You saw her mother wiping away some tears near the end of this song. Someone asked her why she was crying. She said: “that’s when I knew I lost her to the world.” It’s clear that her mother didn’t lose her, but the world has been given an amazing gift.

Guys, that was the official beginning of a career destined to be something like none of us have ever seen before. I've seen this at least 2 or 300 hundred times already and the part that really tugs at my heart is when they show mom backstage looking at Angelina singing on a monitor. Can you begin to imagine what's going through her mind!? She has been quoted as saying she was crying because she knew she was losing her daughter to the world. I can understand that but what I feel is how proud she must of been. You have to believe she was a nervous wreck before she started singing. But, once she was in her comfort zone, Angelina was basically telling mom, "nothing to worry about, I got this!" But, talk about a proud mommy! And, how about grandma in the audience? She was the head cheerleader and i'll bet she was the one who made many of those posters. I did hear what you said, Asia. You can be an inspiration for all those kids who think the deck is stacked against them or, they're not getting the support the need to rely on. Do your thing and don't let anything mess you up. Right, Asia? Hey look. Look what Angelina said in the video at 7 years old. She wanted to be a superstar. She had a dream. Grant you, she's been blessed with a wonderful family but because of her strong desire she got her family to believe in her. If kids can't find that support at home, Asia, what would you recommend they do? Let us know in an upcoming video. I think you can be a great help to some kids struggling out there .

Excellent work Asia and BJ, but there are videos of Angelina singing at 5 and 6 years old. In my opinion, the moment that Angelina shows her potential is at 6 years old, singing I Who Have Nothing, in the studio with her high school teacher, filmed by her grandmother's cell phone, who is the great encourager and mentor of God's gift. Filming is worth it, as it already shows your powerful voice!

Angelina Jordan (born Angelina Jordan Astar; 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian child singer whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday, became a viral video online, and led to worldwide press coverage. She went on to win the competition (at eight) with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime". Since then she has worked to raise millions of dollars on behalf of environmental causes and children's charities around the world. She always performs barefoot, after befriending a young shoeless girl while traveling when she was six years old. Jordan wrote a book about the experience and became the youngest published author in Norway.

Angelina wanted to go on NGT as early as age five; seven years was the youngest opportunity; her mother allowed Angelina's request. Her family is very nurturing of her talents, but also cognizant of childhood. Angelina pushes herself with parental and family support; they encourage with love and it shows. Angelina's humility toward her talent is a testament to her parents, grandparents, other family members, and teachers. I encourage you to go even earlier than age seven. Nice reaction.

We are all born with talents. Most of us don’t recognize our talents or are lazy procrastinators who don’t do much to nourish them. Yes Angelina was born with several talents but credit has to go to her family and especially for her grandmother who inspired and mentored her and her mother who allowed her to be who she wanted to be and took the time to accompany her to all her rehearsals and later on to all of her public performances. Credits to her little sister Juliette who many may think she is living in the shadow of her older sister but honestly the two of them adore each other like no other two sisters. Credit to her uncle/manager who uprooted his own family to move to the USA in order to help his niece to chase her dream of singing and bringing joy to the whole world. Her father is a very private person. He did accompany her to NGT audition and although we don’t see him or hear much about him, I’m sure he is the proudest dad in the world. Last but not least most of the credit has to go to Angelina for being so focused from a very young age on what she wants from life and for her unequalled dedication and work ethics in order to achieve what she wants. Thank you both for your reaction and I look forward to your next video.

Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ✌😎✌💯 *AJ* 💯🎙

She has clearly been loved, nurtured, encouraged, and protected by a wonderful family unit...and thank God for her grandma Mary, who exposed her early on to all the great jazz artists that resonated with Angelina. Can't wait for you two to react to her other NGT performances...great job!!

Her voice and amazing skills in music, all from this day some 7 years ago. Her bare feet and the reason for it. Her white dress. And all of these stunning emotional moments of greate music she keeps trowing at us since that day. She tear us up and make us cry out of pure beauty, joy and amusement. She can do no wrong. So thank you for taking this journey. We simply love to see the word and music of Angelina spred ever wider around our world. My favorite reaction to AJ yet from you guys. Loved it!! You must do her next performance a few weeks later "I'm A Fool To Want You" a cappella, also Billie Holiday. There is a great mash up of AJ and Billie as well. There is also a video titled "Angelina Jordan I'm A Fool To Want You Remix" where the music is synced to AJ's a cappella and it is mind bending how AJ's pitch and timing is so close to the original. It's like she has the recording imbedded in her head. THANK YOU for this wonderful review!

Angelinas choice of this song is way beyond her years. When one of the judges ask her what this song is about, she answers in a way that a child would do, while the song itself (look up the lyrics) is about a woman that has lost her dear one and think of ending her own life to follow him. Angelinas performance is done without the most disturbing part of the lyrics. A sad song, a really gloomy Sunday, indeed.

