Vocal Coach Reacts (1st time) to DIMASH - 'SOS dun terrien en détresse'

Hello Singderellos
In this video I react to a fully mindblowing performance of 'SOS dun terrien en détresse' by a potnetial alien called Dimash Kudaibergen. Probably the most incredible singer technique wise I have EVER heard. In this video, I am watching this performance for the very first time and I analyse his performance and vocal technique.
For lessons, workshops and video submissions please check out my website www.thefairyvoicemother.com
I'm so excited to be a part of your singing journey, It's one that truly never ends.
Love you forever,

I enjoyed your reaction and comments. Dimash was 22 in this performance and a wild card on the Singer which is a competition for professional singers. At the time he was the youngest ever contestant and the first non-Chinese contestant. They didn’t expect him to go past the first show so he performed first. He became an overnight sensation in China. He won the round as well as his second round with Opera 2 a Vitas cover and he later won the round he sang Adagio in. He came in second overall. He is now 26 and has a huge fan base around the world called Dears(as in dear to his heart). He sings pretty much any genre but neo-classical or pop-opera is a niche of sorts. He loves blending everything from opera, jazz, traditional Kazakh music and more into a song to express his feelings. He is from Kazakhstan and speaks both Kazakh and Russian. He is getting more fluent in English by the day. During the singer he could basically say hello, goodbye and thank you. Which when you watch English songs especially early on is noticeable. He is also learning Mandarin.

He, like Angelina has been brought up singing since a very young child and training 5-6 hrs a day. Both parent are singers. He speaks several languages. He also plays several instruments, Including a couple that are known to be originated from the Kazakhstan area. Very unusual yet beautiful sounds. I'm a 55 year old man and I cried like a baby the first time I heard/watched that performance. I subscribed as I'm looking forward to seeing your journey with this amazing singer. His (vocalise) performance from the Arnau concert of "Know" is a favorite. And for full all out crying again, "Daybreak", but you need to read the back story of the song. Dimash really lives and encapsulates the lyrics of every song he performs. Discovering Dimash is one of the few things that made 2020 not completely rotten to the core. Enjoy!

