In the US it's rated at 280 HP and has front wheel drive as standard. Here in Europe we get the 300 HP and 4 motion as standard... :)

I've had mine for 4 years now and can honestly say I've done it over a 100 times (a lot of standing starts especially in the first year :D). It hasn't gone wrong yet.

We have a Tiguan R-line right now. Video in a few weeks

the european cc (fsi) has 300 horsepower ; in usa u guys get the 280 horsepower

Its about $30,000 for a single turbo package. You`ll get about 500 hp. Or if u want a twin turbo its about $41,000 and you'll get around 640hp. They even make a 740 hp package specifically for the golf r using the 3.6 engine. this is there most expensive package. im not sure how much but someone told me its $54,000. there prices are crazy but these guys are the best in the world when it comes to tuning VWs,

Ummm YES.... In Europe it's rated at 300HP and 350Nm and had the DSG from it's launch. In the Americas it got 280HP and 370Nm, the same tune as the Touareg and a conventional auto box with a torque converter with the DSG arriving later on. Not everyone lives in the US......

What kills its time past the 150 kph mark is the fact that this gearbox is effectively a 5 speed one. The 6th is an overdrive. The 4th speed in particular is very very long.

Paulo Vieira You did one thing right - when you write an uninformed comment about something that you have no idea about, its positive that you make it so blatantly obvious that people reading it won't be in doubt. This car uses DSG - Direct Shift Gearbox. A revolutionary gearbox invented by Volkswagen over a decade ago. In essense it operates like a manual transmission with a shifting robot doing the gear changes. This maintains all the benefits of manual transmission, like efficiency in terms of economy and power/loss. Unlike similar, but completely shitty, gearboxes in e.g. the Smart or many French cars, it's not a single clutch gearbox though, which would result in an annoying pause when shifting gear. Instead it uses two clutches that are concentricly arranged, and preselects gears in an almost telepathic way, so that when it does shift it shifts directly from one gear into the other gear. Gear changes are almost undetectable and can be performed stupidly fast - and since the transmission keeps the efficiency of a manual transmission, the car itself is fast because the transmission isn't stealing half the power. To avoid the stupid pause gears/ratios must be (and are) distributed along two transmission axles, one holding 1, 3, 5 and in case of a 7 speed transmission also ratio 7. The other holds R, 2, 4 ,6. So a shift from 2nd to 3rd basically consists of decoupling clutch X and coupling clutch Y, almost in the same millisecond. It doesn't have a torque converter to loose half the engine power in, it doesn't have an idiotic system where the car creeps forward even when the brakes are fully applied so the engine and brakes are fighting each other - and it sure as shit doesn't have overdrive.

Nicoleise, you smart ass: much better than you, who write a lot of obvious things and yet fail to provide an answer to what had been questioned. It's maximum speed is reached in 5th, so yes, the sixth is a gear for economy. That's why a similarly weighted but much less powered Golf R32 reaches 200 kph quicker (not to mention its obvious worse aerodynamics).

Point of correction, vw golf r32 weighs 1500kg has 250 hp for Mkv, this Passat weighs 1700 kg yes with more power...

Another thing that kills its time is that the DSG short shifts all gears. Notice that this is the same gearbox used in turbo engines that have maximum power at 6200 rpm at best. This engine has a peak power at 6600 rpm. Some power plots show that it still generates around 200 kW at 7000 rpm. If anyone search "passat cc 3.6 remaped" will see the advantage of changing gear at 7000+ rpm.

It'll auto shift @6700rpm regardless. It only short shifts in 3rd. The DSG used for turbo applications is the DQ500 not DSQ250 used here.

I've led this car at speeds of 265 / km mph

have to disable esp to enable launch control. most of cars work this way.

Now do the VR6 CC's in North America also come with DSG transmissions or are they regular automatics? Because I've heard both from equally reliable resources and can't find out which one.

Hi, I like to buy one of this in Argentina, V6, 300 CV, 4 motion. I am a user of mercedes benz and I am not completely decided yet. A mechanic told me that only Merc, Audis and BMs are cars that you can drive at 180km/h constantly. Other cars, like Ventos (jetta) have problems with the injectors. Is that the case of the CC? It seems you have run fine with the car, for how many kilometers you have it? Did you drive fast usually? Please share with me your experience. I really like the car, I read a lot about it and I need just an small push to buy one. Thank you. Gustavo.

@@gustavososa4364 Yo tenía un 2.0T. Era igual, 3000 rpm. a 160. Andando a 180 (con un viento razonable) ha llegado a hacer 9 km/L. Hacía Santa Fe - Buenos Aires en 3 hs. Desde Santa Fe a Rosario que hay menos gente que en la 9 le ponia el control de crucero a 200 / 210 y e iba crucereando a esa velocidad. El motor nunca se quejó. Cochazo.

@@joaquincrespo1223 Doy clases en Pilar, voy desde Rosario. 210 a 4000rpm. Todavía le quedan casi 3000rpm en el tacómetro. Pero no vas mucho tiempo a esa velocidad. Un hermoso auto. Este año lo vendo para pasarme a un 2015, el mío es 2010. Un auto increíble, no vuelvo más a mercedes, la 4motion cuando llueve hace que el auto sea un tren.

@@packm2045 ESP is a stability program that detects if the car loses control , or in this case loses grip, so it cuts off the power and/or applies brake if necessary. Turning it off means that, even if you spin your wheels, the power is delivered without interfering. Q7 is a big car and i don't think you'll see much improvements on the tarmac, maybe more off-road.

put in s turn off esp, put foot on brake, then accelerate car will rev to around 3k drop brake and go!!!

Only USA has the VR6 280hp by the record, The European version has the V6 300 hp as said! Google it!
