I am thrilled at how many other people are infected with the virus of saving old VWs. You are bringing back such good(?)memories. The 2nd great Westy I put together, was found in a field in New Mexico. It was the home of a family of Roadrunners. Seriously. I would gently remove them, but the next day, they would be back. The story has a happy ending, and I am sure their ancestors are doing well. And the van also. Your determined ingenuity, is inspiring. Look forward to next video. Thank you.

I loved my 1965 factory camper. I lived in it for 1.5 years and toured western North America the entire time from Southern California to the Yukon Territory (1970/71) :-) Looking forward to seeing your progress .... Great Job Clark and Hillary. Oh yeah, not sure that what are technically referred to as "brake shoes" aren't technically "brake pads" ... must be a Texas/Oklahoma derivation :-)

Simply amazing work you’ve done here. These old VW busses have so much appeal, and I understand why folks refurbish them. I had a ‘72 model for a few years in the ‘80s. It was my favorite vehicle ever. A dream to drive, and so versatile. Best Of Luck

Clark, you guys have your work cut out. One rusty nut at a time man. Keep a smile on your dial!

A great thing for getting a part rust free is apple cider vinegar let it set a couple days then rinse it with a pressure washer or a garden hose takes all the rust off if it isn't totally cleaned do it again you will have to use some sort of chemical to stop the rust from coming back like a zinc coating or similar. I also heard that molasses works well too it is diluted with water one to seven and is a bit cheaper than vinegar I never used it but have great success with apple cider vinegar.

Clark got a small tip for you! you will love this take a propane torch you know the ones you use for soldering pipes or some use them for camping up here there green and heat the nut for about ten minutes make it hot enough you can't keep your hand on it and then take he breaker bar and it will come a lot easier for you! another thing you can do but it will cost a little more is bet a set of oxy acetylene torches you can get a mini bottle set I would get them on Craig's list used that way you get them cheaper if you check what a new set costs then it give you a good idea what would be a good price with this type it will heat a lot hotter and you easily would turn the bolt to a orange glow but for small bolts that are seized you can heat them up cherry red wait for it to cool down if it doesn't come do it again you can use a candle to help create a lubricant and it is not toxic or just quench it with water I usually do that as I am impatient to wait for it to cool. Look me up on FB if you have any problems pertaining to such things like this if I can help.
