I feel that the proudest thing one can do as a vocalist is shock Sam Johnson. I feel like most people, even other vocal coaches, watching singers are like "Wow!" on so many parts. Meanwhile Sam is like "Ok cool, so this is what he's doing...". Dude has definitely seen A LOT of singing in his time.

The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental Arab technique (or traditional cazaq singing, called Joqtaw), is a funeral lament, paying homage to the dead vocalist: Brilliant! The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio. The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebyev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

the style that you like is from central Asia. Harmonic chant or difonic chant, Consists of a sound reverberation (generated between the pharynx and the mouth) that produces two or more simultaneous sounds with a slight variation (around a harmonic). In some cases, this variation can be modulated independently. Who do it until today are the Mongols and if it is too hard to do, I really love your analysis and seriousness. Thank you!

@@rihannas8734 - those songs are not public, they are performed by a close circle of friends and relatives at funerals only, usually at the deceased person's home, before bringing the body to a graveyard. They are not just singing but crying too, so taking shots or video recording is considered a rude behavior and disrespectful to the deceased person and mourning people. So it would be really hard or impossible to find any in the public domain. Sorry, couldn't help you here.

Since watching your reaction videos I’ve started to listen for the technique, the choices that artists have chosen to convey and “color” their music. Here’s a dimash performance in China that I bet nobody has watched or seen or reacted to unless you read Chinese. It’s hard for his American or Uk fans to access because the title is in Chines, but I figured it out and now you can watch the best Dimash performance ever. I’ve watched over 50 Dimash performances and I can tell you that this ranks ( with me) as his best. The outpouring of emotions is beyond amazing-not from this earth, not from this planet, not from this galaxy.. but somewhere celestial where the angels reside. Please KZread ( In This Exact Sequence) : “Dimash 20170610 oppo” It’s the first one with Chinese lettering a little over 6 minute. You will thank me for finding this rare one and reacting.

Soooooo much to say.... 1. I got this notification while I was at work today and saw right away *Sam* and *Dimash* and damn it I don't get wifi in my office so I had to wait HOURRRRSS to watch this. 2. Sam, I agree with everything you are saying about chest v. head/falsetto when applied to us normal humans. But Dimash is not of this world, you see? You even pointed it out in his SOS video when he managed to glissando up an octave and pull back on his volume, which is the diametric opposite tendency of the human voice. Dimash can do things that the rest of us cannot LOL. 3. 9:57 see number two.
