Quality anyway used to be better before and the styling imo also was better, prices have dropped down to the point of being on the bottom of the depreciation curve. As per the Indian government rules,, all automative companies should improve mileage every year to the number of cars they sell or else they will have big fines. That is why every year a company will launch a facelift and claim big milage. Toyota had no options other than selling rebranded cars of Maruti. Every car brand in India is facing this issue.

Many thanks for your analyses. You are right about Toyota, which I used in the ME for a long time. It is reliable, economical and for the price range compared, good enough. They have premium models as well which we dont see here in India, and I bet they are great cars. Eg RAV=4, and going higher up to the more premium ones , known by another name Lexus.. super cars! But I highly deplore the Indian Govts' attitude on car sales in India by their exhorbitant taxes. So also their ever deplorable import policies.. depriving the Indian public of using even used car imports from other countries! We are really unfortunate being Indians that way. Yet, we are saare jahanse acha... ha ha..

Just for sedan csrs in India below is an example for Suzuki/Toyota/Honda/Hyundai: A segemnt - Dzire/××/Amaze/Xcent B segemnt - Ciaz/Yaris/City/Verna/ C segment - ××/Altis/Civic/Elantra D segment - ××/Camry/Accord/Sonata

Their cars are reliable because they're parts binned and use many common parts . That's why they dont launch new models very often . It's their core ideology . Fakeer brands like Chutiyati Suzuki can afford to do it because they do cost cutting on their already cheap shit boxes.
