In recent years we are seeing that almost every car maker is making really safe cars, Today almost every car is scoring full marking in Euro NCAP, Global NCAP, and iihs. But things were not the same 10 years from now
Car makers were not focusing that much on passenger safety, but still, even at that there was one car brand that was primarily focused on saving Its Occupants and it was Volvo.

    Volvo owner here and I'm sad to see you didn't talk about Volvo's overall reliability, practicality and luxury and I'd argue it's better than the German competition. In passive safety Volvo is still at the top, their crash tests on the SPA platform are much more rigorous than NCAP. However in active safety they can't compete with Tesla yet but they're in the second spot. Take the example of BMW X3 vs Audi Q5 vs Volvo XC60 vs Mercedes GLC 300. XC60 has way more standard set of features for safety, convenience and luxury, with the most legroom in the rear and overall boot space which are the most sought out features by SUV buyers. Their Bowers and Wilkins audio system is mind blowing, the experience is on par with an exotic bespoke luxury brand like a Bentley or Aston Martin.

    Volvo is the second most selling luxury car brand in India after Mercedes benz. Volvo is doing better than BMW in the Indian market.

    When original company doesnt have the true owner it's obvious it will crumble. That's why TATA let JLR to function its own way without much interference

    It's no brainer for volvo to ditch ICE, when you remove ICE from the front of the car it gets way more crumble zone compared to ICE cars as well as the battery being so low to the ground gives extra ordinary low center of gravity for EVs which prevents roll over.

    good and respectable job biturbo bhai! a very interesting insight on the ethics of volvo. i sometimes think that the current govt of india or any responsible auto company of india should acquire the brand volvo and allow them to innovate as they have been doing all these years. huge respect for Volvo. just imagine if they would have patented the 3 point seat belt tech, how much money would they have made. thanks to volvo for not doing that

    you can't compare TATA WITH VOLVO. TATA can't make decent reliable cars, so they targeted safety over reliability. TATA can't make complete car on their own. Engine, transmisson, platform all are purchased or inherited from other brands.
