Volkswagen Up! GTI Detail after 4000 miles across Europe 4K

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I recently travelled to and from Hungary with my Volkswagen Up! GTI covering roughly 4000 miles in not a lot of time so I thought it was time for a proper clean and since I didn't see any detailing videos featuring an Up! GTI I thought I'd actually record my efforts.
This video will be uploaded in 4K however, it will take a while for KZread to process it.

I enjoyed this video. I also have an Up GTI. I love it. Fast enough, fun and not expensive to run. You have a nice colour too.

Yes I do love the Tungsten silver, I think it’s one of the best colours especially with the black roof and the carbon mirror covers I installed. And yeah this is a great car, daily driver for me. Mine has a Forge induction kit, a Racingline turbo elbow and a map from JBS so instead of the factory 113bhp, it’s putting out 150bhp and 240nm of torque so it’s much quicker than standard and still gets well over 50mpg average.

How was the trip with the little car? I'm thinking of getting a TSI in Germany and driving to Eastern Europe (20hrs)

It was actually surprisingly comfortable. Not noisy at all for what it is. Plenty of room. And this particular one is now packing 150hp and 250nm of torque so even on the autobahn, it is absolute fine and doesn’t behave like a small hatchback. We were very impressed with it and would do the trips again. Fuel consumption was also excellent. Around 4.5 litres / 100km or around 55-60mpg which I think is pretty impressive especially given that in Germany we were averaging around 100-110mph (around 160-180kph).

Don't clean your rear rims with expensive rim cleaner! You have drum brakes so NO brake dust. Cleaning with water or APC is fine and will save you some money

There is still some brake dust and also other bits of contamination. When you drive in wet weather, all sorts of road grime gets deposited on the rear wheels the same way as the fronts therefore it is worth using a wheel cleaning solution as water will not get any of that off. You mentioned water or APC but those two are not the same, so I wouldn't say use either water or APC. APC can of course be used when cleaning wheels which aren't heavily soiled but wheel cleaner always tends to do the best job. Also the wheel cleaner I have was fairly cheap and it is still non acidic so I would just rather use it all around as it makes very little difference in terms of how much money I'd save. I think if the car was being professionally washed and you saw them cheaping out on wheel cleaner just because you've got drum brakes at the back then I think you'd feel slightly annoyed, or maybe that's just me. Plus it's just nice to follow the same routine all round and APC tends to dry a bit quicker compared to my wheel cleaner so it's not very brush friendly.

Missed quite a few bits actually ;) Love the car, I have one, and the colour on this one, mine is white sadly. I think the 5-door looks better than the 3-door tbh.
