I love Jeffry Wright as the watcher. He really does the character justice. His last line in the 5th episode “How does he keep doing that?” really gave me a good chuckle

One could also see this as Groot was the one who helped save the universe by giving Stormbreaker its handle. This finale was before Infinity War and Endgame, so maybe that's what the Watcher was referring to.

I know right! This whole time I wondered how they'd pull off a live version of his character, and they did it flawlessly

These shorts were surprisingly good! Some of the background shots were drawn beautifully! Loved that last episode with the Watcher!

I think these are fun. I wonder how long Groot was playing that game, because he was taking root to the pillow. It's nice to know that there are icecream trucks in interstellar space. Groot found the best way to beat the claw game.

the ship in all of these shorts is the Benatar, not the Milano meaning that the I am Groot timeline jumps around a lot before and after Vol. 2

What I love about these shorts is they've managed to catch my daughters attention but we can't seem to get past episode 1 season 2 . It's just that funny to her ❤😂😂😂

Some shorts take place between Vol. 1 and 2, but there are others taking place between Vol. 2 and Infinity War aswell. They were still flying around in part of that big ravager ship by the end of Vol. 2, that's where Yondu was cremated and his remains sent out into space for his funeral. You can even see that part of it detatch from the ship in the clip used! Those shorts just take place on that ship, they probably used it as headquarters for a while. The Disney+ timeline is correct in placing it there.

But my problem is why is the Benetar shown here and last season if the Guardians would be using the Ravanger ship after Vol.2? We don't see the Benetar until Infinity War and they wouldn't have gotten this early in their point of the timeline.

Yes! Besides Season 1 episode 1, all the other I Am Groot episodes are after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and before Avengers Infinity War. Pretty sure Groot is on the Ravager “Quadrant” space ship, the front part that broke off from the exploding Eclector ship. The same Quadrant ship in Vol. 2 that Kraglin landed on the Ego planet and the same Quadrant ship the Guardians watched Yondu’s funeral fireworks from at the end of Guardians Vol. 2. They were inside the Quadrant looking out. The Guardians Vol. 2 tag scene of Teenage Groot in his room is also on the Quadrant ship. Groot is on the Quadrant ship for the nose and ice cream episode in season 2 {Episode 2 and 4}. Same Quadrant location with Groot Season 1 {episodes 3 and 5}. See Marvel Wiki.

@@burneyboys02because, just like we saw in Vol.2, the ship almost never enters atmosphere (probably because it’s too big). They use it as a mobile base and then the Benatar to go on missions.

The Watcher is so interesting I definitely want to see more of him and definitely if possible in live action truly, in a movie.

@flap.d.jack247 yeah, the first was in GotG2 (Stan Lee is telling them about his cameo in Civil War). Then in this series. Only difference is, this Watcher is voiced by the same actor (Jeffrey Wright) as the one in the animated What If ..? series.

I loved these shorts! Such a shame there were only 5 of them. I was a bit disappointed when the last one was over and there was no "watch the next episode" button. But they are so much fun!
