It needs a display so you can see what track is playing, whether you are in cd or usb mode, etc. Nice, but a rather confusing device to navigate.

Maybe rather than "reecord" mode it's actually "reckord" mode meaning playing a CD simulates playing an actual record.

Well that's a pleasant surprize!! I always wanted to make a diy cd player like this but with real wood and some tall legs like the vintage Bermuda Dansette Turntables!Somebody somewhere had the same idea!

I bet they have had users yanking out the ribbon cable, with them thinking it was part of the packaging. That's something they definitely need to tidy up and hide. The hole the pickup sled is in is too big.

The woodgrain and brass colours are quite stylish for this unit and it also comes in white with shiny chrome accents. The crazy thing is this unit retails online (on Amaz--) for between $45 and $50 U.S. but in Canada, it retails for $131 (on Canadian Amaz--) which is nowhere near the normal currency exchange when it should sell in Canada for about $68, so for any fellow Canucks out there interested, one is better off buying it online in the U.S. and paying for the shipping and minor import charges.

Yeah, you gotta wonder why they didn't at least use a black ribbon cable so it would look like it belonged in there. Take ya some Fiebing's USMC black leather dye and put a drop or two on that cable and let it spread out and dry. Barring that, use a black permanent marker...though that tends not to look very black when it dries.

It's cool. I have an undercabinet cd player that is inoperable because it will not accept or reject a cd. This will not have that problem because you simply place it on the player. I have a portable cd player that I use, but it doesn't have built-in speakers. I think I need this.😅

Thats what I love about this channel you always find cool things to review, on this cd player I like the concept of seeing disc in motion If when cd players came out and I could see disc in action maybe I would of liked cd's a little better ,when cassettes were getting popular I was not fond of them too much mostly cause when buying a cassette it did not have as much of the info buying a record always had like to see the lyrics and the band info but at least I could record with them thats what I find weird about myself I like to see my music in action? maybe I cannot explain it but this cd player I think has the right idea to get my interest if only it did not look so cheap if they could make it more professional looking make it look like a real well built unit and it could join the rest of the audio equipment you have I could buy it but it seemed confusing to use it should of had a display so that you see what track was plying and where you could see where you were fast fowarding to the sound quality was a lot to be desired it just seem it was cheaply made hastily ,during when cd 's were popular they did make a few cd players that you could load in front upright and could see cd spinning but a lot were cheaply made and at that time I was not into cd's as much cause I was disillusioned with the cd's some of the albums I could not get when I was younger in record form I would find in cd's but a lot of them were made terribly and sounded horrible to much treble labeling was really crappy cheaply done ,but I loved your review you showed it is not bad you pointed out its flaws a very honest review thats what great about this channel thanks again JRo

I have a kinda generic blu-ray that I use for a CD player. Would love something with a little more style but this seems a bit too wonky. Also RCAs or at least a line out (vs headphone jack) would be needed. It’s a neat idea. I think a 33/45/78 switch as a power switch would be nice and let the “tonearm” track the position of the track the player is on just for an additional gimmick.

  • @ThisGuyFrritz

I suppose there are those of us who recall a movie seen where Austin Powers tried to play an audio cd on a turntable. Maybe he could've used THIS player, instead. 😀 7:37 Notice how the label of the Dave Bushnell CD and this CD at 14:38 (although it's a lighter color) are color-coordinated with the player! One thing the company ought to add is a display for the track number as well as ID3 tags for MP3 files. Besides that, it could've been used for telling what mode the player is in. It would be funny that whenever you move that tonearm power switch to "off" there would be a scratch sound. Maybe they could add that option. 😀 I think it would be a good idea that whenever you demonstrate a CD player, you would show us how it could do gapless playback. Here's a video, which I think outta go viral, that talks about certain players that would add a "split-second gap" when there normally wouldn't be a gap. kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4p5z8OhqcnOgbg.html

I'm sure the laser is only ON when the tone arm is in the playing position. The cover should protect the lens from dust when it's not in use.

This kind of would be cooler if there was stroboscopic LED lighting above the CD so that it would slow the apparent viewing of the CD label. Other than that its an odd and rather pointless idea implemented very cheaply and a tad tacky. Real wood would have improved the cosmetics, and putting those speaker grills on the side would have looked nicer. The arm is just the wrong colour and should have moved across the disc in realtime (just to enhance the effect). Shame also the speakers are so puny, but this is the age we live in!
