I like how they call it a "suitcase turntable" even though it's not even remotely similar to a suitcase. And they might as well not even bother putting woodgrain on the bottom, considering how tacky it looks to have the grain pattern mismatched like that. But I'm surprised to see it has an AM/FM radio tuner. So many of these all-in-one devices are dropping the AM tuner and now have FM only, or no radio tuner at all. And here's how to calibrate your tracking force scale with the 5 gram weight: 1. Press and hold the Mode button until the display shows CAL and 5.000 (flashing). 2. Place the 5g weight on the center of the platform. After approximately 5 seconds the display will read 5.000, PASS and 5.000. 3. Remove the weight and turn off the scale.

Yeah, last fall I bought a Sony receiver/amp and immediately regretted it as it lacked AM and had Sony's dinky little antenna two-pin plug. I gave it to a friend and bought an Onkyo TX-8220 as it has AM and FM and standard coax jack for the FM antenna and spring clips for an external AM antenna. Both receivers/amps have dedicated jacks and ground screw for phono mode with an internal preamp.
Looks like contact paper to me.

Sure does
I am so glad you do this because we,consumers, can weed out the ones we like 👍 thank you.
On the Amazon page for this device, there actually is a suitcase player available as one of the different "colors." That probably explains why the box says "suitcase player" on it. Such a shame how they cheapened out on the mechanism as this unit is very attractive-looking
I like the addition of the radio tuner. So many of these are just record player and BT. It's nice to see something a little different.
If those air bubbles trapped under the wrap are pierced with a needle or pin, they can then be pressed flat.
LIKE number 3 which I did with glee. :)
I had to laugh when you pointed out that the mfg. listed "good workmanship" on the box. When something like that is listed on the packaging as a feature, that should set off alarm bells. Which once you showed the unit it confirmed that simply is not an honest statement. The defect in the wood veneer just shouldn't be there on a brand new product. Plus the fact that the TT speed was not accurately set at the factory. I don't think the manufacturers of these kind of units are even making any adjustments with their quality control process. The least these companies could do is verify and adjust the TT speed. I have often wondered if these manufacturers accept defective returns from those that retail these types of units. If they do, I would bet they get them back by the pallet load. When may not be a real issue for them since they are made for pennies on the dollar.
There is no problem in it trying to imitate woodgrain. The thing is that they didn’t do it right… that looks like a cheap contact paper, and it’s bubbled up right out of the box!
If it is truly a wood veneer you can probably get the bubbled up area stuck back down by taking a clothes iron and a dish towel and placing the towel over the bubbled veneer and then ironing down the veneer as it should have a glue backing that activates when it is heated. I worked for Kimball Office Casegoods for a few years and that's what we would do to veneer that had bubbled up like that.
The 45 adapter looks more like Easter than Christmas, with it's pink and apple green.
When I was a little kid AM sounded much better than it does now because there is just so much electronic interference now as opposed to then. Every wall wart, computer, CFL and LED lights all put out noise that interferes with AM reception. Now, if I go out in my back yard and run an AM radio back there on batteries it will sound great, but I live in a fairly rural area and there isn't anything within range to interfere with the reception then. It even sounds good plugged in to an extension cord running to an outlet in the garage as there isn't anything in the garage that would cause noise interference that would be on when I'm not using it.
It certainly looks cool and I thought the sound quality off the disc was quite good (if you accept the almost complete lack of bass)
Good workmanship? That's weird to list. Nice video! Happy Holidays from IOWA!!

What good workmanship? The OEM left bubbles in the Mac Tac and couldn't be bothered to properly dial in the speed, yet has the nerve to penalize any user who does so by voiding the warranty.
If you lift it up from the front, it sorta looks like a briefcase without a handle
I'll still with my two 1200s
this did not sound bad for a ceramic it was pretty much full just the workman ship there was none at all the covering shouldnot bubble like that imagine in a couple of years how that will peel off
Hey it would be good for a young kid or teenager just starting out for vinyl!
Informative. Looking for a turntable as a gift and this was helpful. By the way, the name McLeod is said McCloud. Tip o'the day.

Really….thanks for the tip!
Yet another product of Shenzhen Skywin Electronics Co. Ltd.
I bought this but the sound of the record is extremely low. But connected to Bluetooth it works great. Not sure what's wrong with it.
Record-ology put a record on the turntable ---then put the strobe disc on top to test speed.

That’s an interesting idea
My daughter was given this model but when you drop the tone arm it skates across whatever record she puts on it. Any suggestions as it doesn't have a weight adjuster?

Have you made sure the white stylus guard has been removed?

@@Recordology yes that was removed. I guess it's just a duff unit. I did contemplate trying a blob of what we call Blue Tack in the UK just to give it some downward weight onto the tone arm. It is out of guarantee so it can't be returned unfortunately.
Mr Record-Ology it’s pronounced Kevin McLeod is pronounced Kevin McCloud!!
I don't think people are interested in the radio.
