I think it’s because he honestly likes metal. She isn’t the first screamer he’s reacted to, and he appreciated the work that goes into doing it well. And he’s also really great for providing information about how things are done - why they’re done well or not, and when he does critique, he’s never negative. Seriously, he reacted to and critiqued a video of the worst Idol performances. Never once did he get negative or mean, but he did provide helpful critiques. He’s by far the best vocal coach reacting on KZread. I’d love to have him as my voice teacher. I know he’d never be negative or mean about anything.

At times I think she's great, but to my ear she does way too much of the easy sounding, low effort harsh vocals. It's probably just a tolerance I've built up, but if I don't hear the strain it doesn't do it for me. I love the desperate sound when a vocalist puts everything they have into it. Caro from Oathbreaker is a good example of a female vocalist who does this.

You know what Sam? I've watched an uncountable amount of music reaction videos with and without vocal coaches/singer songwriters and I feel that I just have to say this. You are the King of really nailing every nuance of what the singer is doing, the reason they are doing it, how they could improve and why. Not only that your also very solid, consistent and consistently honest while maintaining a wonderful gentlemanly humbleness about yourself that few people have. I wish you continued success in any endeavor in your future. Just a really great job man. Really great. Keep up the good work! If I ever needed a vocal coach (which I definitely would need ) or referred one, it would and will be you for sure. Thanks for the vid man. Not a huge fan of growling. But really like the bands musicality. Plus for some unknown reason, I'm totally crushing on her like a 3rd grader. Haha ^!^ Thanks again Sam. Peace to you and everyone you love.

I knew from your comments on the female metal singers expectations vs reality that you would probably enjoy this. I couldn't give away the harsh vocals because it's always fun to see a genuine reaction to those. Since you wanted to hear a female singer who sings harsh vocals sing clean ones also and the fact that she goes a lil bit higher in the end kinda fitted what you asked. She has complete control of her voice and I respect, admire and am entertained by that. I catch myself smiling when I hear this song. There are a few other Jinjer songs that I also similarly enjoy. Well, the part of my brain where speech is being controlled is not okay. That part of my head is what sometimes has a short circuit which leads to epileptic seizures. If my brain can not properly estimate what is coming (for example, a transition in speeding up the rhythm, increasing the volume), then it gets confused. I do not get an seizure but feel very bad for a while. My brain shuts of a little, different kind of awareness/consciousness until everything is settled down again. I might stare for a while, words are hard to find. People with epilepsy can be triggered by flashy images. I have this more with sound. For example, I can handle the intensity of Chop Suey because my brain knows what is coming. But when this girl all of a sudden started growling my brain got confused. But it went all right! I did stop the video just in case, but I was proud of my brain. Hard-core, some heavy metal is just not do-able. I used Google translate to explain. I hope you understand.

LOL Your eyebrows nearly raised clean off your forehead @ 1:48 , swiftly followed by the "I've been had" smile a couple of seconds later- Awesome response. I love this track. Which is saying something, as I tend to be old-school in demanding to be able to hear lyrics. It's an interesting modern variation on the quiet-loud-quiet Pixies, Nirvana etc theme in my book. The musicians do a great job delivering feel & dynamics on both sides of that coin, & the fact she sings well means I'm subconsciously forgiving the growls I reckon! Super job again, young Master Johnson. :)

To keep that shock going, watch all the Jinjer Pisces Live session REACTIONS. Some are 'meh', but when you get to see someone ELSE have that same shocked/chills reaction....you get to experience all over again :)

Gotta be "she burned me down" for the lows. Good vocal range, not their best song tho.

There's really not much trickery with Pete's vocals. He has a naturally deep voice. The "I hate the morning" section of "Haunted", holy cow. I envision the entire Earth rumbling every time I hear it.

First of all, you look amazing with the new hair! And I have heard a lot about this band (being a metal head myself) and now I can appreciate it, I was NOT expecting her to do growls, happily surprised.

This must be one of the most controlled reactions to Pisces that I have seen! Knowing the song I was just waiting to see your reaction to it :) Your channel must be one of the best suggestions I have had on KZread for such a long time! While I have never considered myself to have an interest in vocals, just watching your videos and seeing how passionate and excited you are about what you teach made me subscribe instantly. I love that you also analyse such a diverse range of artists and music as well. So I want to say thank you for sharing your knowledge with us in such an uplifting and constructive way, you have definitely made me want to learn more. As a voice teacher I would love to hear your analysis of Florence and the Machine in the future. Keep doing what you are doing, and take care!
