I always love your reaction videos for Angelina. Nobody else gives the detailed analysis that you do. Angelina is actually only 11 in this one (christmas 2017). She has so many more songs for you to check out. Can't wait to see you do some of the recommendations that were given in your previous videos. Just one note: There are literally hundreds videos of Angelina on youtube, and many of them are going to be fancam with poor audio. If you just try to go pick one at random, it may not be good quality (video/audio ...never her vocals). Her fans will always point you to the ones with the best quality. But if you ever start to run out, I have plenty for you ;) I look forward to seeing you do more Angelina!

Another voice coach who has reacted to Angelina several times said she is already a Jazz Diva at 10 years old. Your comment that she sings in the moment as she feels it, is totally on point. She never seems to sing a song the same way twice. She changes it to fit with a big band, or a 4-piece jazz band, acoustic guitar or piano. Even with the same backing, she will change the song somewhat in each performance. Many other singers memorize a song & they can sing it the same way over & over again. Angelina either can't do that or she doesn't want to (probably the latter). I've seen a couple of videos where Angelina is trying to sing with her own backing track & it didn't work because that "other Angelina" on tape was singing it different. You talk a lot about her negative space & the best example of that is "Wicked Games" she did at 12. It's just Angelina playing piano with a slide show of her photos. It is totally stripped down with massive negative space where you are waiting for the note & when it comes it tears at your heart strings. It's hauntingly beautiful & another voice coach said about her performance that "sometimes less is better." Her emotive skills are unmatched IMO. Her fanclub Mosarz recently uploaded a rehearsal video from a couple of years ago where she sang "If You Go Away." I have never seen anyone & I mean anyone, sing with such emotion. The song is about a woman's lover leaving her because she is pregnant. If you can get through that one without crying like a baby, you are a stronger person than me. I hope you will give both a listen as I would love to hear your analyses. I just love your reactions to Angelina. I hope you & your family have a wonderful holiday & new year.

I appreciate the time and attention you've devoted to my favorite singer ever. I mean, it's one thing to be compared to any great singer past or current, like a Mariah Carey, but it's another thing entirely to be compared to a whole slew of them like Angelina has. ( Amy Winehouse, Adele, Lana del Rey, Billie Holliday, etc.) Artists spanning the decades, and all of this before the age of 14. I am not aware of any other singer who can glide from genre to genre while making it look effortless like AJ does. What an absolute gourmet dessert for the ears!

She always has the soulful, jazz “old soul” feel to her songs when she sings. I loved this version! (I wish the Guitar was not so loud) I think she is performing on the AGT not as a contestant but I could be wrong. Than you for your reaction and yes, please do more if Angelina. She is unique at 13!

@@stillracer2514 Actually, they send 4 forward each night. One golden buzzer (straight to the finals I think), one judges choice to the semi's, and two super fans choices to the semi's.

Damn, Valerie, you are so good. I've learned so much by listening to your breakdown of various approaches to singing. All the things I see in Angelina are made tangible by listening to your explanation of what she is doing. Of course, I love Angelina, and I've watched and listened to everything she has performed multiple times. But after listening to you breakdown what she is actually doing, I'm so much more in tune to things like jazz phrasing, negative space, tempo, etc. I even feel more in touch with where she is going when she closes her eyes while singing. No one gives the in depth analysis that you do, and I thank you for that. I first heard Angelina a couple of years ago when she did an audition on a singing contest. She performed Billie Holiday's Gloomy Sunday and I was really amazed at such a tender age she has that natural vocals for jazz. I hope she continues on that path. On a side note, speaking about the song she just did, Morissette Amon had covered that song numerous times and it was in the Marian Carey style, and maybe you could also get to react on her latest take on this.

Merry Christmas, Valerie. You just put words to how I feel when listening to Angelina, her choice of music and way of singing.There were no musical education in my past, only my ears and what I like. Angelinas voice and her way of singing got me from the first time I heard her singing at norway got talent. She will be a star on her own without Simon Cowell or others like him, but it is still her own choice. There will probaly be many great artists/composers who gladly will support her in the years to come. That's win win situation for everybody. Even for me when enjoying and feeling her music

Valerie, even though the audio & video quality is not great, you were spot on in your analysis. I believe this is a fan cam from her Christmas 2017 concert tour, so she was not quite 12. Her fanclub Mosarz(i.e. Grandma) is uploading everything but the kitchen sink over the last 6 months, but unfortunately she isn't including the original recording date. We have to figure out the recording date based on her appearance & knowledge of her various concerts. I believe this massive release of older videos that previously didn't make the cut, is the lead up to Angelina's breakout on AGT Champions 2 & the release of a second album in the near future. This is just my speculation, but if true it's brilliant. Rusty Shackelford's "Through the Years" listing of Angelina's videos is chronological, so recent recordings are at the bottom of the list.

Of course, she already has been under the cloud of a Cowell contract, having won Norske Talenter 2014, which is one from his stable of shows. You're right, it has probably held her back in some ways, but the positives maybe outweigh the negatives.

The sound mix favoured the Jazz guitar (again!) but al the same this was an impressive vocal. After several listens the vocalisation seems more plausible as the original version, as if a version sang by the original singer. That is Angelina's unique gift, she takes on the era of the song as well as the vocal persona of the singer, and their voice becomes hers.

Angelina is a smart young lady... I'm sure she has her purpose of joining the competition. And I believe her goal is not really to win it but of something more important to her journey. And I also believe that Simon Cowell is not part of any of it.😉

I believe Angelina is pursuing a bigger following in the USA. AGT is just the start. I think she may have an album coming out.
