Love the book, liked the musical (I've seen it way too many times since I usher at a theater) and I am looking forward to the movie. However, I am not too happy with Ariana Grande. I wish the movie would have been made a long time ago with Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.

I was right there with you until the “…one pretty good scene…” which is just a slightly muted, childish gore fest. Which, inexplicably, you then cite as evidence that the director “…can do this type of story.” Huh? Which type of story? The type you say he isn’t making by giving us a Fantastic Four movie so bereft of the actual, beloved FF of the comics? Or do you mean blood-soaked horror films? Surely you can’t mean superhero movies in general, right? Because one scene that apparently appeals to you but is questionable at best in a superhero film (at least the way it’s done) hardly makes up for the majority of others that are so utterly terrible. Something this video did that was interesting was the reference to The Fly, in which Jeff Goldblum’s dick drops off. Apparently, for reasons beyond understanding, the same thing happens to Jamie Bell in this movie. Which does have a kind of real-world metaphorical irony, since the marriage between Bell and Kate Mara is supposedly one of those old-school convenience arrangements studios used to do all the time to obscure movie star sexual orientations. But that’s all just kind of weird, just like, as you point out, the Thing walking around without pants, apparently having lost his genitalia while retaining his fingers and toes for…reasons. Wouldn’t trunks, or something, have been easier to depict? Such a strange choice….

So in X-men 97 Morph points out how Wolverine is always the last to die or is always a survivor. I think they are going to play into the pack that in many different time lines the X-men die but Logan lives and the hero Wolverine the TVA are looking for died in the movie Logan.

the goat really stuck out to me cuz a whole part of his story is that him (and other humanoid animals) are slowly becoming less human and more animalistic. it's part of the mystery of what's happening in Oz that i'd say is a big part of the story. Really interested to see how they do it in this movie.
