I think low maintenance cost is also a major concern here. People don't prefer buying famous brands ie; Mercedes and BMW because ownership cost is also high. On the other hand Toyota's after sale services are cheaper than the German brands. I agree with the reliability factor. Toyota means reliability.

Truth is none of these are Full sive SUVs, they are Mid size. Full size SUVs are Escalade, Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, Land Cruiser, GMC Yukon etc.......

Fortuner is like royal enfield makes the owner feel powerful, comfortable, safe, great brand and resale value has a great mechanical feel very reliable and easy to maintain even if u don't have Toyota service center near by any mechanic can fix it.

Toyota cars are reliable while the RE bikes are famous for being unreliable. Only thing common between the two is that they are both overpriced and don't offer features for their price.
I used to get that feel for Mitsubishi Pajero. Back when it was new here in India that car was one of the rarest and you only associated it with the rich elites.

@@krishnaSagar69 yea but fortuner has always been more popular and it came in an era when people had much better spending potential on average. Pajero was super rare to see on the streets. There were not that many people with that kind of spending potential on a car back then which made that factor even higher for it. Considering the economy of that era it was super expensive as compared to the debut of fortuner. I have barely seen a pajero like twice or thrice in my whole life.

if its under XUV lineup its bound to be hyped so could actually work but would be very expensive as to justify the name they would have to give more tech than XUV 700
My father still uses the first gen fortuner.....2009 model it's a great car
Same story in Pakistan, its very popular, I think it started off at a price of 80 lakh and now I think the price is 1.2 crore or there abouts. They are assembling the car in Karachi but i think the drive train comes from Thailand still.

Skoda should offer it in India with diesel engine like they do in Europe and other places. Diesel power is still the most popular option for full size SUVs here, idk what Skoda and VW was thinking when they decided to launch their premium SUVs without TDI.

I think Mitsubishi Pajero is best competitor of Fortuner. In 2011- 2012 Pajero seen in many movies as a branded SUV.
Fortuner legender retails for 1.5 crore in Pakistan.. and its still the best selling vehicle in its class…. Car had launched at 35lakhs in early 2010s

Mahindra thar has some sentiments in people’s mind as of Fortuner. Not exactly same though.
Its true sir rising tax in India , before a scooty cost rs 68,000 yamaha , now it costs 1 lac 14 thousand rupees.
That's why competition is necessary in market, when Ford exit from Indian market monopoly started,, the price straight up from 10 to 15% on ex showroom price ❤❤ i agree Fortuner is love but it is the competition that benifits customers. 👍👍
CORRECTION- In the year 2009, there was no automatic 4X4 Fortuner. there was only 1 model, and that was 4X4 Fulltime 4WD, Manual.
You can't file your nomination as a candidate in state assembly and national assembly unless you have Fortuner. It's a eligibility criteria outside the purview of constitution.
Cant it be that the fortuner price is high in India than other markets because of additional taxes like CESS for higher engine volume

It's absolutely thorough Explanation......... 😊 I wanna add something more..... We are paying huge 18 lakh just tax purpose only. In top of model of fortuner, company would earn 50k out of 50 lakhs. It was because of heavy usage of politician and having government vehicles. The services cost is too low. If tata and mahindra locally manufacture the full size SUV. This will have affected fortuner sales. Gloster couldn't compete with fortuner because you wouldn't feel the turbo which fortuner gives. Every terrain condition performance of fortuner will be too smooth & it can go on and on. Gloster is for those who want the car with "uncle feel". ( Nice and sounds like electric )

Can you give a link where it states Toyota earns only 50k per Fortuner sold? I highly doubt this. No company is saint that they keep their margin so low, that too when the car is in very high demand.

The cars of Our PM & other important minister's of our country are chosen by NSG they take care of logistics and supply of these vehicles & they choose what car is safe to travel that's why never go for Mahindra or tata , as they are not at that level of safety and security.