Video of this performance was posted to YT shortly after it was broadcast on TV, and it went viral. Within a week, she was being reported on by news outlets around the world, including CNN, Time, The Mirror (in the UK) and The Hollywood Reporter. In the weeks that followed, says her uncle/manager Michael, "anything she sang went viral" (including "Fly Me to the Moon" on a TV talk show called _Senkveld_ and her second-round performance on NGT). Her family could easily have begun cashing in big time at that point (and even more so after she won the competition), but they didn't. They have shown _herculean_ restraint in the years since, turning down 90% of offers that have come in (according to her mother when Angelina was 10), saying yes mainly to charity events and the like, and always putting her schooling and having a normal childhood above everything else. It's truly incredible that they were able to wait as long as they did to sign with a major record label (announced in August 2020), despite being courted by some of the biggest names (individuals and companies) in the entertainment/music industry.

What started the public journey. It started much earlier, of course. But this blew me away when I first saw it. Jazz. And Billie Holiday who was known to have introduced new vocal sound to jazz. She is 7 years old at this first audition. And she had been begging to be on the show since 3 years old. She tried at 5, but was too young to apply. I hear you, Asia, about never having had the nurturing Mom and Dad (and involved grandparents). It is part of my fascination with Angelina and her progress. This song was written by a Hungarian composer (?), but made famous by Billie Holliday. (Check Wikipedia). It was known as the suicide song. She's really in touch with that greater reality of which we all are a partl Thank you for checking out how the public journey began. Do the other 3 songs, too, at you convenience. 💜

I think, for Angelina, jazz is like another language, learned from birth. I think she was born with a predisposition to absorb music in its entirety, into a nurturing home of jazz enthusiasts so she was surrounded by love, by stability, and by jazz. The result is nothing short of amazing…her natural leaning towards music was fed by what she heard. That’s why she’s never nervous…jazz and really all singing is just what she does. It’s who she is. Love your videos. I’ve watched 100’s of AJ reaction vids during the pandemic. I really enjoy the rapport you two have…lovely to watch. You’re knowledgeable and comment just the right amount. Angelina Jorden - Bio from Republic Record The Norwegian - Los Angeles-based 15-year-old singer and songwriter amplified her voice around the globe, racking up over half-a-billion KZread views, just shy of 2 billion Facebook views, and praise from Time, CNN, The BBC, and People. Along the way, she performed for world leaders at some of the most influential events in Europe, appeared on European and North American television, and quietly enraptured a growing fan base. In 2020, she brings a soulful signature sound to life with her Republic Records debut. The breadth of Angelina’s soulful and deep alto vocal delivery showcases a rare class of musical aptitude that you would attribute to an old soul, and legendary talent, well beyond her years. “I feel like I’ve lived many years more than my age. I feel like music found me. I want people to get connected to my music and my lyrics and to share something special with the love I have for music." Angelina went from belting out Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” to immersing herself in jazz at five-years-old. She discovered Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Louis Armstrong by combing jazz playlists across KZread. At eight-years-old, she won Norway’s Got Talent with a viral rendition of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.” Labels and producers feverishly sought her out, but she already possessed a clear picture of what her path would be. Taking her time, she opted to carefully hone her voice through countless hours of practice, gigs, and writing. “It was really great, but I knew I wanted something bigger,” she admits. “I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.” She got “ready” through a series of historic performances. She graced the stage of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and delivered an emotionally charged rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” A year later, she wowed an audience at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm. Touching down in Seoul during 2017, she joined a powerhouse bill alongside PSY and Norah Jones in front of 40,000 people at Muse In City Festival. Quincy Jones personally invited her to perform at his 85th birthday at London’s O2 Arena. Every time she took the stage, she was notably barefoot, which remains one of her signatures thus far. “A long time ago, I was traveling with my family, and I met a young homeless girl with no shoes,” she recalls. “She was barefoot, so I gave her my shoes because I really wanted to help her. Today, I sing barefoot as a reminder of all the kids in the world who need help and support.” Along the way, GRAMMY® Award-winning production duo Stargate [Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Rihanna] reached out, and they initiated a fervent creative partnership together. She continued to write lyrics, compose on piano and guitar, and record. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020. Now, she formally introduces herself on the single “Million Miles.” With lyrics exclusively penned by Angelina, her robust delivery sails over sparse piano on the verses as the track builds towards a sweeping refrain, “We’re a million miles apart. It’s pulling my heart." “Million Miles” is about losing someone you really love,” she explains. “This song is very personal to me, because I had never felt the feeling of losing someone before I wrote this.” With more music on the horizon, there is more of Angelina’s captivating voice and songwriting in store.

(PS) Hi you 2 again, Here's some info. What Angie said about “Gloomy Sunday" choice “The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but “Gloomy Sunday “ was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad, where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song “Gloomy Sunday” that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song.” (Sara, Angie's mom was asked what she thought when she saw her on the screen backstage, (she was wiping her tears when watching) I knew I had just lost my little girl to the world ) The family has always been very close & since that even more protective of her from the entertainment industry’s vultures & hyena's.

Her first public show with Gloomy Sunday, was an astonishing event for those who lived it at that moment, the emotion one feels for her first performances, in which she wonderfully connects her voice and talent with aspect of that little bird playing, it is very big and intense and leaves you permanently marked. ❤️ ❤️ To think that at 7 years she was perfectly capable of reading, analyzing and making contact, in a foreign language, without any doubt or fear, with the public and with the talented judges seems impossible. She convinced her mother to sign her up for Talent because she was confident ... at seven years!
