Any time KZread notifies me of a new video from Hallberg-Rassy I get excited and have a very big smile.

Not sure if Volvo is better than Yanmar or my fav, Beta Marine. BUT you used to use an awesome Volvo D4-180 in the HR 54. That engine was super good, very low reving and high torque and reliable. Might have been volvo's best engine and I would take it over Yanmar etc., But no one uses it now. The D2-75 I hear is also very good.

The Volvo Penta D4-180 is no longer produced and is replaced by the D4-175, which is used in the Hallberg-Rassy 57

@@HallbergRassy412 ..excellent engine. Cloudy Bay, an HR54, had the D4-180 and it sounded great and never had problems.

Nice! -- QUESTION -- This D2-75 seems really good. BUT who makes that base engine? Is it made by Perkins for Volvo? I heard that it was essentially a Perkins engine and one of their best made ones??

The Volvo Penta D2 series is based on a Perkins, altered by Volvo Penta, built by Perkins, serviced by Volvo Penta

@@HallbergRassy412 ...great looking and sounding engine and one of their best. I would probably chose the D2-75 over a Yanmar.
