MicBergsma any new updates re ur bus?
Not only do you do amazing technology and gopro reviews, but you are also restoring one of the most awesome vehicles ever created the VW Bus. Man, I'm glad I came across your channel and great job on doing the work yourself. I am a parts manager for a classic car restoration shop, so anytime I see someone working on their own vehicle and learning how to do it lets me know the passion is still alive in the classic car world.
What a delightful guy , he's got a beautiful smile

Kona has come a long way!
How cool. I restoring a 71 bus. I found that when you get the window seals use Wolfsburg West. I always used WCM but now they don’t have the fit they used to. Also, Bus Depot in Pennsylvania have good stuff. Between those two you should get everything. I love that patina. Like faded jeans.
You are my new NETFLIX!
I love how caring he was about the tarantula and not bothering it! So nice!

I like the way you bag things and label them. It's like a forensic investigation. BTW, instead of hitting metal on metal, put a piece of hardwood against the thing you are knocking loose and hit that with the hammer. Less chance of damaging the parts.
Been working on cars (and VW) for 50 years and I still use bags whenever it's going to be a long term job. (paper bags in the old days) Yeah, I know what the parts look like but it saves a lot of time when you do assembly weeks or months later.
Crazy to look back and see how far Kona has come along!! 🤙

Volkswagons, what a cool passion, I had a 65 bug...painted Indian war paint on the front of it when I was out in Colorado, Had to sell it for bus fair back home oh. Here's the cool thing... I saw it in a movie a year or so later … with the war paint still. Good luck with the project!

Sweet! Thanks for sharing the progress! So crazy to see all the work needed and all the parts. That's cool that you kept everything in bags. I wasn't as organized when I restored my bus and some things took longer and cost more because of my lack of organization. Good work dude, take care!

Anytime!! Yeah! I feel overwhelmed thinking about how much work I have to do to the bus but focus on one thing at a time... and I love working on it too! Haha oh man yeah I learned from a friend years ago and it helps take things done faster! Thanks man!
Love the bus man! I'll be waiting for the update
One of my dream cars! 😍
ooooh Yeh I just learnt that the bolts need to come all the way out before the pins will come out... 8:30mins thanks Mic
Awsome! been waiting for this video and to see the bus again! i have found that Liquid Wrench penetrating fluid works the best, some of my hardware on my bus was so rusty they almost snapped when removing. a little heat around the bolt will also help things break free. impact screw drivers are a bonus too! Great video!

Nice grass roots restoration. I appreciate the date stamp you include in your video clips. Keep it up!
I love the video i Can't wait for part 2!!!
Nice work! Remember this project is one of those projects that will get deeper and deeper every time you go to do something, costing more and more time and money. However it is so much fun and you will learn a ton (and people will be very excited for your work).

Skater Stimm So true. If I were him I would leave the paint the way it is. The new logo and mirrors look good against it, as will new rubber, upholstery etc. looks like it was a driver so the engine might be ok.
@SkaterStimm

@@linebacker79 He has a lot of rotten areas, he needs to take care of that first but if he kept the faded paint look it would look very cool athough that is very hard when you need to replace large sections of metal.
Dude, your videos are so good. I love watching this stuff.
Mad respect for restoring this thing
YESSSSS!!! Bus videos!! I love the bus! if you need to get rust off bolts or anything there is a thing called Evapo-rust. you put parts in it overnight and it totally takes ALL rust off the parts!! I love that stuff ..cant wait to see it all done!!

Yeah Chris! 🙌🏼
When knocking out old bolts it's always best to keep the nut on the thread to stop the bolt being burred at the end. Also, try using a nylon mallet to knock them out and not a ball hammer or claw hammer!!

Hi MicBergsma, I’ve just found your channel, love the clarity of the videoing, you can clearly see what’s going on and with clear explanations of what you’re doing makes good viewing. I’m in the UK and have a 1967 Morris Traveller, I too am doing some renovations but don’t have much mechanical knowledge so it’s a slow process for me. Looking forward to catching up on the rest of your vids. Cheers Mike.

Hi Mic- Did you ever think you would be still posting videos about Kona's restoration three years later??? Have you considered doing a video which compares Episode 1 with where you are at currently in the process?
Hi Mic!! Remember when you dismount diffrent parts from the Bus you have to mount them again in the opposite way as you removet them. keeping up the good work.Greetings. from Norway Hubertus.

I love these buses, i used to own one but it was too far rusted for me to repair it as i still live with my parents and havent got a lot of funding. Im really looking forward to part 2 since i want to see these things get worked on. I personally own a bit more of a modern minibus/van in the form of a suzuki super carry.
Such beautiful cars, lots of work, but worth it at the end.
