic OC was born. He didn't even have a name, he was just an ugly neon pink and puke green Sonic with all yellow shoes. An absolutely horrendous abomination. Thanks for the memories 4Kids.

I remember watching an episode or two of this show and thinking how nice it must have been for the show's creators to get paid to put the least amount of effort imaginable into an anime.

I remember the theme song more than any of the episodes, I also remember seeing a dragon Ball cartoon on upn along seeing the episode of Pokemon with a town that was split up into 2 gangs amd Pikachu loving a bottle of ketchup.
