    You're not alone with your preferences. Also, it shouldn't be called a "infotainment system". It is a user interface for very important features of the car, not so much "entertainment". This is a good video with regards to you talking about what's actually good and bad about it - according to a regular user and driver.

    Your list of good, bad & ugly is spot on, as an owner of a C40 I can confirm everything you said. I am glad the good things far out-weight the bad things. The car is a thing of beauty. The one ugly thing, the price, that's just something I have to live with :D

    Yeah, I'm a huge fan of both XC40 and C40. Awesome cars, but the price have just went to far..

    I previously had an XC40 and now have a C40. The one thing I miss on the C40 is the lack of a rear screen wiper - it’s ok when you go faster, but in town in the rain it’s often difficult to see what is behind. The one thing I would also ask Volvo to look at is to increase the number of functions available to voice control (which is very good on this car).

    Yeah, definitely see your point there. Personally for me I hardly use the inner rear mirror/window in the C40, because of the very limited view out.. but would definitely appreciate a rear wiper. .

    This is true but you could mitigate the lack of a wiper by putting a glass coating on the rear windshield. I used Gyeon's glass coating on all my C40's glass and it works amazingly. Water just falls off and you never feel the need to have wipers.

    Agree re infotainment. I have an MY 24 XC60 Black Edition and a Skoda Enyaq. The latter’s screen is so much easier to use as it’s bigger, better positioned (although initially Imdid not like the screen jutting out of the dashboard) and has shortcut buttons. Very easy to use. I love the XC though!!

    Physical buttons don't belong to the past! I have never heard anyone actually liking the touch screen only approach. Luckily, "Euro NCAP will introduce new testing rules in 2026 that require vehicles to have physical controls to earn the highest safety score." - Great news, so physical buttons are definitely not a thing of the past.

    Yeah, that's really great news. Some functions shouldn't be buried in a touchscreen. So great to see NCAP stepping up and demanding some physical buttons.

    I‘m looking forward the first real review of the digital mirror if it is worth to upgrade. Also would like to know if the performance upgrade with permanent 4WD is really nessesary (maybe more worth in Nordic countries in winter). I tested a lot of electric cars, before I bought my C40 Twin MY24 Ultra 2 months ago, and I love it. It has much better price/value/ benefits against other cars like Mercedes, Audi, Skoda, BMW. Maybe Telsa is more efficient and cheaper, but useability? Only compareable EV is Polestar 2 from pov, but more expensive, at least in my country. I prefer the higher seating position and the design of the C40. I like your reviews, Kristian!

    As your daily is a XC40, how does the cabin noise compare to the XC40 at high speed? I've only had a short play with the C40 and not done any motorway driving in it.

    I have the XC40 Twin First Edition 2021 because I can load the back and put roof bars on easily. It has been excellent and I agree with what you say. No car is perfect. But, I lease and have to replace it this year. The new lease costs puts the EX40 quite high now - almost in the IPace area. So I've been looking around and you start to relise the XC40 does a lot of things automatically that others don't. I like the EX30 for comfort & performance but the driver interaction is terrible, as you say, and there seems to be post delivery issues. For far less money the Renault Megane E-Tech just about does it all as it should be and even in deep metallic red.

  • @volvo_kristian

    Yeah, the E-Tech delivers a pretty appealing package. Especially if you don't need AWD. So see your point there.

    Absolutely SPOT ON! EX40/EC40 needs to get an interior facelift on the same level as EX90 with HUD display and big center screen and new dashboard, led lights etc etc. New seat options etc etc. The midrange (most selling) is still OLD, and really a shame considering they are more expensive than EX30. Speaking of which, will the EX30 Cross Country get a hud display option ;) and WHEN does it come out!?

    Yeah. Outside the car is beautiful , inside is so 2015. Horrible

    A couple problems not listed. You may not have encountered them, though many others have reported. 1. Vibration felt in steering wheel above 100km/h 2. Clicking/Scraping noises from drivetrain during acceleration Good videos though. I enjoy your feed

    Correct. Haven't encountered them. Volvo have improved their cars all the way. I know about the vibration issue, and that several have gotten it fixed lately. But personally I've never experienced it myself. And wasn't any issue on this MY24 presscar

    Another good video, thanks. Volvo has always built boxy thirsty cars, so nothing new there. But you can solve the color yourself with wrapping..unfortunately. But wonderful car. Nothing new that Volvos are expensive, but it is too much money.

    I get an average between 15 and 18 kWh with my EX30 SMER Plus, depends on average speed and temperature. Great results in my opinion. So it must be your right foot/driving style/weather circumstances or combination of all. 🙂

  • @volvo_kristian

    @volvo_kristian

    There's many factors that impact consumption. I've also seen numbers down to like 16 kWh with the Single Motor EX30, but that doesn't change the fact, or my claim, that the EX30 doesn't have a efficient powertrain. I've driven over 4.000 km with the EX30. Here in Norway, at the end of winter. And I've seen much lower consumption, in worst/colder environments, when I tested the Model 3 Highland.. I've posted several range tests with the EX30, if you haven't seen them Obviously the right foot plays a part, but so do 15 other elements. Either way it can't compete on efficency when comparing it against the model 3. Sadly..

  • @mikaelskoglund373
    @mikaelskoglund3732 ай бұрын

    As expensive as a Polestar 4. If I had that much money, I'd probably rather choose it. Much better infotaimant and more modern.

  • @volvo_kristian

    Yeah, maybe there's a price overlap here. However if you start ticking some boxes the Polestar 4 are going much higher.

    You are not alone. Real buttons and knobs for the Win! But i tend to like the new rear-view mirror camera more than old scool dirt and wet - rear window - it is useless on our nordic winter roads