Thank you for this brilliant technical analysis! Dimash is an alien hybrid from Kazakhstan, singing in French, on a Chinese TV show. Because that's just how he rolls. We (minions of Dimash) are accustomed to seeing vocal coaches of varying expertise analyze Dimash on youtube. Some of them are very well-trained, credentialed professionals, some of them not so much. Your analysis was top tier, and so enjoyable to hear. You explained a lot of Dimash's techniques beautifully and perfectly. I hope you'll do more analysis of Dimash. You won't be listening to his music on the radio or seeing him often on Western television, but this artist's fan base is larger and more loyal than some of the most famous and international pop stars. People will fight you online if you pronounce the wrong name, your fans will spend hours watching your videos, opening fan clubs around the world and leaving long comments on KZread with the story of each song. They are obstinate and well prepared. My question was necessary at this point. What made these people so close to him, and what does he have that other artists don't? He doesn't need paid advertising because his fans will do it for free. They genuinely love this artist so much that they want to make him known at all costs. Some claim he provides them to overcome depression, others say he has changed their lives with his music, some fans even believe he is an angel or a superhuman. If you send in that Michael Jackson had some diehard fans, Dimash fans, who call themselves Dears, are clearly above them all. As soon as I heard his voice, I was immediately impressed in 2017. No wonder his fans are obsessed, his voice is incredible and, at first glance, he also seemed like a very humble person. The 26-year-old Kazakhstan artist reached stardom for the first time after participating in some national competitions and spreading his fame abroad, taking second place in the Chinese program - I Am A Singer 2017-. In this show, he was the youngest participant to compete against established and professional Chinese artists. One of the songs I heard him sing was a popular "S.O.S d'un terrien en détresse". A French song by Daniel Balavoine. I was immediately impressed by his incredible technique and delivery. His vocal training is formally classic, but he can sing pop songs extremely well. Your choice of original songs and covers is never obvious and always leaves the listener in awe. What shocks me the most is the use of the vocal fry technique. He manages to hit super low notes and jump to highs so perfectly, without ever failing. Above all, the most impressive feature of his voice is the use of the "whistle". I never heard a man use this technique before Dimash. Sorry Mariah, but her whistles are incredible. You just need to listen to his songs for yourself, because it is impossible to explain this talent with words. His vocal range is incredible. Its length is 6 octaves and 5 semitones, ranging from a low A1 to an incredible D8. Observing this, the highest note male record is an F # 8 and Dimash is only 3 semitones from him, I wonder if one day he would try to beat the record. Another thing that caught my attention, was the perfect pitch always impeccable . He is probably the only singer who has never been challenged on any score, which is why many people have given the nickname "Alien". But impeccable technique and interpretation are not Dimash's only qualities. We learned about his humanity at the -Best show in the world-, a reality show competition, where he competed in 2019. After a few episodes, when Dimash learned that he needed to compete with the kids, he decided to give up. He explained to the crowd that he was unaware of any competition with children when he signed the contract, and such an action would have been against his morale. Incredibly, that explanation was not included in the broadcast episode, which left us perplexed after listening to RuPaul, or I must call it the "Paul Rude" explosion. Dimash's resignation was, in my opinion, an altruistic and humble act. It takes a great man to give up his dreams to maintain his integrity, and that is what we saw in this incredible artist. The American show increased the popularity of the Kazakh singer abroad, so much so that one of his songs, in Kazakh language, debuted on MTV USA in October 2020. The love for his country and his honesty are always visible in all his performances. Each of his concerts always includes cultural aspects related to his country, such as the use of private instruments for accompaniment or traditional clothing and singing styles. I think the choice to sing in your native language was anything but casual. I believe that one of his goals is to increase the popularity and recognition of his country. After gathering my thoughts, I realized that I was right about my assumptions. Your last Instagram post just mentioned: It is necessary to understand that I have become who I am now, mainly thanks to Kazakhstan. Because I grew up in Kazakhstan, I ate Kazakh dishes, I studied with a Kazakh vocal educator, I was raised in a Kazakh family. And the main stimulus that moves me is my nation and my country! After all, I think we have now answered my previous question. What made this artist so close to his fans? And what does he have that others don't? An incredible voice is not enough today. Social media has brought artists closer to their audience, who want to make sure that whoever is following is someone to relate to. Artists like Dimash tend to gain millions of followers around the world, not only for their talent, which is definitely the main reason, but also for their humility and the way they interact with others. When people feel closer to an artist, they tend to want to know more about him. Dimash is talented enough, mysterious enough and, at the same time, so realistic that he could easily be your next-door neighbor. In a world where talent and simplicity often go hand in hand, Dimash is a real pleasure for everyone. For these reasons, I became a fan of the artist, not only admiring his art and technique, but also applauding a way he is dealing with his success. Greetings from Portugal

Thank you so much!🤗 A few small points though, for the sake of accuracy (being the nerd Dear that I am!)... we don't call *ourselves* "Dears", it was Dimash who named us, as we are "dear" to his heart like family... the name of that awful show that disrespected our Dimash so terribly, was "The World's Best"... that indeed, Dimash's infamous D8 was close to the world record, but what was completely unprecedented was that it was as part of a *live* *performance* and not a studio... and though you are correct that his training was mainly primarily classical and the subject of his first university degree, his pop skills were actually honed whilst studying for a second degree, this time in Contemporary Music Vocals - before moving on to ace his Master's in Vocal Composition, and currently work towards his Doctorate! All on top of (USUALLY!😭) touring the world and racking up a crazy amount of air miles, practicing his vocals for three hours a day, learning English as his third language (he's fluent in both Kazakh and Russian) and doing his best (though struggling a LOT!) with Mandarin Chinese, providing various OSTs for movies, TV shows and video games, recording a hit album that went triple platinum in a matter of minutes with another album currently in production, and winning several trophy cupboards' worth of prestigious awards in both pop *and* classical categories... etc, etc, etc - yup, I'm definitely guilty as charged!😉😆 Sending much love to you, from a UK Dear :) 🤗😘❤🇬🇧

Get the heart monitor.... ive been watching reactions, breakdowns and introductions to Dimash for nearly 4 years. Loved the breakdown but you havent seen anything yet. Subbed to see more. Sinful passion, love is like a dream, Ogni Pietra, hello, unforgettable day (Gakku), and Daybreak (Bastau)-look for Gloria Wu's behind the story version. That is a solid start, each will give you something different qnd by far not the end. Welcome to the wonderful journey of becoming a Dear.

Great first time reaction to Dimash. He is a phenomenon. He is everything in one beautiful package. He is also a humanitarian and most humble person. Greetings from a Dimash dear (fan) in Texas, USA. Also, there are other amazing singers on Singer show in China to be introduced to. For now, more Dimash, please.
